They said it on 2ch, too. Then there are several images of people who buy a Gyan/model kits for their child (guessing based on the image, I would say around 5 years old).

And if you still don't understand why Mom get that much popularity, you should watch more old anime. Hint: her seiyuu.

Truth be told, I find she's very cute. It's just that she hasn't done anything and was overshadowed by Sei's mom/Ramba Ral in episode 1, and then there goes "MOEAGARE" in episode 2. She just needs to do something first before the fanbase pays attention to her.

She's actually one of those that get earliest fanart.
