If anyone here want me to add something in, say so and I'll at least consider it. I'm more than willing to throw things in to fill up the plot, I've got next to nothing planned after Daihaseisai (ie, past the next 3-4 chapters), just some minor character developments until (MAJOR SPOILER INCOMING)

Spoiler for possible way of ending the fic:

I end the fic before Touma goes to UK (post Vol16), going stable with one girl and his memory loss revealed.

It may or may not end with a 'sequel hook' that includes how the girl would wait for him until he returns from UK/WW3 and she has faith he will come back to her.

I'm current just planning a AU end where Touma gets his girl, and she becomes his emotional support even if she cannot be on the front lines with him. 'Sickeningly sweet romance scenes every time they meet face to face' kind of good end.

I'm voting for the early release. Also I approve of that spoiler as the ending, as long as the romance is believable and developed a while before he goes off to war, it would be weird for a girl he just started dating to be cool waiting for him to go off to fight in a war. Especially since he basically gets kidnapped into going with no prior warning.

For the Daihaseisai... Well, I have some ideas.

1. Girl in a Dress hears about Touma from Kakine -- who is impressed by 'the guy who punched out Number One' and gloats that Accelerator might be an easier target that he first thought. Naturally she gets curious and SCHOOL has nothing to do for the day, so she might as well want to see Imagine Breaker in action, perhaps even test Measure Heart on him and see how it affects him.

2. Gunha/Touma back-to-back badassery versus some extremist Skill-Outs not under Komaba's group planning a bombing -- in the days after Walking Porn gets pwnt.

3. Aogami trying to be subtle and flirt with Misaki and her mooks, which he fails horribly at. Bonus point if Touma drags him away and apologizes to Misaki, promising to make it up to her. Cue Mikoto seeing that and wanting Touma to 'make it up to her' as well. Saten might help her out so such a situation would occur, and Touma would go on a double-date with the Tokiwadai Level 5's with much crack. Could be a trigger for an event scene.

4. Loli Kihara getting a peek at the test results from Gunha vs. Touma, and she definitely wants to see Touma in action herself. Could probably be intertwined with Girl in a Dress' own little time-killing interest -- maybe a chapter dedicated to people stalking Touma, wanting to see his power. In the end, she goes back into her Accelerator fixation (and getting chased by Kihara-kun Junior...).

5. Touma ends up being misfortunate and stumbles into Pre-BroShiage ITEM. Frennndaaaa~

6. Kakine goes shopping for a refrigerator for SCHOOL's main hideout. Just when he finds the perfect low-budget one, Mikoto lets out a city-wide spark (Misaki-induced, from the double-date), killing the fridge. He is not pleased.

(Doit do it doit doit doit doit doit doit doi doit doit doit doit doit)

7. Accelerator and Last Order cameo since they were wandering around.

And please, even as a ToumaxMikoto shipper, don't waste this story by going with that pairing. It would be far too predictable and that pairing is over-the-fuck-done. I'm not rooting for Misaki, Saten or any other contenders (Kumokawa?) for Touma's heart in particular. As long as the love is believable and doesn't seemed forced. It could be nice if we see Mikoto's development over accepting that she's not for Touma, and ultimately maturing as a character.

... I promised to take a look and consider it. And I did.

I've came to the conclusion most of the ideas are tainted with crack (seriously? Measure Heart and Misaki? ) and the majority of them will kill my brain if I try to write something like that

Having said that, I'll be borrowing your 3rd suggestion. I think I can adapt it into later chapters... Just don't expect it to show up until the 'Punishment Game' arc, and that might take a few months.

As for the final pairing... well, let's just see what other character development I've got planned right now. My opinion was out of all the girls in canon going for Touma, Mikoto had the highest chance of success since she lives in the same city as him, see him more often and have more 'romance flags' with him compared to Index who's also in the same city (Index only have 'just friends flags' with Touma IMO).

With other contenders/options like Misaki and Saten, I'd say Mikoto's chances here have dropped a lot. Not impossible, but no longer ahead.

PS: While I say Mikoto was the most likely to get Touma, that does NOT mean I prefer her to be the one that ends up with Touma. I support Kaori+Touma, Hyouka+Touma (not EVER going to happen, but if she's not IB instant-killable I'd be behind that all the way), or Itsuwa+Touma.

Mikoto+Touma just gives me a [*shrug* that works, but I don't like/hate it] response.

Part A will be addressed in the next 2-3 chapters. Tell me how well I do after they're up.

Part B, however, might take a while longer. The issues you've addressed will play a part in Aleister's plans, and why he allows Kumokawa's plan to go ahead. Eventually it will be revealed in the fic, but with what I have right now that won't be any time soon.

Since we're on this topic, have there ever been a situation where the 2nd girl gets the guy? As far as my knowledge of Animes is concern, either it's the First Girl or Bust. And since Index is quite unlikely to 'win', I say it's a bust.

(And yes you can technically argue that Mikoto came first before Index, but you know what I mean...)

There are very little exceptions, like shuffle! but lets not go there since I don't like how it turned out >.>. Another one is True Tears, but it's debatable who's the main girl in that story. And of course- the recent case with OrenoImo with Kuroneko but we all know how that turned out.

shuffle anime is a vn adaptation so it's up to the studio on how they will end it (even though it's super unexpected <.< Primula)

As for the first girl to win isn't that getting tiring. It's a super used up idea that it might still be fun if it's been played well but new ideas for an ideas for an ending is much better. Specially that we are talking about Touma. To him it's Index above then the other girls are all the same. That kind of guy he is.

Yeah they've got guts, I'll give them that... But I still don't like the ending >.>

The only things I took away from watching Shuffle! is my first experience with a Yandere (Changed my whole world view ) and that the Opening song is great.

Yeah, but like Flere I don't think Index would be a romance interest. It's sort of like how Last Order is a daughter to Accelerator, Index feels like family. This belief of mine is further reinforced when I watched the Mikoto Route on the PSP game (yeah yeah it's not the most solid of argument >.>). So with Index out, I predict the ending would be a bust.

But suddenly, there's a paradigm shift! And we have Kuroneko... This would only work if Index is confirm to be not a romance interest.

Still I'm not sure yet if it will end with Mikoto but honestly I'm tired of her and her over popularity with lots of fic about MikotoxTouma.
Though the story is not yet finished I will wait on how things will workout.

As for a problem.... Touma become popular thanks to his test and his troubles with the tokiwadai level 5. How can he sneak up in the battle of middle schools in the time when his stopping Oriana? You skipped that part and onto the day before he goes to Italy. Well that part wasn't really important but I can't imagine him sneaking there and going out alive with Mikoto and Misaki participating plus Seiri getting injured. I imagined that Misaki might discover something but its been skipped.

With more details on such part about that I want to read the next part specially I want to know will Sieiri and Aogami do. I bet the others will also do something and I can't see Aogami not doing something in front of an all girls middle school fight.

To little index even though she supposedly around him almost all the time. To be honest I just realized that Index isn't with Touma at all in your fic even though she usually is with him. Or maybe because she is not important to the plot that she is not around even though in the book they are always together. Just like Accelerator and Last Order.

And I will agree that Index isn't the type for romance with Touma. Maybe the before memory erase status of Touma but after that one. She stays with a family type of person for Touma. An important girl which he doesn't want to see cry. Just like how Accelerator tread Last Order. To both of them the loli's is their life line. In Touma's case. His only connection from the past and the first person to appear in front of him and also the first person to say she loves him and the first person that cried when he doesn't remember anything about her. Thus Kamijou Touma LIED for her sake. So she won't cry anymore.
