Yes, I was quite intrigued by Shamisen, the talking cat. Book 2 of the novel series, which deals with the filming of the school festival movie, would elaborate more.

Actually, I feel that KyoAni kept some of these small details to be featured in the next series, such as the Yuki & Haruhi doing exercises in the opening song, the tanabata (the bamboo) in the SoS-dan club room, and of course the talking cat.

oh, i didnt notice the tanabata in the club room! If they went that far to include it in a scence, lets hope they'll give us more episodes to explain their actions!
About the cat, I knew most of you have read the novel summary/timeline in the "All about Haruhi" topic, but I'll just paste some lines here for those who havent:

I second those who notice that Yuki somehow *wants* Kyon. Her lines are subtle yet very sweet ("I won't let them"- super-cool!)

yeah i was wondering too, are these scenes in the later novels? wonder if putting them in the opening suggests that we'll get another series. guess that depends on the usual factors.

Episode 7, "Mysterique Sign". She's the green-haired girl who claims to be the computer club president's girlfriend.

Also, she's in all the OP animations (except for Mikuru-run's).

I'm also very intrigued by Kimidori-san. My guess, from her mannerisms and speech, is that she's another interface like Nagato and Asakura. Same for Shamisen.

Ah thanks dkellis, I completely forgot about her. Hmm, I don't even recall seeing her in the op sequence, and to date it's the only series where I let the op run its full course each time, as opposed to skipping forward.
