Again the way you posted it made it sound like it was someone important like 金剛

Now now, she is important. I mean, where would be the plot without the supreme flagship?
The anime seemed to do fine without her .

Personal opinion; but I would have rather had Hotel-chan in the anime than the wonky story they presented us with instead.

Most recent chapter of Salty Road that I've managed to find thus far is chapter 7, and I have to share this:
Spoiler for Salty Road Ch. 7:
402...! I had no idea you had it in you!
(For those wondering, this is the guy in chapter 2 who accidentally receives a suitcase full of money meant for the mob. Takao helps fight off the mobsters but the guy gets shot. He now works at the noodle stand that all the Salty Road character hang out at.)

Ok, I am done. 402 for best I-400 class.
I had trouble chosing between Iona and her before.
Don't worry about 402, she isn't exactly "involved" with that guy, (I agree with zuikaku's guess) she accidentally installed a plug-in that simulated a girl going through her monthly cycles. She bumped into him on one of her bad days.
Iona does the Fog variant of 'in your face' to Kongou
Kongou sinks
but she kills* Gunzou on her way out
yay, the fight with Kongou is over, now to see why Ise isn't just taking control of the rest of the fleet an continues the fight.
yay, Gunzou's dead, unless this is just a cheap cliffhanger now that lazy hotel has do do something.
yay, the plot can finally move again, 4th facility, fog civil war, Mutsu here we come.
yay, see ya all in the new year.
