Damn, even long after, May'n still does a full sweep.

This is a ranking for favorite Macross songs from the entire franchise based on a poll conducted on 13,000 individuals.
May'n pretty much dominates. 1. Diamond Crevasse 2. Northern Cross 3. Don't be Late 4. Universal Bunny 5. Obelisk 6. Infinity 7. Yousei/Fairy 8. Forbidden Elixir 9. What 'bout my star Mayn's version (a surprising entry, really) 10. Lion (duet) Respectively, Do you Remember Love ended in 13th place, Totsugeki Love Heart was 14th place and Triangular 16th place. Ranka's Seikan Hikou was at 24th place. - Tak

While part of the May'n/Frontier dominance in the poll is almost certainly due to the tendency of such polls to emphasize newness, having watched almost all of the Macross saga in one gargantuan marathon a few years ago, it struck me that while music was always a very important part of the series, the later series became dominated by it. Aside from Zero, the singing productions in each story became larger and larger, with a lot more variety than just running "Watashi no Kare wa Pilot "every other episode. Frontier alone has almost as many nominations as the sum of the other series combined.

Frontier combined elements of new and old. Certain songs returned from the old series. Others are almost remakes of the old songs, for instance, Aimo is similar to Zero's theme; Diamond Crevasse is comparable to DYRL in terms of lyrics and music. But still, there is enough fresh music to work with. Without playing the songs side by side, no one would ever notice they are simply rehashes of the past. So basically, people enjoy them more being oblivious to the past franchise.

Mmm I love Megumi live... and I love the music live too. I'll vote for Ranka for the stupidest reasons: I prefer Megumi with her current short hairstyle (the one sided pony was not my thing, sorry, Yot ) and I love Ranka's outfit.
Boots are awesome, true.

For me, Megumi's legs will ALWAYS win out, over ANY opponent.

The problem is that she simply stands there with small motions throughout the whole face paced, action-filled song. This ruins the deliverance. Unlike May'n who actually performs with dance movements and all, Nakajima doesn't. That being said, the performance then becomes boring and I am drawn to Ranka's section, which at least has dance movements to keep me occupied. I do understand that she performs dance movements in the guitar solo but nonetheless, that is more than halfway through the song. A bit more performance in the dancing section or even hand motions would help this performance. Thus, Ranka is my winner; because her performance has more pull just for the concert and not the background battle. You are entitled to your own opinion of this. Also, in truth, I prefer May'n's performances over Sheryl's. Perhaps it is because they are more realistic and homemade as opposed to the latter (which is composed mostly of holographic features). It is all a matter of opinion and preference, I guess.

I can honestly say that, if I ever saw a live performance anywhere near Sheryl's levels, I'd be able to die a happy man, even if everything else in my life turned to ashes. Honest to God.
