Besides, the general idea is that he's around Tabane's age (24-ish) so he's not looking like an old man yet, face wise.

In my fanon, Iori is the one that made the White Knight, Tabane made the Core 001. Four years before that, they made the first Quantum computer (that become basis for the core) and advanced protective suit (that become basis for the frame).

He's the only one scientist Tabane consider worth attention, she declared him as her rival with a hint of childhood romance and small streak of sexual tension during teenhood. Until now, Iori can't forget her, and most of the time living underground mostly surviving using artificial sunlight :|

lol, Iori made the brains... Croixas made the heart. Similar characters in idea but how they approach the niche is diverted in the fact that Iori and his works are acknowledged while Croixas was shunned and still continues to strive for recognition from that one person(who's roughly 10 years younger than him).

They are allowed on a capacity of deterrents. Basically standby until someone is dumb enough to launch an offensive with IS, while at the same time act as a possible offensive IS force as well.

Attempting to explain why the result of super-soldier project is female....Wouldn't it be easier for researcher if the uber-soldier are males when in come to fighting a war, considering that male generally have more muscle than female (not being a sexist here... this is more of a biology stuff)....

And since Laura are "created" before IS is introduced so.... you can't really put "IS pilot" as excuse.....

Probably explain why Madoka out-performed Cecilia in spite of the latter having better affinity towards BT(bits) technology(secondary reason though)

Desire human relationship

Female naturally has better dexterity and stuff, hence they make better pilot in vein of much better reflex and response. Male pilots, 90% of the time (Ichika being anomaly) has low sync level and thus has wider time lag, but their body develops better. (useful outside I.S.)

This is my explanation for the advantage of female pilot.

Chifuyu and Iori then explained regarding their relationship, they are what Childhood friend, for no less than fourteen year even. Ichika and Madoka also close to him, though not as close as Chifuyu are.

Maya nodded in understanding, as if she expects more.

“So, how was the progress?”

“We managed to raise the computational output by 10%, but everyone has been pressed ever since Gospel incident, so we decided to postpone it for three days, to let everyone get a clearer mind and vitality. Like two of us for example” Iori replied, further conversation is unnecessary since it’ll bring unnecessary attention. “Though I wonder, it’s unusual of you to wander around during vacation”

“Hmm, I wonder about that too” Maya noted herself, Chifuyu left out a little sigh.

“My place has been invaded” she said “The girls, they’re gathering in my house, all five of them, and Dunois”

“Personal I.S. users?” Maya raised her eyebrow “Enough to start a war”

“… Josh, contact your president and your boss, its DEFCON 2” Iori pointed.

“… Two of you learn to joke eh. But that’s not funny” Chifuyu huffed.

“What else can I say? From your story, change of dynamic might result in a war or something” Iori has a point, considering each and every I.S. is equivalent to Tactical Nuclear Weapon, eight of them, gathering in single house, operated by hormone-addled teenagers, is asking for trouble.

He trusts Ichika and Madoka since Iori knew them personally, the other six? He didn’t want to bet anything (even regarding the other male pilot, Charles Dunois).

Maya seems to have similar opinion, either way.

"Wouldn't Orimura-sensei be bothered by it? If your little brother has a girlfriend."

"You're kinda right......"

The beer was just finished, so Chifuyu asked for another cup from the owner.

After she finished her fourth in a shot, Chifuyu continued and said,

"Last month, did something happen at the sea-side school?"

"Huhh, yeah, concerning that I still remember that......many things happened."

Including Gosplel, those four knew about that, but Iori think there’s something else.

This was the first time that she had seen her so hesitant, so what could be the reason? She was interested to the maximum.

"I said to those five girls..."

"Yes."

"I said 'I won't let you have Ichika'."

Maya, who had been surprised, asked back, since it was rare that Chifuyu would be embarrassed and have much to say. It was probably because she was drinking.

On the other hand, Josh spurted his drink, and quickly apologized to the owner repeatedly.

"It's not......like that......no, didn't I say before that I don't have special feelings towards that guy, but how can I say it......a little brother should belong to his older sister, right?"

“Pardon me to interfere but… is it really okay for me to hear this?” Josh groaned, not that he’s not interested, but being an outsider, he felt that he’s out of place and doesn’t have any rights to know.

“Not like urgent class S secret or anything” Chifuyu waved, not like Josh doesn’t know anything either, because he had seen everything during Gospel Incident, or the festival. He’s not much of a stranger anymore, frequent meeting and all.

(Besides, Josh was closer to Chifuyu than he remember. Iori knew, Tabane knew, Chifuyu knew.)

Chifuyu also knew she shouldn’t rush things; it’s either alcohol, or the cumulative stress not being able to rest properly, but she was driven to an edge. She wanted him to remember.

Maya could understand Chifuyu being lack to Iori, but really, why she did the same with Josh? Chifuyu said something along the line of ‘I.S. related job’ before, roughly since the testing phase of I.S. Virtual Reality Simulator. Then, the brand new ‘male compatible’ unit that is Armored Stratos. Later, Over-Technology Tactical Fighter, first military vehicle built using I.S.-derived technology.

Even then, that means roughly four or five month timeframe.

To Maya’s speculation, it’s either Chifuyu knew him longer than Chifuyu said, or interested with in non-platonic way. Maya shrugged at the latter thought, but really, gossip surrounding her is either: A. Chifuyu is frigid; B. Chifuyu is secretly lesbian; or C. Chifuyu has brother complex.

As far as Maya knew Chifuyu for years, only option C is even remotely possible. She even say once that she has no time for dating or whatever, what she said before can be used to support this notion or against it. But that could be because Ichika and Madoka is her only family as of now.

Hell, she might even use the crazy issue about Josh' striking physical resemblance with Ichika. But that's that, she really don't want to assume things this way.

"That......Orimura-sensei, towards Orimura-kun——Aah, how complicated——towards Ichika-kun going out with a girl, are you for or against it?"

"Of course I would be in favor of it. That guy could learn more about different things——not only about managing with people, but also especially towards girls. Maybe… should I say that I'm scared to see him seduced by another girl? That guy really doesn't have an eye for girls."

Josh and Iori look at each other, Iori nodded in response as if he understood what Chifuyu said.

Hours passed and random chatter, and loads upon loads of liquor, nobody can think 100% straight anymore.

Chifuyu is the strongest drinker amongst those four, but still affected a little.

Iori is a bit solemn, but otherwise, Like Chifuyu he’s less screwed by alcohol.

On the other hand, Maya and Josh already in the verge of being knocked out.

“… I assume you actually want to spend all night here?”

“Normally yes, but she already chug more than whole night worth of usual dosage, for whatever reason… every time festival is mentioned, what is her problem again?”

“I don’t know for sure, perhaps it’s where she’s torn up by the crowd when I met her, then mistaken for a child”

Quite a punch to Maya’s pride, Chifuyu noted silently. No wonder Maya is embarrassed. Besides, Maya also shown some attraction to Iori. Iori might look like an old man due to his dimple and white hair, but actually, he’s very handsome by normal standard.

“Now what?” they mumbled at the same time, and then decided to get into nearest shelter: Kirishima corporation.

Or at least, that’s what they intended.

Before they knew, Iori is stuffed into a bath tub of a hotel as the substance finally giving a punch to his logic circuit, with Maya in the same room, on the floor, giggling like a school girl and saying things typically mentioned in school-themed porn movies.

It was supposed to be Chifuyu and Maya’s room, not him.

And Josh realized it when he walked out of the bathroom after a good, head clearing hot shower. Chifuyu is staring at him.

“Jesus, this is seriously nuts” he put his palm to his forehead. He might have under average alcohol tolerance, but he recover fast, very fast, especially if he managed to get disulfiram and shower. And now, he’s perfectly sober if not for the slight headache. “I’ll get Mr. Kirisaki”

His word is greeted by silence as Chifuyu’s gaze set on the city from the large window.

“Do you have any parents?”

It’s a sudden question, but Josh already gave some hint anyway, so he can’t blame her.

“Passed away… roughly the same time I graduated form the Academy” Air Force Academy, to be specific, but of Course Chifuyu knew it.

Both of them stood on the balcony, feeling the summer night breeze touching their skin.

“Ichika and Madoka doesn’t even remember them, I always wonder whether they feel lucky or unlucky. I am the closest thing for a mother figure for them”

“They’re lucky they have you to depend on” he said honestly, with a charming smile even.

“In the past, they have another” her gaze is somber, yet sharply strike into Josh’s own field of vision “He lost himself when he tried to fix his mistake”

Josh formed a pair of hypothesis in the process, it’s either another brother, or someone could be considered as such, Josh can see that this person is precious to the Orimuras. Chifuyu’s own expression already gave him a picture, than the absence of this person is one of the major factor of creation of her current self.

“… I was found in Salt Lake City by O’Brien family as homeless, amnesiac teen, and subsequently adopted. The chaotic situation following White Knight incident, they said, means they’re unable to have my origin tracked”

“It’s a lie they fabricated, as they stated in their letter, meant for me in case they never able to gather enough courage. They always yearn for a child, biological complications prevent that. Now that they got me, they’re afraid of losing me”

“Do you feel angry?”

“I should” he stated matter of factly “I should, but I didn’t. I am a blank sheet of paper, what left from my past are unrecognizable scribbles, at least, not obvious enough to spot on. My past, I never remember them. I am Joshua O’Brien, 24 years by official reckoning, a test pilot of US Air Force”

Chifuyu turn her head aside, hiding her obviously hurting expression. Is it really wrong not letting the past go?

Does everyone really have to forget painful memories, and ditching the happy old days along with it?

“However, that doesn’t mean I never thought about my past… I was afraid that sometimes later I will lose myself again, whether I got my memories or lost what I have now. At the same time, I want to know, I deserve to know.”

“I always feel that there are precious people out there, whose existence I forgot. Sometimes, I fantasized that I can meet them again but…”

Their eyes met each other, no words we’re said, they’re both miserable, hiding it under their mask.

“Do you trust me?”

But now, it’s crystal clear, compassion, a silent agreement between them is settled. Josh himself wonder what exactly she meant by, but he felt no reason not to trust her.

“I am”

The curtain is dropped, however the window is left open allowing the wind to hum in tune to the silhouettes dancing in passion. Lips met and hands intertwined, it was sacred and beautiful, but at the same time sinful and deranged.

Occasionally, playful banter is done. However, not a single word is said.

At least for tonight, they want to remember the short moment of intimacy and happiness…

not really. Well maybe he would be stupid. Despite the resemblance. Whenever I look at Charlotte and then at Charles, there is a striking difference that compels me to think. "Nope, not the same person."

For the Charlotte Daydream arc Ichika goes to a school in France for a cooking scholarship. He becomes fast friends with Charles, who's isolated in school....then meets Charlotte at the mall and helps her cook dinner for her and her mom.

At no point does he think they're the same:/

The manga version is slightly believable actually, male Charles is noticeably more masculine, less a reverse drag and more of a true pretty boy. Besides, there's also issue with Ichika's 'fuse'. Stupid yes, acceptable it is.

So assuming Charlotte CAN make herself look more masculine, Ichika might assume they''re related, but not the same person.
