If you want to be able to do your dailies solo, quests solo, kill elites solo - I'd recommend Mage. They're a bit weak early but they shoot up big time as they level. And in Northrend, they are awesome.

Paladins have ridiculous solo capability in any spec. And fyi, Shamans have become rather potent to. My fastest 1 to 70 was actually with my Shaman. It depends on what you want to do end game, most of all.

That depends on how you interpret the hunter. Hunters are also "friends of nature" "trackers" and "experienced survivalists" (living off the land, etc) which fits Tauren to a T. BEs are agile, but the rest of it doesn't necessarily fit any better than tauren.

Also, the Tauren gun animation amuses me to no end.

I think my fastest to 70 was my paladin at 8 and a half days which happened before both the old world level boost and outland one, which I'm pretty proud of now that I think about it.

If you're talking about elves being agile you're already RPing.

Yeah, I know, their animations make it really hard to take them seriously as anything but melee though. Especially the crossbow/gun animation, they look like a big bodybuilder shooting a little toy weapon. It's hard to believe something that looks like that could have such high agility statwise too, though to be fair there is plenty of other nonsensical stuff like that (gnome warriors etc). And yeah, the comment about BEs being agile was just based on appearance, their little twirl animation, etc; was not meant as any sort of RP comment.

I don't care what people say, best range animation is on Draenei.

Draenei Females look very festy when they cast/shoot.

Well, I spoke to one of the officers of the top-end guild I applied. After some questions, he gave me the guild invite, even though I said I was only on for a bit today and then not until my new computer was up and running. Did very smooth runs of heroic Nexus, Azjol-Nerub and Anh'kahet. The Azjol-Nerub one was deathless...*blush* Damn, it was good. And they showed me a very amusing bug for Hadronox. If you get a Druid to range pull the first elite nerubian then Shadowmeld, ALL the Hadronox trash instantly vanishes. Also allows you o get the Hadronox achievement. Found that rather intriguing. I made some good impressions there. Then did some PvP with one of the officers. We just couldn't stop winning in Strand of the Ancients. Tank hopping ftw. It also turned out to be a good loot day. I finally replaced my level 75 pants with the H Anh'kahet ones and then won T7.5 Mage gloves from a VoA 25 pug with a roll of 91. Turned out to be a very good day. Now I just need to get my bloody computer and internet done up so I can raid with these guys!

Rolling a mage.. Not sure about that. I can imagine the endless streams of people with *water/food plx*! I certainly didn't hesitate to pester a mage for water or food for my pet when i was playing WoW

As for other classes. How dependent are Paladins/Shamans/Mage on mana for leveling? When i leveled my hunter i notice my killing speed was quite fast without trowing almost everything i had at the mobs.

And i remember my guild was talking about how Taurens should of been skinnable Some things never change, for the good

Can't say. Warlocks are fairly mana use heavy depending on spec...but then you have Life Tap, so it is more dependant on your health bar than your mana bar. If I don't run into anything unexpected (or goof off a little with my burst) I can run a fairly long time without drinking or eating even as Destruction.

What Mages I've seen in combat tend to be mana use heavy...needing to drink after a few pulls...but then they can make there own water...so it doesn't matter...plus most of the ones I see are either in instances or doing AoE killing.

I've not been around many Shaman, so I can't say at all. For a Paladin...they don't seem to run out of mana very quickly, but when they do they're abilities are shot.

I've done Paladin up to 71 so... Normally your mana pool will do just fine even as ret. It's when you start say... Spamming Divine Storm into your rotation and a big group of mobs is when your mana pool will burn down in no time at all. If you just do a normal Crusader Strike and some Judgements once in a while it shouldn't really have any problems.
