From my conversations on IRC, it seems like the full version translation will probably happen, but people didn't think it was worth it to get the trial translation working. I'm still excited to help translate, though I have a job/upcoming move/finding a new job to worry about.

4 days 'til release! Plus however many days until there's a patch. If only I had a Japanese OS...

NeruNeru, while I can't speak for the full game, there's a replacement game executable out there which fixes the problem of running the trial on non-Japanese windows. I think it should have been posted in this thread already.

I recently replayed the second trial to examine all the branches, and want to post my thoughts.

I wonder if anyone else observed and found unusual that the bike ride on October 7, with a CG and detailed conversation, is completely skipped if you choose to "Break" rather than "Brake". Do they expect Japanese players to look it up? The effort would be one way to ascertain the player really wants to land Chihaya's route.

The part of the game that I took the greatest notice of was the gear's hand (the clock-like symbol to the left of the text window). By the end of the trial, it moves forward either 1 or 2 times based on the choices you make. The first time on October 6 is unavoidable, while the second time on October 17 won't occur if you choose the bottom option (either way, Kotarou meets Esaka and Shizuru). Since the falling flower pot scene earlier on October 6 didn't cause the hand to move forward, I assume that "enhancement" moves it forward, while "expanding awareness" (if I read that correctly) doesn't.

It seems that quests you've obtained are constant throughout saved games right now, and in that regard it's more of an achievement system (which fits Lucia's October 16 quest "Taste the her plate"), but I'm thinking that might have been hard to reconcile with Kotori's October 16 quest which actually affects Mappy, which would explain why Kotori's quest doesn't actually show up in the Quest list. It seems like the Information screen ought to be updated in the full game to reconcile all of this.

myopius, thanks for the info. I think I have that executable and I've been using it to play the trial, but I didn't want to get my hopes up in case it didn't work on the real thing.

For the Breaking/Braking scene, both words are defined in Japanese so the players know what they're getting into. I chose Breaking the first time through, so when I discovered the cutscene on my second time through, I was pretty surprised at how much of a difference the choice made. Same with Kotori's quest on October 17, though in retrospect different choices leading to completely different scenes is fundamental to how VNs work.

I never noticed that the hand didn't move for the flower pot scene. That's an interesting theory of how it works, and I can't think of anything better offhand, but I guess we'll find out next week.

Possibility 1: They got a copy of the solution (review copies sometimes come with them)

Possibility 2: They disassembled the data files and built it from them. (They could have developed such tools working with the demo.)
