My Mp3 player currently contains about:
25% Western Rock/Metal 10% Anime Music 5% Stand Up Comedy \ Comedy Songs 60% Japanese Pod 101 Lessons Finding songs I like take time, and my exposure to western music has a many year lead on anime or other Japanese music. I've been listening to the lessons more than anything lately but I'm fast running out of space... May have to upgrade soon... |

I like classical music since it evokes the most emotion. I don't have an MP3 player... I still use my cassette player. Haven't found an MP3 player I actually like yet (hate the iPod) As for game BGMs, only if they're really good. The Super Mario Galaxy orchestration for example has a couple of fantastic songs, mostly junk though. |

I don't really differentiate as far as taste is concerned. I listen to stuff from all over the world anyway, so it's more "oh what do I want to listen to today" thing. Then again, I'm not a "mainstream" listener by any measure. I've been called a "music snob" on more than one occasion.

Big fan of oldies like Turn back the Clock, With or Without You, Seasons Change, I Don't Want to Miss a Thing, ect. Most modern western pop has no emotional impact, so currently playing j-pop including anime.
So far Eurovision hasn't thrown anything interesting up either, so only recent aquisition for western styled music would be Eppure Sentire (Un senso di te) from Elisa and the Mass Effect 2 OST (basically for Suicide Misson) Chose "other genres" as there did not seem to have another choice more fitting |

Wait, here, are we considering all Japanese pop to be anime music? Cause that's not right and I don't see an option for other J-pop. Anime music is technically J-pop. As well all know, unlike Western cartoons, anime uses proper pop music for their theme songs and I don't like to consider it as just 'Anime music', unless it's charactor songs or OSTs.

The thread creator has admitted they messed up when creating the poll... so its probably best to let the thread die or continue with the discussion as it evolved.
And yeah... I agree if you look at the music chart structuring, then "anime music" is a subsection of "pop music" if you consider "pop music" as overlapping all the specific genre like rock, ska, metal, mainstream soft, traditional, etc. Heck, the ED of the recent series Working!! was old-fashioned "rock&roll" Jerry Lee Lewis era styling and (o.O) actually sung by the male voice actors. How rare is that anymore?
