Problem is it's been known that .45 SMG is overkill and murderously hefty in real life, hence they don't fire supersonic rounds anymore.

Choices always between small rounds going fast and big rounds going slow, custom ammo load also work like this.

Close to mid range weapon as most SMG are supposed to be. It works as designed so well enough.

Then push up the round to .72?

The .45 SMG is overkill in a civilian setting. Heck just having a regular handgun is overkill. But in military set, sometimes you want something with a lot of stopping power and capable of short range combat without being excessively cumbersome. So that's why I opted for a .45 approach. Doesn't need to be lethal but it has to drop heavy shots.

45 ACP is man puncher, it is also subsonic by default.

Erm... not sure but the stats I see are 2.3kg empty. Add in mag box and 30 15g .45 ACP rounds.

roughly 3kg? fully loaded. scale up to IS standards.

It is subsonic. Though it feels more trans-sonic because it's practically there at 285m/s muzzle velocity. Though the speed may drop dramatically as it leaves the muzzle.
