Seriously? God-Ki Frieza? Well if they were going to bring him back, I guess that would be the only logical way to make him a threat. Though I wonder...how does he learn to use that kind of ki?

This Frieza is most likely going to be from one of the other universes we heard about at the end of the movie. Dragon balls can't bring back someone dead for more than a year anyway.

It might be the translator but I find the use of "an Earth" interesting, indicating an alternative reality also Kururin, Yamacha and Vegeta have their old looks and judging by Yamacha's hairstyle it might take place during the Trunks saga.

As usual, I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I found Freeza to be far and away the best villain in the series, so it might be interesting to see Toriyama's take on him after so long. On the other, he might end up doing a disservice to the original character, as was the case with Freeza's previous "glorious returns" in Fusion Reborn or DBGT (granted, those were filler and not written by him).

Meanwhile the far cooler Tenshinhan is nowhere to be seen.

I guess he's just not as useful when it comes to comic relief, which is probably what Yamucha's there for (I'm assuming this film will be as comedy-oriented and lighthearted as Battle of Gods).

I hope Vegeta can kick some ass in this upcoming movie. And seeing Freiza back brings me some mixed thoughts on this as well....

I like the villain from the original series though.

Seriously, Frieza? Sorry, but my hype for the movie has plummeted. Even with God Ki, which I don't see how or why he'd get it beyond the meta reason of bringing him back for another battle, I don't see how he'd be a match for the heroes.

Also, anyone else notice Goku's gi has a new symbol?

Plus they probably want to retire his character as much as possible, since if I recall his VA passed away. This is why he wasn't in the Yo Son Goku! special and the theatrical release of Battle of Gods. I think he had all of one line in the extended BD edition.

Since his original VA passed away, they've already had Midorikawa Hikaru play him throughout the entirety of Dragon Ball Kai as well as some of the more recent videogames, so I don't see why they would neglect to include him in new movies/OVAs/specials for that reason. Mr. Satan's VA passed away much more recently (took his own life, even) but IIRC the character's had a decent amount of lines in recent animated stuff.

Actually, looking closer now.... it looks like Vegeta's outfit is slightly different too. Guess we can expect SOME new outfits in this movie aside from the regular anime stuff.

Why won't they do a flick in Future Trunks is Universe timeline?

Only have Goku a live or actually allow Future Gohan do what the creator wanted to do, have Gohan replace Goku save the world. What a Universe that he gets to have his idea happen?

Oh well, I wonder if in this Universe if Goten will be a live? In Future Trunks he's not.
It'd make more sense if that was Gohan instead of Yamcha, even Krillin had more of an impact at the start of Z than that guy. I'm going to assume he's not with 18 yet either here? I'm curious how different every thing will be in this world.

Cell might have been a fun choice too. But I think Frieza is the most well-known DBZ villain even among non-fans so the writers might be counting on that to boost movie sales.

I wish it was on a villain we've never seen or one that he wasn't dead yet and actually managed to attack earth before Trunks arrived and saved every one. Could have been more fun, than every one could have been involved in this fight cuz every one was gathered around in order to fight him. I don't know about this new form of his, worst wish? Did some one wish him back to life maybe? One of his half dead henchmen?

I think the next film should take place in the future Trunks Universe. I wonder if Goten will be a live in this one?
