Never imagined THIS would be licensed. I hope they drop the "translation" of "casual sex partners". A more fitting translation, and more potentially amusing, would be "friends with benefits". I once described this show's premise to a friend, and I waited a couple seconds before adding the "benefits" part; he almost choked. And it would make the initial scene more amusing. "When I get to high school... I wanna get 100 sex partners!" just doesn't sound as funny to me as "When I get to high school, I want to make 100 friends.... with BENEFITS!". This is particularly true since in Japanese there's an actual saying about wanting to get 100 friends in high school, so the part about making a hundred friends is somewhat expected there.

I see where you're coming from, but I think part of what makes Yamada's personality so funny/eccentric is that she's so blunt about what she wants in this area. "Friends with benefits" has a certain sophistication about it, and it's almost like she's trying to be "coy" about what she wants. And in fact, at that point in her mind, she doesn't really want "friends", benefits or not -- she really does just want to have sex with 100 guys. (How she came to the conclusion that she wanted this is still a bit of a mystery...

) She tackles the relationship with Kousuda almost more as a means to an end, at least at first.

But anyway... I do think that the translation here could be a fun project for someone, as there's plenty of room for creativity in the wording that the fansubbers may not have taken the time (or had the ability) to consider. So regardless, it should be a good license, even if it may regrettably be arriving partly as a result of the poor Japanese sales.

Actually, the translator for the subs I watched said "100 ***k Buddies", which I found plenty amusing at the time.

Also not sure about the chosen American title for this: Yamada's First Time. I'd prefer something like "The 16-Year-Old Virgin". Or they could try for an attempt at a direct translation like "Type B and Horny".

It's still B Gata H Kei. They merely added a subtitle of "Yamada's First Time".

Bleh, super late reply, I think (I don't know what month is this xDDDDD).

Chapter 11 of the anime ends with volume 5. Chapter 12 tuck ins volume 6 completely, but because that they change many things and cut many things. If you want the best experience start from volume 6, otherwise 7 might do.

Now THAT I did not see coming. Not that I'm complaining, but what an odd choice! I hope they have the stones to adapt Yamada to be just as blunt and tactless in English. Though I suppose if they're willing to license B Gata H Kei at all, it's not as if they don't know what they're getting into. I'm happy to admit that this one is a guilty pleasure, and I got more than a few laughs out of it.

i love this series...im about half way thru the manga- idk why but yamada has a very endearing personality. not quite "tsundere" but beyond that

i heard rumors of a 2nd season getting green lit...can anyone confirm?

I haven't seen or read anything along these lines to this point. As one anecdotal measure, the DVD/Blu-Ray sales were pretty low/middling compared to series that have traditionally gotten sequels... but there could always be other factors. I'd love for this series to get a sequel... but I'm not holding out hope...

OH MY GOD

This has got to be the funniest, most OUTRAGEOUS dub ever produced for an anime. It's on Funimation Premium on On Demand for digital cable. I actually paid 99 cents per episode. I NEVER DO THAT.

I don't know how this show is in Japanese but the dub will have you going "I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE JUST SAID THAT."

This script has me literally rolling around on the floor with laughter!!

well i just went through whole dub of b gata h kei series of it really whoever wrote the dub really this so this so wow really good dub writing & casting on it.

give big wow at Brittney Karbowski's yamada give compare other good gawd almighty really indeed one of karb's best roles ever.

lookinhg cast list big wow give some va we're had little known roles & upcoming yet some them were show stealer especially kazuki's dub compare her to mam noto oh wow really total fit on it.

really indeed mix few regulars aka karb & rami with some upcoming rising va with also those few or some roles really good mix & great dub indeed.
