Apparently based on the 'Grey Witch' arc, which is getting a new take. Based on screenshots provided to 2P.com, it seems to adopt an isometric perspective (see: Torchlight, Diablo, Path of Exile) as opposed to over-the-shoulder (WoW, STO, et cetera)

Estimated alpha test commencement: summer (reference)

Woah, 25 years already. I have watched the OAVs 20 years ago already. Now to hope that they don't block overseas IPs...

No.

Record of Lodoss War is the closest thing to Dungeons & Dragons in Japanese animated media.

It had one OAV series and one TV series.

Jup, this and Slayers.
Lodoss is based on the Sword World RPG, which pretty much was based loosely on D&D i think.
Another anime in the same setting was Mahou Senshi Louie, but that was a comedy series.
