The 1:1 adaption is really amazing, without any censorship or scnenes ommitted. The animators indeed have some guts. 10/10.

The only issue is that is a 12 episode serie with the manga still going on so or they go with an original ending or an open ending and maybe more seasons depending of the home video revenues.

Oh, also i prefer this spin-off than the main serie, is much better, and hopefully scanlators will resume the manga stalled at chapter 41, is a good advenrtisement.

The exaggeration of bullying and the setup for a "magical girl moment" is just as fabricated as a practical joke.

My hope is that we start here to put Aya in a dark starting place from which she can recover into a better life, and not leave her in this constant torture porn.

I'm giving in the 3 episode rule to lighten up a bit, but if its this brutal in the future, I'm going to drop.

This isn't a spin off, it's just the same writer/artist team with a similar idea. Unless you've seen further down the story than I have.

I wish they had done the first story though. That's much further along and it's an incredible roller coaster.

I am amused by the number of people noping out though. I completely understand why they would, and I was the same way at first.

But the writer never goes the direction you'd think, even if his settings are over the top bleak craziness.

There are three types of people in this story: shit, shittier, and those who get shit on.

Also, real talk for a moment. Bullying like this might seem over the top, but having been a victim of bullying and watched it happen to others....it's really not as impossible as it looks. Cyber bullying is very common now, but old school bullying still exists, and yes....there's a reason bullying concerns people. It literally can and does drive people to murder and suicide.

As an example:

Well, Aya's case at this point she might as well want to watch the world burn and we couldn't blame her for it. I'm hoping at the very least she at least "cleans up" a bit.

For a moment there I thought this anime looked like a over-the-top super-ultra edgy version of Jigoku Shoujo.

Also, just because Junko Furuta happened in real life doesn't mean it has to happen on anime too. Humanity is inherently evil, Hobbes already told us that. No need to rub it in.

Watched episode 1:

What is this...???? authors tried hard to cram so many bully tropes in one episode.. severe school bullying, attempted rape, psychopath brother, killing of innocent cat (WTF). Show really begs for attention eh? Glad that some of those who killed the cat also got killed on episode 1, good work train. Would not be watching episode 2 of this.

I'm not the target audience for this show.... ---- DROPPED LIKE A ROCK. I regret being excited to watch this.

I was personally surprised by the teacher. Was he really unable to see and tell what a mess had been made of her desk? And he just "yeah whatever just sit your damn a&& down", really? I'm sorry, but THIS level of bullying practically requires active, maliciously deliberate ignorance. Rule of thumb with bullying from what I've seen is that they aim for tactics that won't be obvious or leave clear evidence, and if they do they choose stuff that's not immediately apparent or traceable. These people's harassment on the other hand couldn't get more blatant or obvious unless they dragged her to the front and had Shota come in and rape her on the teacher's desk.
