They were fighting factions opposed to the constructions of the Orbital Elevators. Some factions and armies as well as Middle Eastern countries were opposed to the construction of those. Which faction specifically they were fighting in that episode is not know though.

These are probably not AEU or Union backed though since they themselves are building Orbital Elevators and are sort of helping each other out with them to a certain extent. [The AEU for example seems to play an important financial role in the alliance, like one of the AEU Councilors said in S1.06. The Union and HRL cannot do colony development without their financial support]

I mean cold war and competition are still so but the three blocs have many similar interests, as far as energy is concerned anyways. Sort of like real life where the world relies so much on each other, and yet certain factions can be so cold towards a rival faction on certain issues.

He was a man, a Cyber-Newtype but still a flesh and bones human.

It's been a while since I watched the movie, but since his mask was fully enclosing his head, and had other functions as well, we could assume it was part of a pressured suit.

The successor to Gundam 00 is both its movie, Gundam 00: A wakening of the Trailblazer, and the OVA series Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, a six-episode OVA based on the novel, set in U.C..

No word on the SEED movie. It hasn't been announced that its been canceled yet, but nothing else has been said on them either.

Wasn't the plan to unite the world and prep humanity for Innovation...so the world wouldn't be divided when we ran into aliens? I don't seem to recall anything about avoiding war with aliens, just ending war among ourselves.

Anyways...in GvGN+, Kshatriya's beam rifle appears to come out of the hands (the "backshot" is definitely from the binders though). However, on my friend's 1/144, there is absolutely nowhere visible where the beam could possibly have come out of. There's the parts on the chest (used for CSa/ac) and the parts on the binders (backshot) but the foward beam rifle is definitely coming from the hands.

Did they screw it up, or does Kshatriya really have hand BRs?

Its both, really. Tieria said that divided, humanity could not progress into space, and frankly, it'd be a bad idea to be divided against hostile aliens (though that would unite the world pretty quickly, but CB beat them to the punch), or to bring a war against aliens who didn't mean them any harm.

Knowing humanity as is now, I doubt we'll unite when under attack by aliens. We'll always have people saying it was the other guy's fault.
Don't if any of you have seen stargate, where america goes out into the universe to 'explore' (read: pick a fight) and earth gets into a whole lot of trouble. Ofcourse the russians find out and ofcourse blame the americans for the shitstorms earth gets in (and who can blame them).
Again, I doubt we'll unite. Especially with the current reasons of war we're having.

Ultimately at this point its moot: humanity has already mostly united and likely will continue to do so in Gundam 00.

And to be fair, in Stargate SG-1, the aliens threw the first punch without provocation from the humans.

Fuel =/= power. I think what Nosferatu wants to know is how long can a U.C. era mobile suit can fly or maneuver in the air before it runs out of fuel.
