Something that occurred to me the other day: in the simulation that they run in Moon, it's shown that the second time around evolution happens much faster, in the order of centuries. Terra could be only some thousand years after Moon.

I wish they can at least roughly explain how the Theory affect lives of the characters. I get the feeling that most or everything Kotarou did in Terra is basically a set of pattern of fate that Moon-Kagari set up beforehand. If this is indeed the case, you gonna bet that Moon-Kagari is grinning at the end with "Just as Planned!" expression

But then again we probably wouldn't understand, it's as if Romeo gave an example already in Moon what would happen if normal humans like us trying to decipher the Theory of Life. So..

Yup. Kotarou's fate/role is still not over yet. He will act as the catalyst for space exploration based on how humanity plays out and whether it thinks about possibilities/good memories. To quote from the VN:

Kotarou: Why...? I dunno why. You guys think of a reason. That's humanity's job.

Also, to pose questions of my own, at the end of Terra when the girls ask summoned-Kotarou what name he wants to be called by, what is the significance of him replying with "Bond" (his pseudonym), saying that he has an attachment to it? And, even though it's portrayed as a joke, what is the significance of him relinquishing it for "Pochi" (lol)? Or is there any significance at all to my two questions?

Well, what I thought at first Terra-Kotarou is not really the same with the accumulated version of him in Moon. Hence, I thought the non-choice option is affected by something like the former Kotarou telling Terra-Koutarou what choices he should make.

Parf ot the reason why I think this way is because he is suddenly voiced (note that some flashbacks scene in the other routes has Kotarou voiced too), and the fact that the game suddenly uses AVG-style of text box instead of ADV (AVG = Full Screen Text Box, while ADV = bottom Text Box style.). Some games use this change of style to AVG whenever they tried to tell other person's perspective.

After all, it was his feelings for Moon-Kagari as contained in that "footnote" that made the success of the Theory of Life possible in the first place, and it's suggested that the reason the tree grew 300 metres in five years is because it was trying to reach the moon...

I have this feeling that this footnote made the end of terra route possible for two reasons:
- Giving Kotarou affections to Kagari
- Stopping Kagari's song at the end because Kotarou manages to find her with sheer willpower of love even after all those rewrites because of that "Let's meet again" footnote

Yeah, he uses "Suzuki Bond" later on, too.
It's written with the characters for "mediocre person" IIRC, but I think the English meaning of the word "Bond" is also intended, at least at the end of Terra.

So it's both a silly reference AND something poignant at the same time.

Hmmm I see. Well, I only posed the question because I wanted to see what other people thought. My thoughts were along the lines of Kotarou, as he was trying to save humanity, was also losing his own humanity. And no, I don't mean the fact that he kept rewriting himself (though yes, that's a form of losing humanity). I'm talking about betrayal, a highly unusual determination that only comes about due to unusual circumstances, and a "this end justifies the means" attitude. So, he doesn't exactly resonate with the identity of "Kotarou" after everything that happened. He resonated more with his pseudonym, which in all honesty is saying that he doesn't resonate with anything anymore.

Granted, I could be off my rocker here, but those were my initial thoughts. However, it does bring about the following thought: I mentioned the "this end justifies the means" attitude. However, Kotarou refused to kill certain people for reasons that were never clearly explained by him whenever Earth-Kagari lashed out against him for it. Is it possible to believe that, because of all the stuff that happened in Moon, he is "predisposed" to not kill certain people just as he was "predisposed" to be with Earth-Kagari?

I believe that the influence of the Moon-Kotarou happens primarily in the choice we can actually influence on Terra (when Kotarou finds Kagari in the forest). The bad ending that branches what are the heroine routes, and the main route of Terra. Due to the metafictional nature of Moon (reminds me of Umineko and Blick Winkel in Ever17) is is reserved to us choose the right answer for the Moon-Kotarou, giving aid to complete the theory of life. We are the Omnipotent Power which is cited in Moon.

One thing to think about is Kotori not recognizing the familiar when he came out - either the ending CG is lying (most likely), or the latter interactions between triple agent Kotarou and Kotori was with the former having a much more different face due to the disguise trick. Or maybe Kotori forgot or erased his existence from her mind, a possibility which is sad in of itself, considering her own heroine route thousands (millions?) of years ago. (Theoretically)

I think Balzac is referring to オカ研(Okaken) which is a short name for オカルト研究部(Occult Kenkyuubu) = Occult Research Club used by the characters. "Oka" in "Okaken" can also refer to 丘(Oka)= Hill.

A lot of significant stuff happens on hills, specifically that one hill with the single tree on it overlooking the moon (technically Earth in Moon Route's case). That's the only thing I can think of.

If you let Earth!Kagari live, all goes well. If you decide to capture her, all hope for humanity is lost.

Just a small question.

I bought the game when it first came out and I did all heroine routes except Akane which was pretty much impossible to read with my Japanese reading comprehension. I'm all patched up now and I want to go through everything properly again. Is there any was I can reset the system data without reinstalling the game?
