Finally finished (or mostly anyway) this fic idea I've had for a while. I can't think of a good title, though...

“WHAT?! Again?!”

The four other members of the group winced as their very outgoing friend made it well known what she thought of the latest request. All eyes turned to the one who had made the request, having brought her hands together in front of her face pleadingly.

“Please Arisa? We just found out about this mission this morning.”

Tossing her school bag over her shoulder, Arisa Bannings sighs and glares back at her friend.

“Fine. BUT! You owe Suzuka and me some cakes from your café, your treat. I swear, you three are going to fall behind with all the skipping you’ve been doing lately.”

Nanoha Takamachi laughs in a bit of embarrassment before agreeing to the terms. Next to her, her fellow mages Fate T. Harlaown and Hayate Yagami share a bit of laughter at their friend’s expense. At the same time they’re both glad that Nanoha had been the first to speak up, otherwise they would have been the target of Arisa’s outburst. She had also known the girl much longer than them and was the best choice to break the news.

“We’ll give you a call when we get back. Let’s go Fate-chan.”

The pair turns and makes their way up the stair to the roof. With classes about to start and being fairly isolated, it made the perfect spot as a teleportation location.

“You aren’t going with them, Hayate?” questions Suzuka, having noticed the girl still with them.

“I wasn’t assigned to this mission,” she replies, “I was already put on one for later this afternoon. After school is out that is.”

“Hmph. At least someone isn’t lazy about her studies.”

This entices giggles from the two other girls, having remembered how ‘studious’ Arisa had been back in Middle School.

“We should get going. Class is about to start,” remarks Suzuka after glancing at her watch.

The trio head off towards the school building before them, engaged in the latest gossip like any other normal 15 year old girls.

About two hours later aboard the Claudia, the Aces found themselves in an all too familiar room for their mission briefing. They had some details about the mission when they had been first informed about it. It seemed to be a simple investigation into a small Lost Logia smuggling group using this world as a goods transfer point.

“Non-Administered Planet 88. According to Intel, there has yet to be any persons with high magical potential to come from this world, but there are some who possess a small amount. There have been, however, reports of odd magical activity the country of ‘Japan’ several years ago by their time,” began their briefing officer.

“Several years ago? But how come we are only investigating now?” questions Nanoha.

“We had sent a team initially, but they came out empty-handed. We presume they detected us and either halted operations or moved to use another world. However recently we had detected several dimensional transports centered on this world…”

“…which means they came back once the heat died down,” finishes Fate.

He nods in agreement, “That would seem to be the case. It’s that or another group that decided to use this world. Based on the transfers, it appears to be a small operation with only a handful of people involved. You two are to be transferred to the planet and conduct an investigation of the city and the surrounding area. Should Intel prove to be right, seal any Lost Logia and capture the smugglers. We will remain in orbit around the planet with a squad ready should you require assistance. Any questions? Dismissed.”

They rose from their seats and started to make their way to the transfer room.

“The mission doesn’t sound that bad, huh Fate-chan?”

“It doesn’t, but you never know. Always be on guard and expect the unexpected.”

The brunette giggled at her friend, “Of course. You get a little too serious about these things sometimes Fate-chan.”

‘That’s because I don’t want to see you hurt like that ever again,’ she tells herself.

“Fate-chan? Are you alright?”

Fate blinked, realizing that she had been staring, “A-ah! I’m fine. Uh, say isn’t this world quite similar to yours?”

“Uh, huh! There are some differences, but it’s really similar. It’s too bad we have to do this at night. I’d love to spend some time looking around.”

It was a bit disappointing that they couldn’t spend more time on this world. As an Enforcer, she did get to travel quite a bit and see these different worlds, but Nanoha didn’t really get that opportunity. Sure, they’ve been to other worlds together but not really long enough to explore.

At the transfer room, the tech crew was all ready for them. The coordinates they had been given would put them just outside of the city, in a forested area to hide their arrival. Triangulated locations of recent activity had been transferred to their Devices to aid them in their search. With their Barrier Jackets on and Devices in hand, the pair was transferred to the planet below. Just as they were told, they found themselves in the outlying forest.

Accel Fin.

It was already past midnight local time, which meant they had six or seven hours tops before people started to wake up. Seeing two people flying around the city would definitely not be something they wanted the residents to wake up to. The city itself was relatively small. It reminded Nanoha of her home town in a way: large, but not overly crowded by tall structures with that suburban feel to it.

“Look, Fate-chan! An amusement park!”

Following her friend’s hand, her eyes fell upon the park. It looked fairly large, with a rollercoaster and a large 4-faced clock at its center. Almost all the lights were off except for the red warning lights atop the higher structures.

“Hm, I think this city has yours one-upped, Nanoha.”

“Mou, I wish we had one when I was growing up. It looks so fun!”

Fate giggled as they flew past. No matter how old she got, she was still that innocent little girl inside.

Sir, I’m detecting possible Lost Logia at 100 meters.

Both wore a serious expression at the news. Having encountered and sealed numerous Lost Logia, their Devices had a kind of attunement towards detecting Lost Logia. It was rare for them to be wrong, but it did happen on occasion. They picked up their pace, hoping to end it quickly though that was rarely the case.

Landing on the ground, they did a quick survey of their surroundings. They were outside the city on the more residential area. Numerous trees lined a few paths around an artificial lake. The area they landed in was open and appeared to be a playground of sorts. It had swings, rocking horses, a sand pit, and what appeared to be a large slide in the shape of a penguin. The air around them tingled with magic residue.

“I think we found the place,” Nanoha remarks, carefully searching the area for the smugglers and the Lost Logia.

Besides the magic in the air, there was nothing unusual about the playground. No magical devices, guards, or barriers anywhere. They had originally thought that the smugglers used a barrier to hide their goods from the residents, but apparently they were wrong.

“Do you think they heard we were coming and packed up?”

Fate shakes her head, “There was another ship monitoring the planet the past 2 days. No one’s come or gone from the planet. So that means they either haven’t come back yet…”

“…or they never left,” Nanoha finishes, tightening her grip on Raising Heart.

Approaching the penguin slide, Fate peers around inside looking for any sign of the Lost Logia.

“Hey, Nanoha. This slide…it looks like it’s been moved recently.”

“Moved? You think they hid it under…”

She doesn’t get to finish her sentence as a grey sphere of magic slams into her auto-guard barrier. Fate wastes no time and takes to the sky to search out their attacker with Bardiche switching to Haken Form. The forested area makes it difficult for her to visually locate whoever it was. Burgundy eyes dart around in the darkness, waiting for the next attack to come. Almost on cue, another shot flies out of the trees, but this time towards her.

Haken Saber.

With a quick swing of her arm, she sends the yellow blade spinning towards the oncoming attack. It effortlessly slices and neutralizes the magical projectile and continues on towards the forest below. She watches as a figure flies up from the trees to avoid the spinning blade.

“Got you.”

Fate dives towards the smuggler with Bardiche remaining in Assault Form. As she neared, she could start to make out the figure. It appeared to be a male, slightly muscular build in his 30’s or so. He wore a black and dark blue outfit, probably a Barrier Jacket if the staff in his right hand was any sign. The staff itself was standard TSAB issue, which meant it was either stolen or bought through the black market. He raised his staff and fired off several more shots at the approaching Enforcer.

Defenser.

They slam harmlessly into the yellow barrier as Fate keeps on her approach. Out of the corner of her eye she could see Nanoha had taken to the skies and was moving to approach from behind.

“This is Enforcer Fate T. Harlaown of the TSAB, You are in violation of inter-dimensional transportation law and the possession of illegal goods. Drop your weapons and land!”

The man grimaced and looked from Fate to Nanoha before taking off as fast as he could. Fate swore under her breath as they always chose the hard way out.

“Nanoha!”

Her friend nodded and leveled her Device towards the fleeing smuggler.

“Let’s go Raising Heart!”

Alright. Buster Mode.

A pink magic circle manifests beneath her feet as she charges her attack.

“Divine…Bust…!”

She isn’t able to finish when something slams into her from below. Unable to stop herself, the pink beam flies out off-course. She quickly recovers and finds her attack heading straight towards the city. Since she had set it for magic damage only, there was no danger to the structures. However, if it hit someone that had any magic potential…

A few meters back Fate watches the second smuggler take off after the first. They should have known that there was more than likely more than one of them based on the information that was gathered. Right now, however her concern was on the stray attack. She knew Nanoha wouldn’t be able to catch up to it, but if she used her Sonic Form she would be able to just make it to hopefully stop it. It was risky as she had almost no defenses or defense spells in that form and she knew all too well how much that spell hurt. She needed to do something, and that something had to be done now.

“Bardiche, Overdrive, New…”

The pink beam suddenly slams into something before it could reach the city. She stops and stares. There was no barrier or protection spell used by either of them, let alone at that distance. Both are momentarily surprised at the momentary event before turning their attention back to the fleeing smugglers. They take off in pursuit and quickly close the distance. This doesn’t go unnoticed by the pair. With Devices raised, the smugglers turn and prepare to fire.

“Wind, become my binding chain. WINDY!”

Nanoha and Fate stop their pursuit, watching in confusion as something wraps around the smugglers and restrains them. They couldn’t tell for sure, but it looked like some kind of…person. It was definitely female but almost transparent, perhaps a familiar of sorts. The two Aces continue to cautiously watch the pair being dragged to the ground, still struggling against whatever it was. Out of the corner of her eye, Nanoha noticed some movement and turned to look. She could only blink in surprise at being a girl, probably no older than them, descending to the ground holding a staff of sorts with elegant white wings coming out of her back.

“Um, Fate-chan…?”

“I see her, too. I think she might be the familiar’s master.”

They also begin their descent, keeping an eye on the smugglers as well as the girl. As they reach the ground, the girl reaches into her pocket and pulls out some kind of long paper or card. She tosses it into the air, materializing a magic circle they had never seen before beneath her feet.

“Give them temporary slumber, SLEEP!”

To their surprise, the card glows and transforms into a small, fairy-like creature. It floats over to the smugglers and slowly circles above them. The next thing they knew, they had stopped struggling and were fast asleep. With its task done, the fairy floated back to the girl along with the odd familiar that was acting as a bind. As they approached the girl, they glowed and reverted back to cards in her hands.

“Thank you for your help.”

Fate looked over at Nanoha. Apparently she was thanking her cards. Perhaps they were some kind of familiar they hadn’t encountered before. Turning their attention back to the girl they found her staring back at them with her staff, which they noticed was quite pink with a yellow star at the top in the middle of a circle, gripped tightly in her hands. No words were exchanged until Nanoha took a step forward.

“Um…”

Master!

Nanoha jerked her head up just in time to see a large fireball heading their way.

Round Shield.

The pink barrier materialized just in time to protect the pair from the attack. As the barrier dropped, they saw a large winged cat creature snarling at them from the girl’s side. They raised their Devices in preparation for another attack.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you. Cerberus can be a little…jumpy.”

Fate whips around to find another person standing behind them. This one was a tall male in robes of some sort. His long, silver hair, white wings, and almost feminine complexion stood out at her, but not as much as the large white arrow he had aimed at them.

“Who are you? What do you want?!” growled the winged cat, Cerberus.

“We don’t mean you any harm. We were sent here to capture those smugglers and the goods they were transporting,” states Nanoha.

“If that is true, drop your weapons,” comes the man behind them.

Nanoha glances at Fate who nods. Their Devices revert back to their inactive forms and are carefully set on the ground.

“You still haven’t said who you are. Who sent you? That brat Erio?”

Fate shakes her head, “We don’t know any Erio. This is Nanoha Takamachi and I’m Fate T. Harlawon of the TSAB…”

“TSAB? Dimensional travelers?” questions the man again.

This time Nanoha nods, “Yes, that would be us.”

“Well, why didn’t you say so!” chuckles Cerberus, losing his stern appearance.

Now that was a reaction they weren’t expecting and from the blank expression of the girl, she was just as lost as them.

“Come, let us take this conversation somewhere more comfortable. I’m sure your superiors can handle the smugglers.”

That was true, especially with them knocked out. Plus the TSAB would want them to investigate this new form of magic on a Non-Administered world. Fate walks over to the still sleeping smugglers and attaches a beacon to them before stepping back. In a flash of light they vanish as Nanoha explains the situation to the mission leader.

“Alright. They said that they’ll send a team down to recover the Lost Logia.”

Fate nods and turns her attention back to the man.

“Where do you propose we go?”

“Ah, let’s head over to Tomoyo’s. Her mother’s out of town and has a lot more room. Plus she was all those delicious cakes!” grins Cerberus with a dreamy look, “C’mon, let’s go Sakura.”

The girl, Sakura, stares blankly for a moment.

“HOEEE?!”

A short flight later, the group finds themselves sitting in the large room of Tomoyo Daidoji. The winged man, introducing himself as Yue, sat across from them next to Sakura. Her friend, Tomoyo, was present with them sitting on her own chair. Cerberus, having changed to his more compact form, was currently grinning madly on the table stuffing sweets down his throat.

“Ahh~ Sweets, sweets~ So lovely sweets~.”

The two TSAB officers could only stare in slight shock and confusion at the now small creature. Going from a fierce, large creature to…that was quite peculiar.

“I believe you have a few questions about us?” asks Yue.

“We do. But first, how do you know about us, the TSAB? We have yet to make any contact with this world and yet you know of our existence and apparently our purpose, too,” questions Fate.

“Ah, that would be because Clow Reed told us about you,” answers Cerberus after finishing another cookie, “Clow was a powerful sorcerer who lived many decades ago. He is the one who created the Clow, now Sakura, Cards, Yue, and me.”

“He was very powerful, having been able to see into the future to who the heir to the Cards would be among other things,” finishes Yue.

“And among other things includes the TSAB?”

“Yes,” agrees Cerberus, “He had told us that there would be the day where we would be visited by you as well as your interest in our magic.”

Nanoha nods, “We haven’t seen your type of magic before. Would it be possible for you to tell us more?”

“Ah, now that would be up to the Mistress of the Cards.”

All eyes turned to the teenage girl in the room who had been listening intently to the current conversation.

“A-ah! Um, I guess it wouldn’t hurt. But could you tell me more about your world? I never thought other dimensions existed!”

Nanoha giggles, “Deal.”

Sakura explains to the pair about the fundamentals behind the Cards as she had learned from Syaoran and her guardians as well as about some of the cards she uses. The conversation switches over to Nanoha and fate who tell the girl about their own experiences with magic and the TSAB. All the while, Tomoyo gleefully films the entire thing for her collection.

“Waa…so you two were rivals before you became friends?”

“Yup! It was difficult back then, but now we’re the best of friends,” grins Nanoha.

“Mmm…sounds like you can Syaoran, Sakaura-chan!”

“H-hoe?” she blushes at the mention of her boyfriend.

“You know Nanoha, it sounds like the two of you have had similar introductions to magic.”

“Hmm, now that you mention it, it does seem that way Fate-chan.”

“You should have seen her back then! It was quite a sight to see her learning to deal with magic,” chuckles Cerberus.

“Kero-chan!”

“I bet it would have been interesting to see,” grins Fate.

“Actually…would you like to see?”

Nanoha and Fate both turn to Tomoyo, “What do you mean?”

“I managed to film all of Sakura-chan’s adventures! I can show you if you want.”

“Oh, that would be great!”

On the couch, Sakura could only blush in embarrassment as her best friend practically skipped out to grab her collection with a twinkle in her eyes.

Several hours later, Nanoha and Fate found themselves heading back on the Claudia. What was supposed to be a short report ended up being a long report on what they had discovered on that world. It had taken them the majority of the trip to finish their reports before they forgot anything.

“That was some adventure, huh Fate-chan?”

“Yea. Who knew we would end up encountering a potentially unknown magic system?”

“Sakura-chan is such a sweet girl. ‘Everything will be alright’ is definitely a powerful spell.”

“I imagine it is. Perhaps we should have Yuuno see if he has any information on this Clow Reed when we see him next. For someone so powerful, there might be something on him.”

“Sounds good. I can’t help be reminded of myself when we were watching those videos.”

For one reason or another, the image of a 9 year old Nanoha with a pink wand and a matching frilly dress and hat popped into Fate’s head enticing some giggles.

“Fate-chan? Something wrong?”

Looking up at her friend didn’t help the matter as the little Nanoha in her head was prancing around and waving the wand around. It became too much for the Enforcer, sending her to the floor rolling around in laughter.

“Mou, Fate-chan!”

It was raining.

Vivio stood outside in it, staring up at the rain. She couldn't... feel it, no matter how hard she was trying. Feeling the rain was... impossible. Feeling anything was impossible, right now. Her lower lip quivered as she looked up into the rain, her eyes were wet with her tears, and she felt about ready to break down and cry. Nothing was the same, she thought. Nothing.

Nanoha was... gone. She wasn't dead, but she was gone. They had duped her, deceived her, into making Vivio think she was still around, but that was just a decoy, an illusion, a perfect dream in an imperfect world. And for the briefest of moments, Vivio had allowed herself to feel happy, to feel complete in her home. It was the biggest mistake she ever made, she decided, and now...

Vivio sat down hard on the sidewalk, bowing her head. Long blonde hair cascaded down around her head as she forced her eyes to shut and covered her ears with her hands. Shivering, the girl tightened up into a ball, rocking back and forth slowly. All she could think, could feel, the emotional, mental, physical scars. Her heart hurt so much, she felt like it was going to rip apart at any moment, ending its own suffering and her own. She wanted to find a small place, far away from everything and anyone, trying to forget, forget everything. Forget life. She wanted to die. Nothing could hurt more yet give her such sweet release and that right now.

The rain mimicked her feelings. As if it wanted to just end it now, it started to rain harder, as if to get it all out. The pressure from the rain pushed on her it seemed, causing her to curl up more and more, hiding the sound of her sobs as she finally let the dam break, her own rain joining that of the sky above.

Behind her, a second person walked out of the open door, her arms in her pockets as she walked up to the girl in front of her. She stopped beside Vivio, looking down at the blonde with a disheartened look on her face. She reached down slowly, as if to touch her, but felt that she couldn't do just that. Taking off her jacket, she draped it around Vivio's shivering, crying shoulders before she herself sat down. Two sad eyes looked at the blonde, as if unsure what to say. But what could she say? Perhaps, really, it was better to say nothing at all.

Syn looked away briefly, staring up at the downpour as it threatened to drown the two girls. Vivio wasn't going to move, and her slowly increasing sobs of tormented pain did little to drown out the cacophony of glistening raindrops as they hit whatever was below them, ending their brief lives in a splash of water. Syn put an arm around the girl slowly, around the shoulders, and said nothing. Her heart hurt as well, hurting for Vivio as she let out her own emotional discord, as tears freely flowed down her face.

"Vivio..." Syn whispered softly. She opened her mouth to speak again, but found no words of comfort there. There was nothing that she could say now, not after this grandiose spectacle of disaster that the gods had thrust down upon the young girl, as if Heaven itself was mocking her existence. As if everything just wanted her to die... or maybe wanted her to live, just so she could suffer more. Maybe that was it; a twist of fate. A twist of cruel, malicious fate.

Silence as Vivio continued to cry, unable to do anything else. Syn pulled Vivio closer, letting the girl lean on her as she continued to suffer. No one should suffer this much. Syn thought as she felt her own tears start. No one. Why does this happen to her? Only her? Isn't there someone else they can put this on?! I don't understand! Why her?! Why does it have to always be her?! Why can't she have a life of her own?!

Syn blinked away tears as she placed a hand on Vivio's shoulder, pulling her closer in an awkward embrace as Vivio's tears began to subside and, slowly, as Vivio spoke.

"I... I..." Vivio sobbed. "I just wanted... happiness. I thought, thought I had it here. I can't even get that, Syn... why does this always happen to me? All I've had in my life is you, and I'm so afraid of what will happen next that... that I feel like I'm going to lose you too!" Vivio let out another sob.

"For so long, I just tried to be someone... someone normal. I just wanted someone to recognize me for who I was! I wanted... I wanted an ordinary life, not this screwed up thing I have! I want to hate it all, hate everything," another sob. "I want to hate you so much it hurts, but I can't because at the same time I don't want to lose you... I..."

Syn closed her eyes as Vivio cried harder suddenly. "I want my mama... I want her back... I want to see her again! Syn, why can't I?! Why can't I see her anymore?! I don't understand! I want mama back..."

Syn couldn't speak as Vivio's sobs enveloped the two. Syn held the broken girl, held her the best she could, wishing that, somehow, she could be Vivio's heaven, take her somewhere far from here, far from all this misery. She wanted to help Vivio so much, but she couldn't. She was trapped in here with Vivio. Trapped in this downward spiral. Trapped because she refused to leave Vivio's side.

"Syn..." Vivio whispered through tears. "I... don't leave me, okay? Don't leave me, please don't leave me, I don't want to be alone, I don't want to be scared anymore. I can't hate you, can't do it because if I'm alone, I'll die! Even though I want to end this so much, but I can't! Syn, please, help me make it go away!"

"I will," Syn promised hoarsely. "I swear... I will. I'll never leave you. I'll be here for you, Vivio. Always."

The words cut deep into Vivio's heart, hurting her at the same time they comforted her. Vivio relented into Syn's grip, letting go of her ears and throwing her arms around Syn, crying uncontrollably, saying to her over and over again, "Don't leave me, don't leave me, don't leave me."

"I'll never leave you," Syn repeated to her, stroking Vivio's hair slowly. "I love you too much for that."

More tears came. More tears to mix with the rain.

The unrelenting rain.

...and I don't want the world to see me,
Cause I don't think that they'd understand,
When everything's made to be broken,
I just want you to know who I am...

That was sad... but I loved it! Poor Vivio. She really is one of the most awesome characters.

We decided to go into town again, this time grabbing lunch casually at a fast food joint and sharing it on a bench at the park. We ate in comfortable silence, just enjoying the cool breeze and sounds of nature mixed with the big city. I had really run out of things to do already. Five dates in five days really took up a lot of time.

"It's really nice here, isn't it?" She asked out of the blue as the wind rustled her hair. "I normally come here to think."

"Oh?" I never knew that. I always thought she flew around... Oh that's right, since we became official T.S.A.B. members we were bound by their rules. No flying without permission. "Why here?"

"Everything started here," She pointed down the walkway. "I found Yuuno-kun down there somewhere. I can't remember exactly but close by. From there I became a mage and met you."

"We fought around here somewhere too, didn't we?" That was so long ago, it was already fuzzy on exactly what I had done."

"We fought everywhere," She giggled happily at the memories. "Over the town, in the park, outside city limits... Hey, we even threw each other through buildings."

"Yeah, sorry about that." I chuckled lightly. Despite those being hard times, we both looked back at our battles, save the last one, as funny things. "I recall me winning them."

"Hey," She pouted at me. "I just learned I could do things back then, I think I did pretty well for knowing nothing at all."

I leaned back and looked up at the sky. "You are a prodigy, that doesn't count."

"So are you,"

"And Hayate," I reminded her. "She's tougher than both of us."

"I wonder if one day we'll become famous as "the three Aces" or something. We're already talked about a lot."

"True," I blushed lightly. I knew people talked about us, but I wasn't sure if it was good or bad. Already we had climbed ranks incredibly fast, and Nanoha was about to enter her final stages of flight instructor school. I was already trained as an enforcer, having completed the required parts two years ago, and were enrolled in advanced classes part time. We were both years ahead of even the best mages, and years younger than them.

And they always referred to us together. That was neat.

"So," I smiled at her and stood, offering my hand. "Shall we go, Darling?"

"Sure, honey." She took my hand and stood, quickly hugging my arm and holding onto it. "Where are we going now?" She smiled brightly. "Can we get some ice cream? Please?"

"Hehe, sure. More ice cream coming up!"

"Yay!" We both laughed and began walking together, her body snuggled up against mine.

Yay Week! That was nice. Just to here them talking about the past and things. Nanoha really has an addiction... to ice cream!

00.17 AM. Just barely past the middle of the night. The bright full moon lightened the dark skies and reflected itself on the water’s surface. All was quiet except for a small group of mages flying at full speed towards their current task.

Their mission was easy. Intercept an illegal Lost Logia transport while on route to the drop point, retrieve said Lost Logia from the opposing forces and safely transport it back to HQ. Yagami Hayate was the one in charge with completing the mission. For her team she had chosen her two best friends Nanoha and Fate and her faithful Knights, Signum, Vita and Shamal. The six of them were currently heading towards the intercept point.

“There they are!” Signum spoke as a number of black dots made their appearance in the night sky. From that distance they could guess their number to be of about 10 mages. They were arranged in a circular formation surrounding two other mages carrying a medium sized box between them. The enemy hadn’t spotted them yet.

Hayate took this moment before battle to take on the role as leader and relay out her fighting strategy. She pointed her staff towards the incoming forces then spoke:

“Alright! Vita and Signum! Go and hold aggro! Make sure they don’t scatter!”

“Fate! Go for the healer! If you can’t take him out, keep him occupied!”

“Shamal! Just keep the tanks alive!”

“Nanoha! Interrupt the boss and keep him from using his elite on us!”

“I’ll call target and nuke the group with high damage AoE spells!”

Hayate finished proudly. Looking around, she was surprised to notice her party still next to her and instead of following her plan, looking at each other curiously.

She blinked.

“Why are all of you looking at me like that?”

The four other members of the group winced as their very outgoing friend made it well known what she thought of the latest request. All eyes turned to the one who had made the request, having brought her hands together in front of her face pleadingly.

“Please Arisa? We just found out about this mission this morning.”

Tossing her school bag over her shoulder, Arisa Bannings sighs and glares back at her friend.

“Fine. BUT! You owe Suzuka and me some cakes from your café, your treat. I swear, you three are going to fall behind with all the skipping you’ve been doing lately.”

Nanoha Takamachi laughs in a bit of embarrassment before agreeing to the terms. Next to her, her fellow mages Fate T. Harlaown and Hayate Yagami share a bit of laughter at their friend’s expense. At the same time they’re both glad that Nanoha had been the first to speak up, otherwise they would have been the target of Arisa’s outburst. She had also known the girl much longer than them and was the best choice to break the news.

“We’ll give you a call when we get back. Let’s go Fate-chan.”

The pair turns and makes their way up the stair to the roof. With classes about to start and being fairly isolated, it made the perfect spot as a teleportation location.

“You aren’t going with them, Hayate?” questions Suzuka, having noticed the girl still with them.

“I wasn’t assigned to this mission,” she replies, “I was already put on one for later this afternoon. After school is out that is.”

“Hmph. At least someone isn’t lazy about her studies.”

This entices giggles from the two other girls, having remembered how ‘studious’ Arisa had been back in Middle School.

“We should get going. Class is about to start,” remarks Suzuka after glancing at her watch.

The trio head off towards the school building before them, engaged in the latest gossip like any other normal 15 year old girls.

About two hours later aboard the Claudia, the Aces found themselves in an all too familiar room for their mission briefing. They had some details about the mission when they had been first informed about it. It seemed to be a simple investigation into a small Lost Logia smuggling group using this world as a goods transfer point.

“Non-Administered Planet 88. According to Intel, there has yet to be any persons with high magical potential to come from this world, but there are some who possess a small amount. There have been, however, reports of odd magical activity the country of ‘Japan’ several years ago by their time,” began their briefing officer.

“Several years ago? But how come we are only investigating now?” questions Nanoha.

“We had sent a team initially, but they came out empty-handed. We presume they detected us and either halted operations or moved to use another world. However recently we had detected several dimensional transports centered on this world…”

“…which means they came back once the heat died down,” finishes Fate.

He nods in agreement, “That would seem to be the case. It’s that or another group that decided to use this world. Based on the transfers, it appears to be a small operation with only a handful of people involved. You two are to be transferred to the planet and conduct an investigation of the city and the surrounding area. Should Intel prove to be right, seal any Lost Logia and capture the smugglers. We will remain in orbit around the planet with a squad ready should you require assistance. Any questions? Dismissed.”

They rose from their seats and started to make their way to the transfer room.

“The mission doesn’t sound that bad, huh Fate-chan?”

“It doesn’t, but you never know. Always be on guard and expect the unexpected.”

The brunette giggled at her friend, “Of course. You get a little too serious about these things sometimes Fate-chan.”

‘That’s because I don’t want to see you hurt like that ever again,’ she tells herself.

“Fate-chan? Are you alright?”

Fate blinked, realizing that she had been staring, “A-ah! I’m fine. Uh, say isn’t this world quite similar to yours?”

“Uh, huh! There are some differences, but it’s really similar. It’s too bad we have to do this at night. I’d love to spend some time looking around.”

It was a bit disappointing that they couldn’t spend more time on this world. As an Enforcer, she did get to travel quite a bit and see these different worlds, but Nanoha didn’t really get that opportunity. Sure, they’ve been to other worlds together but not really long enough to explore.

At the transfer room, the tech crew was all ready for them. The coordinates they had been given would put them just outside of the city, in a forested area to hide their arrival. Triangulated locations of recent activity had been transferred to their Devices to aid them in their search. With their Barrier Jackets on and Devices in hand, the pair was transferred to the planet below. Just as they were told, they found themselves in the outlying forest.

Accel Fin.

It was already past midnight local time, which meant they had six or seven hours tops before people started to wake up. Seeing two people flying around the city would definitely not be something they wanted the residents to wake up to. The city itself was relatively small. It reminded Nanoha of her home town in a way: large, but not overly crowded by tall structures with that suburban feel to it.

“Look, Fate-chan! An amusement park!”

Following her friend’s hand, her eyes fell upon the park. It looked fairly large, with a rollercoaster and a large 4-faced clock at its center. Almost all the lights were off except for the red warning lights atop the higher structures.

“Hm, I think this city has yours one-upped, Nanoha.”

“Mou, I wish we had one when I was growing up. It looks so fun!”

Fate giggled as they flew past. No matter how old she got, she was still that innocent little girl inside.

Sir, I’m detecting possible Lost Logia at 100 meters.

Both wore a serious expression at the news. Having encountered and sealed numerous Lost Logia, their Devices had a kind of attunement towards detecting Lost Logia. It was rare for them to be wrong, but it did happen on occasion. They picked up their pace, hoping to end it quickly though that was rarely the case.

Landing on the ground, they did a quick survey of their surroundings. They were outside the city on the more residential area. Numerous trees lined a few paths around an artificial lake. The area they landed in was open and appeared to be a playground of sorts. It had swings, rocking horses, a sand pit, and what appeared to be a large slide in the shape of a penguin. The air around them tingled with magic residue.

“I think we found the place,” Nanoha remarks, carefully searching the area for the smugglers and the Lost Logia.

Besides the magic in the air, there was nothing unusual about the playground. No magical devices, guards, or barriers anywhere. They had originally thought that the smugglers used a barrier to hide their goods from the residents, but apparently they were wrong.

“Do you think they heard we were coming and packed up?”

Fate shakes her head, “There was another ship monitoring the planet the past 2 days. No one’s come or gone from the planet. So that means they either haven’t come back yet…”

“…or they never left,” Nanoha finishes, tightening her grip on Raising Heart.

Approaching the penguin slide, Fate peers around inside looking for any sign of the Lost Logia.

“Hey, Nanoha. This slide…it looks like it’s been moved recently.”

“Moved? You think they hid it under…”

She doesn’t get to finish her sentence as a grey sphere of magic slams into her auto-guard barrier. Fate wastes no time and takes to the sky to search out their attacker with Bardiche switching to Haken Form. The forested area makes it difficult for her to visually locate whoever it was. Burgundy eyes dart around in the darkness, waiting for the next attack to come. Almost on cue, another shot flies out of the trees, but this time towards her.

Haken Saber.

With a quick swing of her arm, she sends the yellow blade spinning towards the oncoming attack. It effortlessly slices and neutralizes the magical projectile and continues on towards the forest below. She watches as a figure flies up from the trees to avoid the spinning blade.

“Got you.”

Fate dives towards the smuggler with Bardiche remaining in Assault Form. As she neared, she could start to make out the figure. It appeared to be a male, slightly muscular build in his 30’s or so. He wore a black and dark blue outfit, probably a Barrier Jacket if the staff in his right hand was any sign. The staff itself was standard TSAB issue, which meant it was either stolen or bought through the black market. He raised his staff and fired off several more shots at the approaching Enforcer.

Defenser.

They slam harmlessly into the yellow barrier as Fate keeps on her approach. Out of the corner of her eye she could see Nanoha had taken to the skies and was moving to approach from behind.

“This is Enforcer Fate T. Harlaown of the TSAB, You are in violation of inter-dimensional transportation law and the possession of illegal goods. Drop your weapons and land!”

The man grimaced and looked from Fate to Nanoha before taking off as fast as he could. Fate swore under her breath as they always chose the hard way out.

“Nanoha!”

Her friend nodded and leveled her Device towards the fleeing smuggler.

“Let’s go Raising Heart!”

Alright. Buster Mode.

A pink magic circle manifests beneath her feet as she charges her attack.

“Divine…Bust…!”

She isn’t able to finish when something slams into her from below. Unable to stop herself, the pink beam flies out off-course. She quickly recovers and finds her attack heading straight towards the city. Since she had set it for magic damage only, there was no danger to the structures. However, if it hit someone that had any magic potential…

A few meters back Fate watches the second smuggler take off after the first. They should have known that there was more than likely more than one of them based on the information that was gathered. Right now, however her concern was on the stray attack. She knew Nanoha wouldn’t be able to catch up to it, but if she used her Sonic Form she would be able to just make it to hopefully stop it. It was risky as she had almost no defenses or defense spells in that form and she knew all too well how much that spell hurt. She needed to do something, and that something had to be done now.

“Bardiche, Overdrive, New…”

The pink beam suddenly slams into something before it could reach the city. She stops and stares. There was no barrier or protection spell used by either of them, let alone at that distance. Both are momentarily surprised at the momentary event before turning their attention back to the fleeing smugglers. They take off in pursuit and quickly close the distance. This doesn’t go unnoticed by the pair. With Devices raised, the smugglers turn and prepare to fire.

“Wind, become my binding chain. WINDY!”

Nanoha and Fate stop their pursuit, watching in confusion as something wraps around the smugglers and restrains them. They couldn’t tell for sure, but it looked like some kind of…person. It was definitely female but almost transparent, perhaps a familiar of sorts. The two Aces continue to cautiously watch the pair being dragged to the ground, still struggling against whatever it was. Out of the corner of her eye, Nanoha noticed some movement and turned to look. She could only blink in surprise at being a girl, probably no older than them, descending to the ground holding a staff of sorts with elegant white wings coming out of her back.

“Um, Fate-chan…?”

“I see her, too. I think she might be the familiar’s master.”

They also begin their descent, keeping an eye on the smugglers as well as the girl. As they reach the ground, the girl reaches into her pocket and pulls out some kind of long paper or card. She tosses it into the air, materializing a magic circle they had never seen before beneath her feet.

“Give them temporary slumber, SLEEP!”

To their surprise, the card glows and transforms into a small, fairy-like creature. It floats over to the smugglers and slowly circles above them. The next thing they knew, they had stopped struggling and were fast asleep. With its task done, the fairy floated back to the girl along with the odd familiar that was acting as a bind. As they approached the girl, they glowed and reverted back to cards in her hands.

“Thank you for your help.”

Fate looked over at Nanoha. Apparently she was thanking her cards. Perhaps they were some kind of familiar they hadn’t encountered before. Turning their attention back to the girl they found her staring back at them with her staff, which they noticed was quite pink with a yellow star at the top in the middle of a circle, gripped tightly in her hands. No words were exchanged until Nanoha took a step forward.

“Um…”

Master!

Nanoha jerked her head up just in time to see a large fireball heading their way.

Round Shield.

The pink barrier materialized just in time to protect the pair from the attack. As the barrier dropped, they saw a large winged cat creature snarling at them from the girl’s side. They raised their Devices in preparation for another attack.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you. Cerberus can be a little…jumpy.”

Fate whips around to find another person standing behind them. This one was a tall male in robes of some sort. His long, silver hair, white wings, and almost feminine complexion stood out at her, but not as much as the large white arrow he had aimed at them.

“Who are you? What do you want?!” growled the winged cat, Cerberus.

“We don’t mean you any harm. We were sent here to capture those smugglers and the goods they were transporting,” states Nanoha.

“If that is true, drop your weapons,” comes the man behind them.

Nanoha glances at Fate who nods. Their Devices revert back to their inactive forms and are carefully set on the ground.

“You still haven’t said who you are. Who sent you? That brat Erio?”

Fate shakes her head, “We don’t know any Erio. This is Nanoha Takamachi and I’m Fate T. Harlawon of the TSAB…”

“TSAB? Dimensional travelers?” questions the man again.

This time Nanoha nods, “Yes, that would be us.”

“Well, why didn’t you say so!” chuckles Cerberus, losing his stern appearance.

Now that was a reaction they weren’t expecting and from the blank expression of the girl, she was just as lost as them.

“Come, let us take this conversation somewhere more comfortable. I’m sure your superiors can handle the smugglers.”

That was true, especially with them knocked out. Plus the TSAB would want them to investigate this new form of magic on a Non-Administered world. Fate walks over to the still sleeping smugglers and attaches a beacon to them before stepping back. In a flash of light they vanish as Nanoha explains the situation to the mission leader.

“Alright. They said that they’ll send a team down to recover the Lost Logia.”

Fate nods and turns her attention back to the man.

“Where do you propose we go?”

“Ah, let’s head over to Tomoyo’s. Her mother’s out of town and has a lot more room. Plus she was all those delicious cakes!” grins Cerberus with a dreamy look, “C’mon, let’s go Sakura.”

The girl, Sakura, stares blankly for a moment.

“HOEEE?!”

A short flight later, the group finds themselves sitting in the large room of Tomoyo Daidoji. The winged man, introducing himself as Yue, sat across from them next to Sakura. Her friend, Tomoyo, was present with them sitting on her own chair. Cerberus, having changed to his more compact form, was currently grinning madly on the table stuffing sweets down his throat.

“Ahh~ Sweets, sweets~ So lovely sweets~.”

The two TSAB officers could only stare in slight shock and confusion at the now small creature. Going from a fierce, large creature to…that was quite peculiar.

“I believe you have a few questions about us?” asks Yue.

“We do. But first, how do you know about us, the TSAB? We have yet to make any contact with this world and yet you know of our existence and apparently our purpose, too,” questions Fate.

“Ah, that would be because Clow Reed told us about you,” answers Cerberus after finishing another cookie, “Clow was a powerful sorcerer who lived many decades ago. He is the one who created the Clow, now Sakura, Cards, Yue, and me.”

“He was very powerful, having been able to see into the future to who the heir to the Cards would be among other things,” finishes Yue.

“And among other things includes the TSAB?”

“Yes,” agrees Cerberus, “He had told us that there would be the day where we would be visited by you as well as your interest in our magic.”

Nanoha nods, “We haven’t seen your type of magic before. Would it be possible for you to tell us more?”

“Ah, now that would be up to the Mistress of the Cards.”

All eyes turned to the teenage girl in the room who had been listening intently to the current conversation.

“A-ah! Um, I guess it wouldn’t hurt. But could you tell me more about your world? I never thought other dimensions existed!”

Nanoha giggles, “Deal.”

Sakura explains to the pair about the fundamentals behind the Cards as she had learned from Syaoran and her guardians as well as about some of the cards she uses. The conversation switches over to Nanoha and fate who tell the girl about their own experiences with magic and the TSAB. All the while, Tomoyo gleefully films the entire thing for her collection.

“Waa…so you two were rivals before you became friends?”

“Yup! It was difficult back then, but now we’re the best of friends,” grins Nanoha.

“Mmm…sounds like you can Syaoran, Sakaura-chan!”

“H-hoe?” she blushes at the mention of her boyfriend.

“You know Nanoha, it sounds like the two of you have had similar introductions to magic.”

“Hmm, now that you mention it, it does seem that way Fate-chan.”

“You should have seen her back then! It was quite a sight to see her learning to deal with magic,” chuckles Cerberus.

“Kero-chan!”

“I bet it would have been interesting to see,” grins Fate.

“Actually…would you like to see?”

Nanoha and Fate both turn to Tomoyo, “What do you mean?”

“I managed to film all of Sakura-chan’s adventures! I can show you if you want.”

“Oh, that would be great!”

On the couch, Sakura could only blush in embarrassment as her best friend practically skipped out to grab her collection with a twinkle in her eyes.

Several hours later, Nanoha and Fate found themselves heading back on the Claudia. What was supposed to be a short report ended up being a long report on what they had discovered on that world. It had taken them the majority of the trip to finish their reports before they forgot anything.

“That was some adventure, huh Fate-chan?”

“Yea. Who knew we would end up encountering a potentially unknown magic system?”

“Sakura-chan is such a sweet girl. ‘Everything will be alright’ is definitely a powerful spell.”

“I imagine it is. Perhaps we should have Yuuno see if he has any information on this Clow Reed when we see him next. For someone so powerful, there might be something on him.”

“Sounds good. I can’t help be reminded of myself when we were watching those videos.”

For one reason or another, the image of a 9 year old Nanoha with a pink wand and a matching frilly dress and hat popped into Fate’s head enticing some giggles.

“Fate-chan? Something wrong?”

Looking up at her friend didn’t help the matter as the little Nanoha in her head was prancing around and waving the wand around. It became too much for the Enforcer, sending her to the floor rolling around in laughter.

“Mou, Fate-chan!”

Nice! I really liked it. I started laughing when I imagined what Fate was thinking of in the end.

-I was initially thinking that Fate should get really pissed with Nanoha for nearly blowing their cover, but when I wrote out the dialog, it just didn't work so I changed it up.
-Basically, Fate and Nanoha have been sleeping together because it's just easier for the two of them, as they often have very late nights because of their zombie hunting. Nanoha's parents understand, for the most part.

Also: CSS/Nanoha? Best crossover ever. There was some talk about something like this on 4chan earlier, and no one understood why I thought that it would be such a cool idea. Now I think that they might.

Looks like Nanoha's getting picked on, which is interesting as I'd always pictured Fate in that context, but this makes sense too.

And I think that its a good idea to plan out the entire fic like you've done.

-I was initially thinking that Fate should get really pissed with Nanoha for nearly blowing their cover, but when I wrote out the dialog, it just didn't work so I changed it up.
-Basically, Fate and Nanoha have been sleeping together because it's just easier for the two of them, as they often have very late nights because of their zombie hunting. Nanoha's parents understand, for the most part.

Also: CSS/Nanoha? Best crossover ever. There was some talk about something like this on 4chan earlier, and no one understood why I thought that it would be such a cool idea. Now I think that they might.

Lady of Darkness

The first rays of the days hit straight onto his sleepy face. Was it something the hospital had planned while making the room or just unlucky coincidence. But after what had happened, he was little tired to coincidences. The power of the name RF6 was amazing as just by mentioning it Erio got himself a room to sleep and food to eat. The hospital had suprisingly many vacant rooms and even Caro got herself one to spend the night in. Despite this, Erio found her peacefully leaning on his bed, still wearing her famous pink, native dress. Even that it was vacation, he quickly found himself on his feet and flexing for the training that wouldn't come.

”Sleep tight, Caro.” Erio waved and left the girl snoozing in his bed. Walking down the light green corridors, he noticed that there weren't that many awake. A yawn here and there mostly. He didn't have a destination, so he just wandered the empty corridors.

”Yo, Rio-tan.” A wheelchaired man greeted, rolling down the corridor.

”Morning, Same.” Erio responded and continued after he was nearer. ”Why are you still here?”

”Watching you.” Same answered and managed nearly impossible sideways grid with his vehicle. ”Slept well?”

”I did. No strange voices or anything.” Erio shook his head.

”Well of course not, you're finished already.” Same winked. ”I think as a half-blood, they came just because of the actual god's precense. Yuchi hadn't heard anything in his childhood.” He explained. ”But stop wasting your time here and go back to your girl.” He shooed the boy.

”My girl?” Erio questioned, tilting his.

”Innocence of the children.” Same sighed and slumped his shoulders. ”Just return to your room.” He wheeled away, shaking his head.

”Why does everybody think Caro is my girl?” Erio pondered and followed Same's instructions.

Opening the door he found the pink haired girl still sleeping on the bed. With a brief smile, Erio sat on the seat Caro used to sleep on.

”Practise spells, huh?” Erio pondered with his eyes closed. ”Better try to learn something before the big thing.” He shook his hands and cracked his neck.

-Harness lighting- Erio casted, hoping to gather lighting. ”Figures...” He sighed as there was no reaction.

”Caro won't be waking up so maybe I'll find Same...” Erio thought and left the girl alone again.

”Baaad Rio-tan. Didn't I just tell you go back to your girl?” Same glared still in a wheelchair.

”She's sleeping.” Erio brough his finger on his mouth. ”Anyway, I wanted to talk to you.” He put his hands to his pockets.

”I bet she didn't care...” Same mumbled. ”Yes?”

”Last night, you adviced me to use practise spells but I can't even do those.”

”What did you try?”

”Something to gather lighting, basic as it can be.” Erio lifted his shoulders.

”Uh... You didn't get the part about your linker core being corrupted?” Same sighed. ”I heard from the team geek, and I agree with them, that you are no longer a mage with lighting affinity.” He pointed.

”Corrupted and thus changed, huh?” Erio scratched his chin. ”So what is it now?”

”Something about lighting affinity's sub-affinity: vibration and waves.” Same answered after overworking his brains.

”Vibration and waves... Kinda small area.” Erio complained.

”And you think manipulating shadows is that much bigger? Sheesh, you people are so simple minded.” Same flailed.

”Ah, yes. Every Selshin school was pretty narrowed, right?”

”Very.” Same nodded. ”But if there are rules, bend them, abuse them. It's allowed if nobody forbids it.” He finished, rotating his hand in air.

”But there's always the magic system itself on the way.” Erio grinned lopsided.

”You must figure the rules before you can abuse them.” Same winked and wheeled away again. ”But seriously, stay with your girl.” He adviced before vanishing behind a corner.

”Why do people think we're a pair?” Erio sighed. ”We wouldn't even be in junior high...” He reasoned and opened the door, finding once again a girl peacefully snoozing on the bed.

He sat once again on the folding chair and crossed his arms. ”I better work hard to catch up with everyone.” He closed his eyes and made himself comfortable in the chair. ”Rules...”

”Waffles again?” Fate turned her head at the woman, bringing a pile of waffles for her.

”Buut~ last time they didn't get eaten.” Nanoha complained.

”What if I get fat?” Fate pouted and accepted the stack.

”Then we will be fat together.” Nanoha promised before stuffing a load of waffles in her mouth. ”You don't happen to know where the syrup is, do you?” She grinned playfully.

”I'm never eating syrup again.” Fate muttered and dug in her stack.

”Was it that bad?” Nanoha lowered her head. ”I'm sorry...”

”I-it's not that but... losing hair can be traumatizing...” Fate stuttered. ”for some!” She added.

”Atleast your hair loss isn't seen by everybody.” Nanoha ruffled her hair. ”I look like a tomboy now.”

”But I like this look.” Fate smiled and rubbed her back.

”I do too, but I still miss my pony...” Nanoha groaned. ”Which one do you like better?” She asked, placing a waffle in her mouth.

”Um...” Fate brough her hand below her chin and thought deeply. ”I like Nanoha as herself best, so the hair she has and likes is the best for her.” She answered, vaguely.

”So if I was bald you would still like me?” Nanoha muttered and looked somewhat embarrassed, which was something you didn't see often.

”If you like it.” Fate smiled.

”Afro?” Nanoha gleamed.

”I have to think about that.” Fate turned her head and placed her hand again below her chin.

”What happened to your Nanodom?”

”Nanoha fandom? You delurious girl.” Fate poked Nanoha's nose. ”I accept every other hairstyle but afro.”

”Why not afro?” Nanoha tilted her head.

”It gets on the way.” Fate stuck her tongue out.

”Isn't that bold? Gets on the way...” Nanoha giggled malovently.

”It sure would.”

”No denial?!” She twitched up from the couch in shock.

”Who knows, I might like it.” Fate teased.

”Like... it...?” Nanoha blushed, imagining intensively.

”Your mind is dirty.” Fate grinned.

”I wasn't thinking anything... dirty...” Nanoha ignored Fate's teasing look and returned to her stack. ”You're dirty for thinking I was thinking dirty.” She spouted.

”Says she, who covered her friend in syrup...” Fate muttered and turned back to her waffles.

”Best friend.” Nanoha corrected and grabbed Fate in a hug from behind. ”Still not blushing? You sure have grown a strong resistance to Nanoism.”

”It's your fault for overteasing me.” Fate turned in the loose hold. ”And what's with your obsession of naming things after yourself?” She smirked.

”Just wait 'till I name a planet Nanoland.”

”Where would you get a planet?” Fate grinned.

”We're deeply involved in god business, so I guess I will write them a reguest.” Nanoha smiled and after a quick cheeck kiss, let Fate go from her arms.

”Can I join you there?” Fate nudged herself closer Nanoha.

”It will be our summer cottage. Just imagine,” Nanoha painted the sky with her hand. ”a planet size of a bicycle trip just for the two of us.” She moved her hand on Fate's shoulder.

”I can't wait.” Fate smiled and gave a light peck on Nanoha's nose.

”This...” Nanoha moved away and caressed her nose with her hand.

”If you want to keep kissing me, you better get used to those.” Fate winked and returned to her waffles.

”Something is different today.” Nanoha thought and did the same. ”But I'm not complaining.” She grabbed her fork and started loading the warm waffles in her mouth.

”Linque-san!” A woman in brown called for the white haired man.

”Shari-san,” The man turned around. ”good morning.” He bowed slightly.

”Morning.” Shari managed to say between her panting. ”We got the big thing in 2 days and you still haven't even reguested a device.”

”I don't think I need one.” Linque pondered. ”Visualisation of Weapon. I got everything I need here.” His hands flashed and two sabers appeared in his hands.

”But you can't make barrier jackets with that or make phone calls.” Shari stated.

”Hmm... Indeed I can't.” Linque looked at his hands and humphed. ”Well I won't be needing a weapon.” He slumped his shoulders and the two sabers vanished.

”Storage device?”

”I'm pretty sure those had a weapon form too.” Linque reminenced. ”I heard Aren-kun's device only created boots or gloves. Something as useless, please.”

”You shouldn't look down on the engineering department that much. Aren's device is best for him.” Shari waved her finger scoldingly. ”Tell me your speciality and I'll make a device perfect for you.” She puffed her chest.

”I can store actions in time and place.”

”That might be a bit hard...” Shari scratched her head. ”Maybe I'll make something not so fighting dependant.”

”Actually, don't make anything yet. I need to ask Crondo if you could modify my relic.” Linque crossed his arms.

”But your relic doesn't even exist in this realm. How could I even modify something like that?”

”You're mistaken.” Linque showed his left ear. ”Look.” He pointed.

”I can't do anything to a jewel tiny as that without breaking the whole thing down.” Shari declared after seeing the tiny blue gem in the man's ear.

”I see...” Linque let his hair go. ”Just boost the jacket to maxinum power then.” He lifted his shoulders.

”If I did that you wouldn't have any mana for yourself.” Shari grinned. ”But I guess you're not using it anyway.”

”There's only one use for it but it's pretty dangerous, so do take all you can get from there.” He encouraged.

”But you don't have it at the moment, I can't see how much it creates in the first place.” Shari frowned. ”I guess we will have to postpone this.” She lifted her eyebrows and sighed.

”We have lots of time in the future.” Linque smiled.

”If you get that far without any protection.” Shari glared at Linque with a teasing look.

”Indeed.” Linque laughed. ”Putting that aside, how did your date go?”

”Not that good. Yuuno was stalking us and then there was that earthquake Erio caused. Otherwise it was fun.” Shari explained.

”Friends fun or lovers fun?” Linque teased.

”Friends fun.” Shari answered, matching Linque's gaze.

”That's a good start.” Linque patted Shari's head and continued walking.

”Better than most.” Shari waved and departed to the opposite direction.

There was nothing to do now for him. He had spent the past days in learning and experiencing in the new world but now he was bored. The half month payment had ran out and he was now penniless, so he just wandered the corridors trying to find something to do.

Slightly worried of yesterday, he made his way to the forward quaters, hoping to find Lanlai there.

”Lanlai-chan.” He knocked on a door.

”Yes, Linque-nii?” A young girl replied from the room.

”I heard you took out your gems.” Linque leaned on the wall next to the door and slid down.

”I'm okay.” Lanlai stated.

”No you're not.” Linque deduced and descended on the floor. After a brief silence he continued ”Stop hiding yourself behind that mask of yours.”

”I don't want to.” Lanlai pouted with slightly sad voice.

”You think you can keep it? If you can, then go ahead.” Linque sighed. ”But if you can't, finish your mourning quickly. We have more important things than to worry about our past.” He lifted his body up from the floor with his left hand.

”I know. That's why I threw it out.” Lanlai slammed the door open. Her face was cold and determined. ”I've already given away my past.”

”Then I worried over nothing.” Linque grinned and turned around. ”But cry for these two days anyway.” He left with a wave.

”You... idiot.” Lanlai stormed back to her room and buried her head in a pillow. ”I'm honestly trying.”
