Nonfiction I've read:
"You Gotta Have Wa" by Robert Whiting - about Japanese baseball, but in more general about Japan & the west. This will really help your insight of anime especially the 'fighting spirit'. A related (but inferior) book is "Japan in the Land of the Broken-Hearted" by Michael Shapiro, inferior because I thought the author had a bit of an attitude problem toward Japan. Insightful nevertheless if you can get past the author's prejudices. |

Woohoo! I finally finished Warfare: In the Realm of Angels by J.K. MacDonald. It got very good at the end, and was a very enjoyable read. It's fairly short, but good stuff nonetheless. I think it's a very good start to what looks to be a riveting series. Check it out if you get the chance.

I've recently finished re-reading (for the 21309487th time) my two favorite books of all time, A House Without a Christmas Tree by Gail Rock and A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Yes, they're both children's books that you can read through in one day, but to me, both of them are the most beautiful things to ever be put on paper.
No, I'm not sleepy, but very close.

Just finished David Hume's Enquiries concerning Human Understanding (1748).
May have to read it again to make sure he wrote I what I think he wrote.

Within the month, I've re-read Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce, read Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, The Stranger by Albert Camus, Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami, The Dream of the Red Chamber vol. 2 by Cao Xueqin, Sophie's Choice by William Styron, The Wars by Timothy Findley. I'll simply post or edit my post if I forgot something.
I dropped Hyperion by Dan Simmons. He reminded me how much I hated science fiction. Also, I stopped reading The Folding Star by Alan Hollinghurst, because it was steeped in lustful homosexual men. So far, not a bad month in terms of reading for me.
