Thanks, LyricalAura, for the translation!
Really? I assumed it would contain the previous game because the jacket image only has the version number ('20110813 Ver.') and not the name of the instalment ('第一夜'). With Higurashi and Umineko, each release is considered an 'updated version' of the same game.

No there isn't, unless you pirated it All of Higanbana's music is original.
No zts this time. Much to my disappointment there's no -45 either. About half of the music is dai, then there's a few contributions by Morrigan, Luck Ganriki and Preholder, then a track each from SB Yune and M.Zakky. Quote:

For some examples: Youtube's got a track called 葬り去る花 that's a reused Higurashi track. Here's the actual track on Nicovideo: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm15308764 陽炎 is a 49 second track on Youtube, whereas it's actually supposed to sound like this: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm15309344 学校案内人 is wrong as well. Supposed to be this - http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm15303544 Saw a track that uses bell chimes mentioned in one of the reviews floating around, and it's this one. The timestamps on the Nico uploads say they were uploaded before this mysterious rip, so I'm pretty sure the uploader has an actual copy of the game. |

Urgh
Started reading it (Like hell I'll wait like 2 weeks for my package to arrive) and then an umineko track popped out.... When the text was something like this: 学校には大勢の生徒がいて、女子だってその半分を占める。 Something like Eva-Beatrice theme or whatever started playing... (Edit: 月うさぎの舞踏 started playing, It's the Siestas theme) Stopped it right away...

丑ノ刻参リ and 葬リ去る花 are my favorite tracks so far. :3
I hope Higanbana is something I can enjoy... but so far, I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to. I like the sound of the format of the stories and how different it is from Higurashi and Umineko... I also kind of like the sound of it being shorter. I'm not sure if I'll enjoy the actual story and characters though... which is what it basically all comes down to, if it's as dark and disturbing as I read it is then that might interfere with it... I've tried reading the manga and didn't find myself hooked or anything, I'm kind of hoping that changes. If not then I'll probably be satisfied reading spoilers and summaries about it...

For those who care, I found out and/or determined the names of the characters who are provided with sprites.
Spoiler for Images 1:
Spoiler for Images 2:
Oh, and there are two other characters whose sprites were never released prior to the game's release: Spoiler for Other characters:
I also managed to extract the sprites of the game. However, unlike Higurashi and Umineko's sprites, each sprite is separated into two files: one for their heads and expressions, and the other for their stationary bodies.

The game is also on PaletWeb if you want to order it. That's where I ordered it, though I'm having some trouble with payment at the moment.
From what I can tell, the game is interesting. A lot of the screens and effects are horrifying (not to mention the new ahaha.wav), I look forward to this being translated. The music is pretty good too, though not quite Umineko's caliber. |
