I probably shouldn't watch it more than the first ep.

The whole launching of the ?earth-engine?, I wished that the AEO would swipe in, blast the different pieces to junk and be done with it :x

That was widely foreshadowed. Remember Evangelion, how the only sane enough person to think that having a giant robot constantly plugged into the electricity network was a bit ineffective and build a nuclear-powered giant robot was hit by instantaneous failure because - apparently - the power source influences the behaviour of the mecha and makes it go on random rampages ?

See, mechas can be powered by electricity, solar energy, love, libido, memories, or manly spirit. Nuclear power is a big no no .

A solid first episode, though I felt that there was too much happening at once. I also didn't expect that there would be that many characters, so it was slightly overwhelming. Like many others have mentioned, my favourite scene in this ep has to be the expansion sequence. Very beautifully done.

Well the animation is not bad, but the whole gattai sequence remind me very much at Power Rangers...

I will watch it some more ep and decide.

Except for Gundam SEED, though that's the only example I can think of.

FYI this and Daimidaler aren't even the first libido-powered mechs - see Aquarion and the power of spiritual threesome orgasms.

Well personally I hope it stays closer to Star Driver and doesn't have any of those ridiculous Battle Orgasms. When it comes sexual themes I've often found that I prefer it to be on the subtler side of the scale than on the "brick in your face" side.

Like Haak said up above, Justice Gundam & Freedom Gundam from Gundam SEED pretty much go against that sentiment. Those two mechas are basically saying “We’re full of nuke, and we’re proud!” . Oh and don’t forget, almost every Mobile Suit from Gundam UC timeline use nuclear generator inside.

Of course they do. I don't know why I thought otherwise.

off to a good start already lol
Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

Honestly, I have no idea what the hell was going on throughout this episode, but was pretty. Oddly enough I'm still intrigued to see where the show will go from here. I liked some of E7 vibes I'm getting too.

Still there was way too much fantasy techobabble thrown at you to make much heads or tails out of anything though. It atleast launch sequence is nice (and really REALLY long), too bad it's pretty obvious that going to be our designated stock footage.

A super robot pilot named Daiichi? Who lost his dad at a young age? A child taking the place of a father as captain?

Where have I heard that before?

Daiichi dad is named Taiyo meaning the sun. Daiichi is obvious enough means earth or the land.

That was very confusing. There was barely no exposition in this episode. It's way too soon to judge this show, but I'm having this dreadful feeling it's just going to be another Bones original that is only saved by its animation (like most of their works these past few years, sadly). Hope I'm wrong. Even in the worst case scenario, I'll still get some good mecha porn out of this, so there's that at least.

Um, they haven't told why Hana and Teppei were taken away during the flashback.

Sure that Teppei Arashi has some alien origins and thus become the pilot of the Earth Engine, but what about Hana Mutou?

Please don't remind me of that, I'm still pissed for how they treated my Zessica.

Just think about the poor sap that has to put everything back in order everytime he deploys or the budget they must be burning through just for that entrance.

Loved the episode I knew it felt familiar so this is a mix of Star Driver and E7 instant must watch.

Just hope E7 Ao has a second season, he needs to get his harem back damn it.

P.S. Am I the only one who wants a gif. of that girl bouncing during the robots entrance, anyone else agree?

Well, for a first episode, that certainly had a high degree of fabulous-ness and escalated rather quickly. Half expected the robot, when it was finally all together, would have a more dashing hat, though.

Will give this three episodes.

Jesus, dat animation... BONES is insane.

Anyway, I was quite impressed. I thought the MC would be Haruto 2.0 but he's actually a lot better than I expected. Will continue watching, lots of potential here. I'm glad to see in the preview that the MC actually does get his "butt kicked", and he won't just be a master of this right off the bat.

Definitely can see hints of Star Driver/Utena in this show.

Animation was sweet, that transformation sequence also marvelous, but the story ... ugh. It's like a Gundam UC x Star Driver hybrid. It needed to be more Star Driver and less daddy issues. Dropped.

Because Star Driver wasn't partly about daddy issues?
