Interesting way of defending from Luiz. How much did PSG pay? 50 million pound?

PSG got screwed by Chelsea big time with that amount of money.

Nothing against Holland, but I hope that Brazil scores soon. To avoid another rout.

Robben manages to run the 5 metres into the penalty zone before falling down... Gets the penalty.
Shouldn't it be about where you get fouled, instead of where you touch down?

Interesting Dutch defending, too. Does Cillessen have issues with crosses?

As I wrote with Pellissier, the problem is that the other option for that incident was a free kick outside of the box and an automatic red card because Silva was the last man anyway. The referee didn't have the balls to make that call with still 88 minutes to go.

Silva could have let Robben go and avoid further problems except for going down 0-1 early, but you know what reflexes a defender has on the pitch.

If it's inside the penalty zone, the 'last man' rule is overridden?
I am not that versed in such ruling details.

But still this does not seem like a choice the ref is to make. It's either inside, or it isn't. Weird decission~

Holland the much more mature and serious side, with a well-deserved lead. Brazil isn't completely in shambles like against Germany, but at THIS rate, they will lose again.

The "last man" rule doesn't exist anymore. It's been replaced by "clear goal chance" (interrupting a clear goal chance with a foul equals to red card). Either way, that action was both last man and clear goal chance, hence I said no matter how you look at it that's always a red card. But not all referees apply this rule after 2 minutes, that is also a given.

And yes, penalty and red card coexist, one doesn't exclude the other. There have been some complaints asking to turn the red into yellow when a foul generates a penalty but so far rules haven't changed in that regard.

Just tune in to the end of half time, can't say i'm surprised by the scoreline. The team is going on a huge slump in team psychology after their disastrous result in the semi and it's going to be awhile before they can recover (need a new coach and a new team composition)

No. If it's inside the penalty area and it prevents a clear goalscoring opportunity, it can be a penalty and a red card at the same time. The ground for giving a red card is that the defender commits the foul to stop a definite breakaway.

The penalty decision was strange indeed, but it says how the ref was not keen to send the player off at all despite how blatant the foul was. So he took the escape door in a certain way.

Well, its not 0 - 5 at least.

Sadly, we are still playing "amateurish" in this match. But Oscar is doing a good job, thus creating some chances. Maybe we can score a goal on the second-half.

Cillessen has no real weaknesses, although he sometimes looks a bit shaky. His league statistics last season were the best since Van der Sar.

Yeah, that was definitely off-side. Brazil needs a new coach. This is just awful to watch. It's not because the Dutch team is really good but Brazil is just too bad.

That's really interesting. It's a shame that his fatal flaw is about saving penalties.
