Anime Like Bakemonogatari

Just last week I finished watching Bakemonogatari and it was amazing. Definitely on my top 5 of all time. I read some other reviews which focused heavily on the "romance" aspect, but that wasn't the main theme that drove it home for me. It was definitely the emphasis on character development and the sardonic verbal sparring that I enjoyed. And of course the character of Araragi as a bodhisattva that is willing to sacrifice himself for others even to the point of fighting karma itself (episode 10) was quite original. If anything, there wasn't a single character I didn't like. Also, the sexual innuendo was just enough to be nostalgic as opposed to being perverse and childish.

Please recommend similar anime!!!

What I think is somewhat similar and I've seen (and liked):

Lunar Legend Tsukihime
Kara no Kyoukai - The Garden of Sinners
Natsume Yuujinchou
Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou
Windy Tales
Somedays Dreamers
Niea Under 7
FLCL
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (Only liked the first 6 ep)

currently watching XXXHOLiC because I've heard it's similar.

What was recommended to me to watch but disliked:

Arakawa Under the Bridge

What I'm about to watch that I've been told is similar:

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
Spice and Wolf
ef - a tale of memories
Dance In The Vampire Bund
Durarara!!
Mind Game

I recommend Katanagatari. Same writer.

There's also Tatami Galaxy.

Spice and Wolf is what you're looking for! I has just enough romance, similar main characters and it's heavy on the dialogue.

Seconding Katanagatari and Spice and Wolf. Katanagatari was made by the same writer, and in my opinion it's one of the best anime of 2010.

Yo 2nd Katanagatari and Spice and Wolf

May want to check out Toradora, only problem I think here is the main female is either hit or miss but this is a great romance none the less.

Ah, thank you all! I will definitely check out Katanagatari, Spice and Wolf and Tatami Galaxy.

I'm not so sure on Toradora though Bontun...I read the description of the show and it may be too much romance for me! lol

Also, if you like Spice and Wolf you should also watch Crest of the stars and it's sequels.
