First of all my condolences to Kawakami Tomoko's family. A beloved star from the anime community passed away, and we can only hope that her legacy lives on.
For the fans I hope that you did not miss one of her most crazy but adorable cult characters she voiced in anime. I mean Mariko from Elfen Lied, and anyone who's seen Elfen Lied know beforehand that it was pure 2000's decade, cult-classic anime. Mariko's specially with her trademark phrase: Can I kill this person? Here's some Mariko tribute: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNsVj4mOHnI |

Oh right, she voiced Sayuri. Her voice alone made that one of my favorite characters. That wonderful laugh.
I'm not going to pretend I knew anything about her personal life, but she's left behind a legacy that's brought a lot of joy to a lot of people, myself included, and that's a life well lived as far as I'm concerned.

I know it's been a while, but I never made the connection between Kawakami-san and Hikaru no Go, which I'm currently watching for the first time, until just now. She's received many well deserved tributes, but let's not forget her work in that very underrated series - she was wonderful in it.
