Generally my top choices are trance/techno/dance, classical, and new age (particularly songs from the Pacific Moon sound label - they're new age, generally with an Asian twist). I listen to a wide variety of music though, depending on my mood.

Does anyone else notice that the type of music that they're listening to impacts the style of their posts? I find that I need to watch out for that, as listening to overly dramatic music can cause me to use some overly dramatic rhetoric in my posts

I wonder if I'll get the urge to whine about how unfair the world is to me if I post while listening to one of those popular pop/punk/emo bands

Though I still haven't gotten the urge of raping Christian women and pillaging Saxon villages while listening to Amon Amarth

I'm not surprised, I don't think that Christian women are your style.

As long as he remembers its "Rape the women, slaughter the cows" and not the other way around (/oldvikingjoke).

Its probably easier for me to list what music I *don't* like to listen to.... I'm pretty wide-ranging and seek the unusual.

I've somewhat noticed the same thing. At least when I'm listening to something aggressive, I've found myself going on a full scale rant attack on something that I don't even feel very strongly about.

As for genres, pretty much everything goes.

Preferred ones depend on the season quite a bit. In the summer I tend to listen mostly to house, break beat, pop-ish hip hop, j-pop etc. a bit lighter sound stuff. In the winter I listen to techno, trance, drum and bass, a bit heavier rock etc. A bit faster, fatter and heavier stuff. Guess my mood depends on the season quite a bit or at least on the amount of light. As at the moment daylight hours are about 19 and in the winter they're on the other hand about 5, which is really depressing. In the summer I'm running around like a duracell bunny though.

All year around favorites contain for example jazz, electro and classical.

I like J-pop thesedays. I was so absorbed in songs sung in English before, and i like that now too, but i became a big fan of j-pop as i grew older.

Japanese songs have melody and lyrics that move me.
i don't know why exactly, but that music let me feel even sadly most of the time.

Hmm I listen to Darkwave, Futurepop, Industrial, EBM, and genres alike. Of course there are Jpop songs which I like too. I especially like little melodic touches in songs and the strong lyrics.

Many of the songs that I listen to are in German, I thought I'd share that too.

Please elaborate. That sentence sounds like something I might say about my taste (as I can't come with a satisfying answer to the question "what kinds of music do you listen to?"). I'm constantly looking for people who I can share my musical interests with; unfortunately I hardly ever encounter anyone whom I have much more in common than a few of the big names. And almost noone has even heard of 99% of my favorite bands and albums (except for a friend or two whom I got interested in them). It sucks having almost noone to talk to about all the awesome music out there.

Ambient trance/regular trance is a personal favourite. Very nice when writing or making signatures

Other than that it's Industrial metal/ordinary metal. Some hard rock is also included.

Trance: Above & Beyond, Trancemaster Remixes, Cosmosis, Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection etc.

Hard Rock/Metal/Industrial Metal: In Flames, Arch Enemy, Machinae Supremacy, Dragonforce, Disturbed, AC/DC

Machinae Supremacy can also be counted as bit-pop as they include Commodore 64 and Amiga sounds/music in their tracks.

I enjoy a wide variety of music, and even open minded to others, though for the most part, I don't enjoy gospel or country type music

Uf, I'm a total groupie for old school British glam rock and punk rock, I'd give everything to live in the 70's there, really.

My second passion is metal, symphonic death and alternative to be exact, well some other too though, but not as much.

And then a little of j-rock, j-pop, mostly what I pick up from the animes.

All that's good and music. Hip Hop among the most listened to.

I listen to practically anything, but lately I've mostly been listening to symphonic/gothic metal, rock, techno, and J-pop.
