I think that Holo is alone all the time after Lawrence dies.
And she lurks in wheat and is continuing watching growth of her posterity. Other than this, I cannot imagine the happy tale which lasts forever. Quote:
The following is the preliminary advertisement. ◆Spice and Wolf XVII Epilogue Several years after a Solar Gold Coin incident... Could Holo and Lawrence get the everlasting happy tale? This is the short novel on which the sequel to the last chapter of the main part was described, and the last volume which collected other three stories! A subtitle called "Side Colors" was not given to the volume 17. It seems that other three stories mean "Merchant and the dark gray knight (行商人と鈍色の騎士)", "Wolf and a gray smiling face (狼と灰色の笑顔)", and "Wolf and a white road (狼と白い道)". There is no telling whether Yenpress publishes the stories which were not collected by "Side Colors". But, "Wolf and Gold Wheat" at least should be released. |

Now, as Kaguya said, if Wolf and gold wheat... AND FOR THAT MATTER the guide book with Wolf and the star-colored howling (I am a very slow reader) would get an English release, it would be perfect. As for the manga and related stuff... though I have them in hard-copy, it would be nice to have an English release of the two very short Holo-tan manga in the next English manga release (similar to how they did the Oiran Holo manga). Also, (I will say it again) though I have the Degeki Comic Anthology for S&W, I would like to see a US release... still no word from Yen. *HINT, HINT Yen Press... get on it please* However, I wonder how the Holo-tan short story would be released... it really does not fit into either the manga or the novels.

It was a short manga initially released in the Dengekibunko magazine Special Number Toradora! VS Index. It was a short manga set in Japan-type feudal environment. Holo is a high-class courtesan and Lawrence still a simple merchant/peddler. It was re-released (at least in the US) in Volume III of the S&W manga. Incidentally, the above stated Dengekibunko source also contained a manga relating to to the Holo-tan "world" of S&W. Another Holo-tan story (an actual short story) appears in the Dengeki h&p pirate book. There is also another Holo-tan manga (2 pages) that appears in the Dengeki When the Last Bell Rings book. Hope that helped! I am fortunate to have all of those. They may not all get an English release! Once I determine whether or not the West will get releases of the remaining short stories, I will decide whether or not I will have to buy the original Japanese versions, so I can make sure my collection of official S&W stories is complete!

Iya, like 6 or so. I can't remember right off hand. I don't have either book on hand as I am currently still at work. But, it is most definitely more than a single page.
*** Oh, by the way, the original Nih. release of the Volume III manga DID include the Oiran Holo story. And, I checked my copy of the manga, it is ACTUALLY only 4 pages... my memory had failed me!

This part of the discussion might be better suited for the manga thread if you have further questions for people. (I hope that didn't sound rude; I couldn't find the right way to say that). To answer that question...
...two are manga. And, they are 6 pages total. I do not know if the original Japanese releases of Volumes IV-VI contain them. But, I can almost guarantee that if they do not get released as an extra like the Oiran Holo manga did, there won't be an English release. You will have to get them from the original magazines in which they appeared. As for the Holo-tan short story (text not manga), I believe that is the same situation. And thus far, I know it has not been placed in any of the Side Colors Volumes.

As I understand, the second season skipped volume 4 of the light novel in favor of volume 5. Apparently, volume 4 is "better" than volume 5, but volume 5 provides more closure for the end of an anime series. I don't suppose anyone could explain what about volume 4 makes it "superior" to volume 5? I'm especially curious because this will be the first S&W novel that I've read without having seen other media depictions first.
**air quotes because Spice and Wolf cannot be superior or inferior to itself. Spice and Wolf simply is.** |
