Fic Update

I think it's been 8 months since I've updated.

Code Geass: Lelouch of Brittania

Chapter 23: The Honey Trap
Words: 7,823

Chapter Summary: Kallen plots with the Ohgi group against Lelouch, who suspects nothing, as Clovis gets ready to throw Lelouch a High Society Party to welcome him to Area Eleven. Which girl will Lelouch decide to escort?

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3816236/23/

Summary for the Entire Story: History often hinges on a moment. What if young Lelouch avoided the fate of exile and remained with the royal family? All roles become reversed. The tale of Lelouch's quest for power and vengeance as the Black Prince of the Empire.

Another excellent chapter. Tamaki looking at Ohgi with "a particularly stinging kind of pity" has to be my favorite line.

YES! Lelouch of Britannia! I was almost afraid it was on permenant hiatus. See, Nobodyman? You should update your story, too.

Still... I'm looking forward to this, and the next chapter of Megiddo. Both are very good. Cheers.

Yeah yeah, I'm workin' on it

Anyway, my favorite paragraph from the chapter:

"Unlike Nina Einstein, Shirley Fenette was far above average in every physical respect; long auburn hair that caught and glowed under sunlight, a great figure, and a face that boys from the Poetry Society wrote sonnets for. But unlike most people gifted with great looks, Shirley did not try to make herself the center of attention. She was almost saint-like in that regard, possessing the enough humility to make her blind to the shortcomings of those around her."

*sigh* You truly do do her justice Cal

Of course, seeing as how I'm a huge Shirlulu fan, I'm dying to know what role she'll play in your story and if she'll have a thing with Lelouch, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

The fact that you quoted the paragraph just made me like Shirley more. You also helped me spot a typo and a odd phrase, which I just went and corrected. Thank you.

Shirley was one of the few characters which the original series developed well--the same can not be said for most others. I don't know what her role in my story will be in the long run though, due to the changed circumstances.

People also seem to enjoy Ohgi being pitied upon. I'll keep that in mind.

Ha ha, well I'm glad I could help (in more ways than one)

Ah, really? Well, I'm sure whatever you come up with for her will be great Oh, and what "changed circumstances" if you don't mind me asking?

I meant the whole situation of how Lelouch is a Prince. In the show, he and Shirley at least shared 2 years of high school together, and Shirley's feelings for him are ready and apparent by episode 1. In this story though, Lelouch is a complete stranger to her, a celebrity.

Oh, I see. Gotcha (I thought maybe you meant something had changed for you during the course of writing the story )

EDIT: Oh, and one more question and then I PROMISE I'll leave you alone So are you mostly playing this story by ear, or do you have some kind of general outline planned out, or do you have a set plan for certain characters, but not so much for other characters?

I have a general plan, a skeleton if you would. Some chapters will advance the main plot while others won't, but instead develop characters and relationships (in support of the main plot).

I have more ideas for some characters and relationships than others.

Thought the chap over all was done pretty well. I do like the build up to the party, it had a very electric atmosphere.

The Marika/Villetaa scene was great, just because it makes a lot of sense. Marika is being thrust into this unit base on her brother's legacy which I'm sure really chaffs at her. It'd be interesting if she was also upset that she was being taken from the front. She might have subconsciously wanted revenge on the Euro trash. There she was, a pilot in one of the elite squad of the most war mongering knight, but then is thrust into the position of a glorified nurse maid. I'd be a upset too.

Liked the alley scene, but really though, who has snipers in their retinue for "protection"

Funny we didn't see Shirley's reaction to being saved, but i'm sure it'll come up at the party.

Can't wait to see all the games when the party starts.

I haven't really considered that aspect of Marika's discontent; so far I've portrayed her as blaming Lelouch for Kewell's death, and not disappointment over being pulled away. I should address that some times.

I completely forgot about Shirley's reaction. I'll remember that for next chapter.

They don't have to be snipers; it may be just a few stories. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

Having snipers is not that far fetched, you'd want a couple set up along the route the VIP will use to scan nearby rooftops and windows for potential assassin snipers. The Secret Service certainly uses them, specially after JFK.

Anyways, I read all 23 chapters and I gotta tell ya, very nice job! Enjoyed reading all of it. Can't wait to see how Kallen's group will do.
