Did KyoAni match the scattered item placement from the game? I'm saying this because it looks like the pen (or pencil) from both pictures is covering the boxcutter at exactly the same angle...

I think that that your example is a fountain pen. The boxcutter in the original anime version is a skinny yellow one. In fact, it's game position is right under the fountain pen that you circled imo.



I thought that the boxcutter was concealed in a pouch and that it was this cute baby (the bear) below. But, it could also be partially covered by snow in its original game position. I suspected the bear because too many shots of it was in this episode and it seems out of place. It's also not a stuffed animal as it was in the game from your picture.

Sorry, but I believe KenOhki'sRage is right on the money. She already bought a blue pen, no point getting another writing implement. It is clearly "that other object".

We use boxcutters alot at work since we receive alot of shipments from UPS and that most definetly is a boxcutter in the pictures posted. Same color, shape, design, everything. It can't be anything else.

Who here thinks Shiori is 10x cuter in this version then in any previous Kanon? I'm thinking this time around Shiori may become my favorite. She's so very pretty in this one and she was always such a sweet girl. I wonder how I'll see things as they progress.

If by emo, you mean emo-gothic, then heck no. Shiori's tale will unravel quite soon in the anime. She was a bit depressed due to her condition, but meeting Yuuichi and the other girls changed that.

There is more to that, but it would be spoiling unecessarily.

If you have the original series, go back to ep. 9. It's the yellow object as seen in the game. It's shown in close up at 16:51 and 17:31 in ep.9 (skinny yellow boxcutter with snap off blades.) She also said via the translation that she had bought the "exacto knife" and "useless stuff" because it was her last day shopping. She was probably trying to extract the blade before going home imo.



I don't think that the boxcutter is going to be obvious in this version because of Japan's suicide rate and the effect of that suicide manual that I mentioned in this thread earlier. Plus, the game players and previous anime viewers in Japan are going to do what we're doing right now... looking for the boxcutter. I still vote for the cylinder-shaped bear object. Covered by snow and partially hidden in the same game position is an alternative imo.

Yes, the bear was in the game KenOhki'sRage, but as a stuffed animal. It looks to be cylinder-shaped in this version.
