Hmm ... the second pv was not bad ... but even with that it is difficult for me to get a clear picture of the overall feel of the series yet. I dunno....
Well, nothing to do but wait and see, I suppose.

The manga had a surprising amount of depth. The author takes the setting seriously and put a lot of thought into the characters. More than you would think possible for a comedy series.

I wonder how KyoAni will handle the material? Hopefully they will give the characters their proper due....

But those were by different studios and they were not full episode length series. Also they were much less filled with "non-fantasy" elements. The different story elements is one thing, yes, but, again, I am more curious about how KyoAni will adapt the source material.

Are you going to start naming any number of books that KyoAni own? All changes in Amagi and FMP are the author Gatoh's idea. No, that other one is their own IP. No, that one is their own IP too. And that other one over there they did make changes to, but it is a massively loved property and I never heard anyone complain about it. So, where did you get your "record" from? The same source that talk about KyoAni "sameface", the one that think moe is evil, and that thinks KyoAni should be destroyed for killing the industry?

The fear against Kyoani handling any adaptation are very well founded.
It is true when it comes to IP's they don't own they can do a really good job, there we have Amagi as the most recent one, with some changes done in order to make the flow of the story better without going into the most juicy details. On the other hand, there we have a lot of adaptations (titles owned by them) where Kyoani completely ruined the experience, the story, character development and even the coherence of story. Hibike S1 was near 60% adapted following the books turning it into a yurifest, Phantom World was completely destroyed and ruined, Chuu2 was an abomination, Nichijou suffered from their incompetence too and the same goes for Tamako Market. Ironically these "little" details are always something that Kyoani fans forget, while the rest of the people always remember Kyoani is very capable to do amazing things but at the same time they are able to destroy a good story. Now regarding the upcoming adaptations, personally I have hopes for this one and for Violet Evergarden (LN I liked quite a lot), maybe it's time to see Kyoani shine again... but we'll see. |

The only bad fallout of Kyoani adaptations that I can verify myself was the K-ON series. The author literally became unable to give the college saga justice, but you can say that it was Kakifly's own fault.

I hope one day new KyoAni shows can be announced without being judged to oblivion by the western fanbase, as if the same potential issues don't apply to every other studio.
PV looking good. I can always appreciate some light comedy with decent animation in my line-up.

Just a reminder that studio discussion that goes beyond the scope of this thread is off-topic.
Since the lack of constructive discussion caused the closure of the studio thread itself, please don't use this thread as a substitute. Thank you. |
