Hmmmm. Looks like overall, Taiga closed the gap a little this last round. She's now something like 170 behind Yui's overall vote count rather than 230 from before this round.

If one looks at overall again, this is the second time Taiga and Yui will face each other this tournement. Last time was the Preliminaries from Group 13. Yui won that time. Can she do it again? Unlike Kagami-Tsukasa-Hinagiku from last year's Group 20, it is the airhead that won the group this time...but Yui wasn't the Number One overall this year like Kagami was in 2008....Nodoka was Number One over all, and Taiga just beat her. Though Yui was Number Two and Taiga was Number Three. We shall see by the weekend, how things fair.

Also maybe the last match will be the only 1,000 vs. 1,000 match this year...assuming the loss of the last Saki character doesn't cause a mass exodus of voters leaving the last match at 600 vs 600.

Lol. You need to stop letting other tournament performances affect you.

Well, looks like my ideal finals came true. I support Taiga through in through everywhere she goes, but regardless of the outcome, 2009 has been a huge success. Keep supporting your characters.

Interesting. Both Nodocchi and Captain scored 988. Coincidence? Yes. XD

More pertinent to the discussion may be, why does the Time-Total Vote graph for both Saki girls look so similar, with the abnormal spike in voting right before the polls close?

Same group voting just ten people were "blocked, sick, or miscounted". With the number of fakes running around it wouldn't be too surprising that a number like ten would slip by, either ten real votes not being counted, or ten fake votes being counted....who can say?

The question for next match is, with the lack of Saki effect the voters? It isn't like they didn't try. Far from it. High 900s verse low 1,000s to high 1,000s is respectible. Each within a 100 of their opponent at the end.

However...they still performed like most GONZO anime.

So glad that Hina won today on MS.

I will be supporting Yui on the finals of anime saimoe.

That means... 998 and 988... that's a pair of triplets. Throw in a set of 777 of the same tile; then y'got a hot mahjong hand. XD

Yesterday's Results:

Fukuji Mihoko - 988 (49.23%)
Hirasawa Yui - 1019 (50.77%)

Saki's run in this year's Saimoe has now come to a close. Saki had a good run and at one point was making a run at 6 character in the Top 8. In the end, they weren't quite able to reach the finals. Yui manages to hit 1019 votes in one match but it isn't quite enough to match Taiga's 1077. Yui vs Mihoko also had fewer votes in total than Taiga vs Nodoka. We have two very strong and nearly evenly matched competitors going into the finals. It's going to be an amazing match to end Saimoe for the year.

btw if by any chance the last round will be a 600 vs 600 my guess would be that the reason both saki girls lost was due to tactical voting that more or less joined all the "anti saki" as a result of people assuming they(saki) will win otherwise..
the math more or less adds up.
and it would make sense for people seeing 6 possible characters from the same series going into the final 8 to get stressed and basically always vote against them.

Both Taiga and Yui showed factions that were strong and with good tactics. I don't think the numbers will take a dive.

Mikuru gambit baby. One step above Xanatos. Best plan ever.

I think Saki characters ended up much like Nanoha characters and got anti votes for having so many characters in the tournament. I am supporting Yui and Junk in anime and manga saimoe finals. Still suprised that Junk beat DESU though

tell that to all the Kyoani girls last year
Hey now. One studio is different from one show. Though Clannad still had 3 in the quarters last year... Somehow I don't mind that. Watching Clannad probably helped.

KyoAni also includes Lucky Star, thus bringing studio representation last year to five.

I never mentioned studio representation. Like I said, one studio is different from one show. It doesn't matter who made them; they're different shows.

Last year was more balanced with 1-2-2-3. Not a single show dominating the board, with 1-1-1-1-4 for the quarterfinals.

Late

My picks for Day 2 of Semifinals

S2 Mihoko Fukuji [I hate Kyo-Anim, I hate Ko-An, I hate K-ON.Capten is the best matchup for Taiga-chan]

SSM2 (Manga saimoe Semifinals 2) Hinagiku Katsura [Nodoka eliminated in Day 1 of Semifinals while Hinagiku eliminated during round 3. This would be an epic matchup the difference is Hinagiku was tag-teamed during round 3.]
And the last Saki standing is eliminated for both Anime Saimoe and Manga Saimoe. Congratulations for Hinagiku on moving to the finals.

My pick for Finals

Anime Saimoe (Japan) Taiga Aisaka [Since the opponent is a K-ON character which is made by Kyo-Ani, Taiga should win this because I don't want back to back wins for Kyo-Ani sorry Yui]

Manga Saimoe Hinagiku Katsura [Even she was washed out in round 3 of Anime Saimoe, this is her chance to win only Suigintou, Maria's VA also voiced Suigintou is standing on her way]

Vote: Yui
Prediction: Taiga

This is it. And there's no Saki anywhere, ironically after their performance thus far. It also is interesting to note that the finals' representatives come from Blocks E & F, where there was the least Saki chars. Yui is 6th on my list of favorites, so I wish her the best of luck against a very tough opponent in Taiga. Statswise, it seems to favor Taiga in her quest for a double crown. I'm going to play by the numbers and predict Taiga in a close one. Both are deserving of the title though.

Final post

Voting for Taiga, even if the code generator acts dumb again and forces me to wake up at 6 am on a Saturday morning to vote for her.

Also, Suigintou. Although Hina wouldn't be bad either.

One last rush... No way it will be as insane as last year, what with the lack of participation and certainty that they're not going to lift the post limit this time (), but I'll have my reserves filled at least. Let's see how many times I can nail before I get banned.

Good times.

Rage for the last 45 minutes can be thanked for changing of post
limit from 45 seconds to 30 seconds, and removal of the
6 post temp-ban ... :)

Further rage can go here: http://forums.animesuki.com/showthre...67870&page=503
I hope we don't end up with two open threads tomorrow.
