The OP and the ED set the harem up practically as a given. I'm actually happy about how little evidence there has been for it so far. Beyond some mild signs of interest from the girl at the place where Raul eats lunch, and potential jealousy from the former adventurer, things seem clearly focused with him and Fino, and I'd be happy to let things stay that way.

After a borderline-passable premier, this second episode was definitely several leaps up. The focus on the characters and setting rather than on fanservice definitely worked, too.
When Raul's friends declared that they were content to bide their time in order to fulfill achieve their dream, I couldn't help but feel both frustrated and impressed. It is one avenue to pursue, but that doesn't mean Raul's was necessarily the bad one-- and that was something I wanted someone to tell Raul. And then that Fino scene came along. Fino may be an idiot with a lot of cultural differences to surmount, but her earnest attitude is admirable. I don't know about you all, but I found myself rooting for her alongside Raul. On a different note, I guess we can see how the Demon Lord fell: human magitech (likely) overcame brute power XD |

Really nice music in this show too. Could do without the jiggling boobs, and harem bores me, but the music is wonderful.
Slice of life with some magic and slight action seems to be a really big motif this season. And great soundtracks. Don't forget that too. |

Not gonna lie, was pretty much hohum so far for me. Jokes are flat, I prefer my ecchi to be more subtle, but at least I sympathize with the main character where his dream can't be a reality anymore. Like for once I don't really care about the romance of the show (so far... one of those girls is potentially osananajimi after all), but am much more interested in how the MC gets back on his feet, or so to speak. Like right not he is merely just on his knees recovering from being a hikki, so I'm looking forward to him 'moving on' either by finding something else he has desire for, or better yet, have him become a hero some other way.
Which of course, unfortunately, is just a small fraction of the air time so far. Gotta have Fino's screen time after all, right?

Quality-wise it dropped off a little compared to episode 1 but I liked the content. Phino is lovely and quite the hardworker, Im obliged to root for her. And Raul faces an interesting dilemma: abandoning his dream to fit into the new society or keep pursing it and becoming NEET.
As for OP and ED material, the former is awful and the latter is ok. |

Better than the first episode since there was far too much fan service.
Fino was very cute in this episode plus her understanding of magical items and the way to communicate with customers was pretty funny to watch. Raul meeting All-A and the fact that she sees him as a rival in the hero business but cannot take the fact that he has a job. Nice end since Raul finds out that Fino has moved in next door to him. |

I was thinking they were probably really involved in something illegal or unethical or unsavory or all of the above and justifying it as being necessary to get by as they wait to become heroes again. [random theory]Maybe they're hunting down demons and selling them as slaves or something.[/random theory]
Or they could just be NEETs and sponging off someone.

It's really sad that this series which has a great story and character was animated by a cheap studio :/
From what I read on the manga and such, the series is really great. But I don't like how the anime studio is kind of low grade T.T |

Yeah, much as his friends might see it differently Raul's just doing what he has to do. Not like he can't change things up if by some radical event heroes are actually needed again. For now you have to wonder if his friends are going to end up crazy people living in the streets saying "We'll be heroes!"
The only way you can follow through with the wait and see approach is to be rich to begin with and be able to just do nothing in the meantime. It's fine not to give up on your dreams, but if the job literally does not exist anymore what can you do? Maybe wait for the country they are at to go to war or something. Not sure about the structure of this world, but without the demon lord as a threat maybe people will just find conflict between themselves. That would open up jobs again. Fino really is a fun character to watch in action. Give her props for really working on improving. Raul had to probably put in that much effort being so much in hero mode all the time. Sometimes you have to adapt to your situation. Certainly a waste that both of them really have excellent power, but have nothing they can use it for. At the very least they'll never need store security in that place .
