Very interesting episode. Rudy truly does grow on you overtime. Golden Retriever x3
Still Raynesia imploring the adventurers to help defend Eastal will surely benefit both sides. It will draw the relationship between the Landers and Adventurers much closer through Raynesia acting as an intimediary, while encouraging trade and economic growth. Anyways. Time to raid.

Not much happens in this episode except for a lot of diplomacy. That's fine with me, but it might disappoint the viewers looking for more in the way of action.
Crusty and Lenessia make a cute couple. He was totally nonplussed when she made her announcement, and it looked like he found himself really attracted to her as opposed to just courting her for political reasons. I also don't have to keep reminding myself that she's an adult the way I have to do with Akatsuki. Whenever I watch the ED I keep waiting for Shiroe to pat her on the head at the end in that paternalistic way that male anime characters often use even with females they are in love with. Her look of selfless devotion in that scene always seems a bit creepy to me, too.

Hmm the concept of respect and freedom really does resonate within the episode. While the diplomacy for me seemed a lot more enticing to watch than the Scrub Horizon skirmishes. I dunno, I think its just a preference seeing such themes incorporated into a series such as this that makes it unique.
Also it looks like Krusty kidnapped our favorite princess in the last scene. ROTFL XDD Spoiler for Kidnapped!:

Nothing much happen in this episode. Could have been better if they have better quality animation so that they have given it more impact.
It will probably come out as Shiroe's observation of the situation in the next ep, but Lenessia's intervention was something they couldn't have hoped for in a thousand years - truly a heaven sent opportunity. Having her go rally the adventurers in Akiba would accomplish something that the members of the Round Table might not have been able to pull off by themselves. As Krusty said to Lenessia, adventurers are free to accept or reject this endeavour, so in the end, the Round Table might only be able to raise their own guilds plus say a quarter of the remaining adventurers. By having Lenessia do this, you have a Princess asking/entreating you for help, not even the most hardened/embittered fighter will find it easy to ignore her especially since it resembles so much as a special in-game event. Thus, Krusty + Shiroe will milk Lenessia for all she is worth. Cue what you see in every episode's OP.

I have to say, kudos to Lenessia for standing up and take control of this situation even though she's nervous when talking to the lords.
On the other hand, Minori's plan work for a small group of goblins. Yet I'm worried if her strategy apply on a large scale. Anyways, looking forward for next week! PS: Seems that Rudy is a big fan of Lina Inverse from Slayers... |

Seems like things are getting interesting.
The goblins are making their move, but so are the humans. The only problem so far are their vast numbers. Not only that but also a whole cloud of mistrust looming over that castle. The NPCs are still feeling reserved towards the adventurers help. I really dislike the whole politics thing in this anime. The princess took a stand, didn't see that coming, but it was cool. Hope the fight parts will be shown soon..

Darn! so awesome!!! this anime/story is so darn based that I would gave it a 10 but the animation is really hurting it. Darn Satellite and there crappy animation. I would love it more if the quality of animation isn't darn shit.
Awesome princess and awesome noob team!!! The politics in the castle with each group trying to find out advantage over the other. Next week will be another based episode. darn animation

Contrasts with the Book
Quote:
I started with the Anime but waiting a week for info just didn't appeal to me so I got started on the books and to my horror the books are orders of magnitude better than the anime! Crusty should have run off with Renessia through the balcony window like in the book; I really wanted to see that! And where was the elf Maid Elisa with the knife scene? |

I'm hoping for future 2nd season announcement, or the 8th novel starting schedule.

The meeting was lot less epic than it should have been (especially Raynesias speech).
Also left out the best scene from the novels about the meeting. Still a good episode though (and they might salvage it a bit in the next one, if there is any flashbacks for what happened). |

Dunno, the visuals add a lot of cues that didn't come across as sharply in the novel. Mitchikata's Renegade Interrupt for example came across a ton more powerful here than in the novel. The visual of seeing the table crumble under his fist really emphasizes his rage.

Cheers for an episode filled with tense negociation, i loled when we saw Michitaka making the pulling glass gesture.
Reynessia's scene was well done, i hope they will be able to do a good job for the incoming big battle. |
