@Kossa: Im putting Vivio and Syn at early teenage years, although i've not quite decided on age. It depends on where i take the fic, or how mature it gets..............

@Alquall: Yeah i can understand about writing Syn is difficult if you didn't create her, i just figured id give it a shot. I keep asking Keroko questions, sorry about that Keroko!

Anyway here is part 2!

Lunch passed too quickly for the two young girls sitting on the roof. After the initial embarrassment of Vivio, Syn quickly warmed up to this blunt and strong headed girl. She had obviously heard of the baby devil and the name that went with it, and after just under an hour of non stop chat, she realized they were so similar it actually hurt. Syn had also been singled out at her previous school. She had been with her mother these last few months while the arrangements were made for her enrollment at this academy. An urgent mission had come up not too long ago which had been the reason why she was late in starting the school.

“So have you got a device yet?”

Syn snapped back up to look at the girl in front of her after her little daydream.

“Not yet, I want to specialise in Belkan style magic, but I’m more of a ranged fighter so I’m having a hard time finding one that I want. I still train with some basic devices and have had some battle experience but not a device to call my own.”

Syn wondered why she felt so compelled to answer Vivio’s questions so readily, she usually sounded people out first before letting her defences down. She didn’t quite understand her unconscious will to please the girl in front of her, something about her smile seemed disarming.

“Why are you so interested in Belkan magic?” Vivio replied, curiosity shining in her eyes.

“I…..don’t know? Just when I was younger I had an interest in it, and also the wolkenritter, I really like their style of magic! It’s more potent too!”

Vivio giggled slightly at the outburst. Syn automatically went back on the defensive.

“What’s so funny?!”

“Ah…. No it’s just you looked so serious in class, you finally opened up a little! Besides if you want ranged weaponry, can’t you modify a mid type gun style device?”

Syn’s face softened again after she realised she didn’t need to be so uptight. It was just an automatic defence mechanism. Mid childan magic was the standard type, she usually had to defend her choice of Belkan as it was sometimes looked down upon.

“I don’t want a gun type device, it doesn’t offer the same sort of flexibility with its projectiles, I need something else”

“Your quite stubborn about what you want aren’t you?” Vivio replied.

“It’s not that I’m stubborn! Its that the TSAB doesn’t supply enough for Belkan style mages! Theres hardly any! You think they would encourage it more with knights like Signum so well revered!”

Vivio just watched as Syn went on what must have been the fifth rant in their little talk on the roof. It seemed the girl was stubborn and passionate and wouldn’t back down against anything. Vivio smiled, she thinks she could get along with this girl quite well, but there was something about her last name….Virage. ‘Where have I heard that before?’

The bell rang, suddenly ending the fool-proof case Syn was demonstrating on Belkan magic causing the girl to go into a slight huff as they made their way back to class.

The rest of the day went by fairly smoothly and soon it was the end of the day where the students could head back to their rooms. Just as they were packing away and Vivio was about to ask that they walk together Syn turned to face her.

“Hey Vivio, I’ve got to go sort out some registration forms as I was late, it could take a while and is tedious so can I catch up with you later?”

Vivio asked to go with her but Syn said it would be boring so they went their separate ways.

As Vivio was walking back towards her dorm she mentally cursed. ‘I forgot to tell Syn what room I’m in! Mou! I’ll have to try and find her.’ Vivio went back to her dorm room and found her door ajar. Mind quickly advancing to the worst case scenario she silently dropped her bag to her side and backed up against the door hearing some movement inside, the person was still in there. With a sharp intake of breath she burst through the door to come face to face with……


Syn was wondering down the corridor cursing again at how long the stupid forms took, and why she was late in the first place. She finally found her new dorm room, hopefully all her stuff was moved in. “Let’s see, room 403..”

As she opened the door, the sound of laughter met her ears and her bag and mouth dropped at the sight in front of her.

“M…..mum!?!?!”

A blue haired woman in a naval uniform looked at her daughter standing awkwardly in the door way.

“What are you doing here? I thought you had to leave for a mission and….”

“I’ve not got to leave just yet, and I couldn’t when I realised you had left some important things behind in you room!”

Vivio just sat silently as she watched the exchange with a cat like grin on her face. She knew she had heard the Virage name before, Nanoha-mama had introduced her to her one time, she didn’t know Syn had famous parents too! ‘Maybe that’s why we get on so well so soon?’

Syn’s face paled at the full power motherly grin on the person in front of her including the small satchel held in her left hand.

“I couldn’t let you come here leaving all the girly stuff behind I bought you especially, you will never lose your tom boy image if you do! I’ve also briefed Vivio on the situation!”

Syn shot a look at her new friend, glaring with all her power and mentally trying to imprint the message of “You dare carry out that mission under penalty of pain!” but it just bounced off the grin that Vivio was also radiating. Syn was not one to back down. Ever. But her mother was the only person who seemed immune to her arguments and glares. Reluctantly sighing in defeat she went and sat down on her new bed opposite Vivio.

Her mum then began to unzip the bag and kneel behind her while absentmindedly chatting away. “Isn’t it great you will be sharing a room with Vivio, I bet Hayate had a hand in this, and your friends already!....” Syn began to get a little sleepy as her mother played with her hair and began putting some ribbons in it. She seemed to come up with new hairstyles every time she did this and she would have to keep it on at least until she left.

Vivio was staring at the girl in front of her intently, it reminded her of her mama. It made her a little homesick, but at the same time happy that she had found a comrade in arms. Maybe she could convince Syn to let her play with her hair sometimes, although that might take a little working up to.

“There all done!”

Elena announced as she got up from the bed and stood next to Vivio as she examined her handiwork. There stood Syn, in the standard uniform, but not had two pigtails either side of her with one red and one blue ribbon holding each in place. Syn sweatdropped as her mother cooed over her and how feminine she looks. She glared at Vivio who was hiding a snigger behind her hand. Oh that girl would pay later on.

Vivio sensed that Elena would be leaving soon and made an excuse to leave.

“Elena-san, I’ll go get some food for me and Syn for dinner, I hope you will visit again soon!”

A brief hug was exchanged before a whisper was ushered into Vivio’s ear.

“I know she can be stubborn, but please look after her, she’s like you in many ways and by the looks of things I think she might actually listen to you….” A soft chuckle was heard before Vivio left the two alone for a little while.

“Mother…”

Syn looked up at the woman as she was caught in an embarrassing hug, now more content to lean into it now no one was here to witness it.

With a little more talk and words of encouragement a final embrace was shared along with a loving kiss on her daughters head.

“Be strong Syn, I am already so proud of you, just do your best.”

Syn could only nod as she stubbornly kept herself together in front of her mother. She would never admit it to anyone, but she loved and respected both her parents, but felt a larger attachment to her mother. Being away form her for so long after being with her for many months will be hard, but she will persevere. She would not disappoint them. She would become a daughter worthy of two great TSAB naval officers, and two great parents.

A small tear was wiped out of her eyes before it could make itself known as her mum left her in the room alone. Another voice was heard muffled beyond the door before Vivio came back in with various food in her hands and chucked it on her side of the bed before facing Syn again.

Syn was just standing there, arms stuck to her sides, trying to maintain a straight face. ‘I won’t cry….I WONT CRY!’

Syn didn’t notice that tears were already streaming down her face even though no sound was being emitted. Vivio silently moved across the room and gently embraced the frozen girl. Not being able to offer any words of comfort, just the warmth that she wasn’t alone, as Vivio pulled Syn to her, rubbing her back softly.

"Morning Routine"

Early morning sunlight filtered into the married couple’s bedroom. Like clockwork, he woke up without an alarm clock at the exact time he wanted. His less punctual wife on the other hand cuddled up closer to him. With a sigh he poked the woman to try to wake her up.

“Mou… what’s with the poking.” the brunette next to him snuggled even closer to him.

“It’s morning.”

“So…”

“And you have to get to the training grounds in an hour form now Dear.”

The brunette turned over and yawned “Let me sleep a little more…”

“You’ll sleep in and be late. It will set a bad example for your students.”

“There was an emergency scramble last night,” The door to their bedroom creaked open, “and I didn’t get back home till 4… I can get by with being late, unlike you Mr. punctual.”

“Har har…”

Just then four pairs of eyes peered over the top of the mattress at the sleepy woman.

“See, even the munchkins are awake.”

”Mom!” the girls happily greeted their mother.

“Honey, will you do something about them…”

The man started to scoot out of the bed. “Their your daughters.” That comment was answered with a kick to the side that pushed him the rest of the way out of the bed. The spot he left was quickly filled by two of the girls who decided to climb up on the bed.

“Girls… leave mommy alone…” the woman pleaded, “She’s sleepy…”


The husband left his wife to their daughters as he went into the master bath. Like normal he took his morning shower, shaved his face, and put on a portion of his formal cloths and carried the rest with him out of the bath. He walked down the hall of his two story home that he prided himself over. Walking down the steps he noticed that the railing was loose, probably form the girls, and mad a mental note to fix it later. Once into the kitchen he got to work at making breakfast. He loved his wife dearly but she had no idea how to cook a meal. He made started to make himself an omelet with special ingredients first before he decided what to make for the children and his wife. Almost like it was on cue one of the chibies started to pull on his leg. He turned around and noticed that the other ones where climbing up onto the chairs awaiting their breakfast. “So girls, what do you want to eat?”

The little ones chewed it over for a second before one of them exclaimed “Eggs!”

“Ok, ill make you eggs. Do you want any toast or hash browns?”

“Yes Daddy”

“Yes to what?” he amused.

“Both!”

”Heh heh, alright then.” He got to work on making the order while keeping tabs on his omelet. Once his meal was finished he placed it on a plate, poured himself a glass of milk, and ate his meal while tending the one for the kids. After a few minuets he was glomped from behind again, this time by his wife.

“Morning~”

“Well morning there. Want some breakfast.” He lifted up a plate that he just finished preparing.

The brunette yawned into her husband’s back. “No time, I have to go to the training field.”

“Well who’s fault is that.” He took the plate and set it down on the table where the little ones where eating at. “If you are going to be late, at least be late with a meal in you belly.”

The woman rubbed her eyes and walked over to the table, “If you insist…”

“I do insist.” He walked back over to the kitchen counter and took his own finished plate and placed it into the sink. “Dear, I’m most likely going to be late coming home tonight. There is going to be a meeting with the various departments today and I’m giving a presentation on efficiency procedures.” He returned to his wife’s side and gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Make sure to save some dinner for me.”

“Ok Honey.” The woman returned the kiss in kind. “Ok girls, when you’re done eating go upstairs and get dressed, we need to get to the field in, OH! Ten minuets.”

The man left his now scrabbling wife to go to the bathroom one last time to brush his teeth and put on the rest of his formal ware. He walked out the door of his home with his traditional goodbye and took a deep breath of the fresh morning air. Taking off he made his way down the sidewalk to the main branch, running into his partner at the same intersection as always. “Good morning Sir.”

“Good morning Bardiche.” greeted Fate to the unison device. “Do you have any idea why Nanoha was banning around so late at night for?”

“Ah yes, Raising-san said that there was a scramble last night… As usual she had trouble waking up in the morning.”

“Like Master, like UD.”

“Yes Sir.”

“Are you ready for the meeting today? I believe Shari will also be there.” The blond took a sip of her overly strong coffee

“Yes, I have prepared everything and if Shari is attending, I will have to say my thanks in person for the home she made me and Raising-san.”

“Ah yes, that home is so cute… and is my little stud making use of the bedroom? I bet part of Raising Heart’s morning problems are due to ‘extraneous’ activities…”

“Umm… Sir…”

“Oh don’t be bashful, like Master, like UD.”

Another barrage of green beams pummeled the young Belkan user’s armor ripping a hole on the side of her torso.

“Your aim’s as bad as your power,” she snarled as a great triangle sprung up from underneath her.

She pulled back her bow quickly as her one exposed eye sought out her intended target in the gray sky engulfed in smoke and flames. She had been separated from her parents when the first pink, yellow, and green beams of magical energy destroyed the munitions dump outside of her family’s training facility. The wider and brighter shots followed her family and colleagues, but the smaller green blasts followed her as she fled to the high ground.

Her right bicep twitched and sweat dripped from her forehead as she waited for the inevitable from the billows of smoke and dust. She released the bow as soon as the first green shot pierced through the smoke. The yelp of pain from the other side of the cloud told her that her arrow found its mark. She grinned in satisfaction as four more magical arrows sailed from her powerful bow in rapid succession.

She clenched her teeth, and her boots scraped against the rocky surface as she pulled back her bow while storming blindly through the gray haze. She passed a shattered Intelligent Device that spewed forth green sparks. Her brow furrowed but then relaxed as she saw a boot and heard a moan of pain.

“If you’re lucky, you won’t feel a thing when I finish you off,” she said as her boots crunched on the smoldering embers toward the outline of a writhing body, “but the odds are pretty steep against you. Remember, that the house…”

She pointed the pulled-back arrow mere inches away from the bleeding mage’s face.

“…always wins.”

She meant to release the arrow, but her arm froze as the girl beneath her opened her eyes. They were two different colors just like hers, but she didn’t hide her odd eye with a patch.

“I know you…” she whispered to the injured mage on the ground.

“That’s it,” the young mage gasped, “Remember….”

The bow-user’s resolve returned, “Oh yeah, I remember now. You’re the one trying to kill me and gun down my family.”

She drew her bow back, but a Modified Belkan device slammed into her face before she could give the deathblow. She winced as she felt her top molars slice into the inside of her cheek. She staggered a few steps back, wiping the blood from her mouth with the back of her hand and marveled as the injured mage forced her broken body to stand.

“You idiot…” the young blond panted while looking at the smears of blood on her cartridge-powered glove, “They aren’t your family! Remember, Syn!”

“That’s a Belkan device!”

“You should know!” the angry blond with heterochromatic eyes yelled, “You modified it for me!”

“I couldn’t have! Like Hell I’d ever lift a finger for a Mid-Childian! Who the hell are you?!”

“Who the hell are YOU?” shouted the blond, “I want Syn back!”

“Who the fu-“

The mage sprinted at her without her Intelligent Device and slammed her gloved fist into the blue-hair woman’s stomach knocking the wind out of her. The bow-user heaved as she gasped for any air available. Before she could recover, a naked fist made contact with the other side of her face with enough force to break the fingers of the already battered blond, and her blood spilled from her mouth onto her clothes and dripped onto the rocky ground.

She locked eyes with the blond and saw that the mage had tears streaming down her face. She heard the distinctive sound of a cartridge load, and then she felt the smooth metal and the sharp pain as it crashed into her face again. It snagged on her eyepatch and ripped it from her head.

“So help me,” the mage roared in pain, “I will beat the memories back into your head!”

The bare right hand cracked against the bridge of the Belkan Knight’s nose, and the mage sobbed in pain while forcing the gloved left hand to extend forward again.

Unable to move or breathe, the blue-haired woman continued to fall back while blow after blow landed on her face and torso until the ground crumbled from under her feet. She felt the initial panic of freefall but dug her hand into the side of the cliff before she dropped into the misty abyss below here.

“SYN!”

Her right arm cried with pain as she clung to the rocks for dear life. She looked up through her bruised and swollen eyelids to see a set of terrified eyes looking down at her.

“SYN!”

That name sounded familiar. Her vision blurred, and her strength waned. So, this is what death felt like. Kind of nice.

“SYN! DON’T YOU QUIT ON ME! DON’T YOU DARE QUIT ON ME!”

“Vivio?”

She didn’t know where that word came from, but it made the mage above her smile and reach out her gloved hand. With the last of her strength, she pulled herself up with her right hand enough to place her left hand into the palm of the metal glove. Then, her strength gave out, and she fell slightly, but then her body jerked upward as the glove gripped onto her wrist and refused to relinquish its hold. The cliff side scraped the front of her torso, and her left shoulder was dislocated as she was dragged to the top. She opened her swollen red and blue eyes to see that she was lying on top of the gasping mage with red and green irides. She stared into the curious eyes as images flashed in front of her own mind’s eye.

“Vivio?” she whispered cautiously.

“Syn…” Vivio smiled before passing out.

Also, no works from me... yet. I spend most of today finalizing the profile and device of the OC of my upcoming story (the only OC, don't worry. And there will be pictures to help visualize).

Actually, most of today was spend thinking up a good name. Blast it, good names can sometimes be so hard to find.

The story in question is planned to be very focussed on Ginga and the numbers. Whether Teana will have a strong role depends on the SSX (in fact, a lot of the story depends on SSX, even the focus, but I certainly hope so). The first chapter is mainly an introduction chapter, explaining how and why the various characters know eachother and such, its set pre-SSX, sometime during StrikerS, so it should be recognisable to most.

With a bit of luck the first chapter should be out tomorow, but I won't make any promises.

Yep, her kids are the blaster bits. I kind of visualize them as hyperactive mini RH's (about the relative size a ten year old is to a 20 year old).

The dream sequence was sad. I could recognize Hayate but I agree with Kai, you need to work on Hayate. Woo! Everyone is healed. What did they do to Vita? Dr. Faust needs to die. I wonder what's wrong with the Emperor. Interesting name for the Demon Overlord... OMG! I love the AMI appearance. AMI is awesome sauce. Finally Zaeta's past is being revealed. The ending was such a Nanoha thing to do. But I worry about all the Mages. "Death to the Mages!

Another barrage of green beams pummeled the young Belkan user’s armor ripping a hole on the side of her torso.

“Your aim’s as bad as your power,” she snarled as a great triangle sprung up from underneath her.

She pulled back her bow quickly as her one exposed eye sought out her intended target in the gray sky engulfed in smoke and flames. She had been separated from her parents when the first pink, yellow, and green beams of magical energy destroyed the munitions dump outside of her family’s training facility. The wider and brighter shots followed her family and colleagues, but the smaller green blasts followed her as she fled to the high ground.

Her right bicep twitched and sweat dripped from her forehead as she waited for the inevitable from the billows of smoke and dust. She released the bow as soon as the first green shot pierced through the smoke. The yelp of pain from the other side of the cloud told her that her arrow found its mark. She grinned in satisfaction as four more magical arrows sailed from her powerful bow in rapid succession.

She clenched her teeth, and her boots scraped against the rocky surface as she pulled back her bow while storming blindly through the gray haze. She passed a shattered Intelligent Device that spewed forth green sparks. Her brow furrowed but then relaxed as she saw a boot and heard a moan of pain.

“If you’re lucky, you won’t feel a thing when I finish you off,” she said as her boots crunched on the smoldering embers toward the outline of a writhing body, “but the odds are pretty steep against you. Remember, that the house…”

She pointed the pulled-back arrow mere inches away from the bleeding mage’s face.

“…always wins.”

She meant to release the arrow, but her arm froze as the girl beneath her opened her eyes. They were two different colors just like hers, but she didn’t hide her odd eye with a patch.

“I know you…” she whispered to the injured mage on the ground.

“That’s it,” the young mage gasped, “Remember….”

The bow-user’s resolve returned, “Oh yeah, I remember now. You’re the one trying to kill me and gun down my family.”

She drew her bow back, but a Modified Belkan device slammed into her face before she could give the deathblow. She winced as she felt her top molars slice into the inside of her cheek. She staggered a few steps back, wiping the blood from her mouth with the back of her hand and marveled as the injured mage forced her broken body to stand.

“You idiot…” the young blond panted while looking at the smears of blood on her cartridge-powered glove, “They aren’t your family! Remember, Syn!”

“That’s a Belkan device!”

“You should know!” the angry blond with heterochromatic eyes yelled, “You modified it for me!”

“I couldn’t have! Like Hell I’d ever lift a finger for a Mid-Childian! Who the hell are you?!”

“Who the hell are YOU?” shouted the blond, “I want Syn back!”

“Who the fu-“

The mage sprinted at her without her Intelligent Device and slammed her gloved fist into the blue-hair woman’s stomach knocking the wind out of her. The bow-user heaved as she gasped for any air available. Before she could recover, a naked fist made contact with the other side of her face with enough force to break the fingers of the already battered blond, and her blood spilled from her mouth onto her clothes and dripped onto the rocky ground.

She locked eyes with the blond and saw that the mage had tears streaming down her face. She heard the distinctive sound of a cartridge load, and then she felt the smooth metal and the sharp pain as it crashed into her face again. It snagged on her eyepatch and ripped it from her head.

“So help me,” the mage roared in pain, “I will beat the memories back into your head!”

The bare right hand cracked against the bridge of the Belkan Knight’s nose, and the mage sobbed in pain while forcing the gloved left hand to extend forward again.

Unable to move or breathe, the blue-haired woman continued to fall back while blow after blow landed on her face and torso until the ground crumbled from under her feet. She felt the initial panic of freefall but dug her hand into the side of the cliff before she dropped into the misty abyss below here.

“SYN!”

Her right arm cried with pain as she clung to the rocks for dear life. She looked up through her bruised and swollen eyelids to see a set of terrified eyes looking down at her.

“SYN!”

That name sounded familiar. Her vision blurred, and her strength waned. So, this is what death felt like. Kind of nice.

“SYN! DON’T YOU QUIT ON ME! DON’T YOU DARE QUIT ON ME!”

“Vivio?”

She didn’t know where that word came from, but it made the mage above her smile and reach out her gloved hand. With the last of her strength, she pulled herself up with her right hand enough to place her left hand into the palm of the metal glove. Then, her strength gave out, and she fell slightly, but then her body jerked upward as the glove gripped onto her wrist and refused to relinquish its hold. The cliff side scraped the front of her torso, and her left shoulder was dislocated as she was dragged to the top. She opened her swollen red and blue eyes to see that she was lying on top of the gasping mage with red and green irides. She stared into the curious eyes as images flashed in front of her own mind’s eye.

“Vivio?” she whispered cautiously.

“Syn…” Vivio smiled before passing out.

Ooh that was good. I agree with the prequel idea.

I've got to say, this made my day a lot brighter! It couldn't have come at a better time. The beginning was great, that dream/whatever it was, although I'll admit I wouldn't have recognized Hayate until her name was mentioned, which makes me a bit sad. What happened to Vita?!? Or what does the Emperor actually want with her?!? I'll say, there were some really funny pages and frames this time around. Yay for AMI! And Zaeta had gained another layer of story and maybe I can stand her a little better now after that. Nanoha was awesome at the end though. All in all this chapter really made my day and it's probably one of the best ones so far. Thanks a lot!

I blinked and looked up from my hospital bed when the door opened. My parents shuffled in and closed the door behind them after having a small conversation with someone I couldn't see. My mother gave my a stuffed teddy bear that I promptly hugged to get some comfort for what was going to come. "Thank you," I told her while holding the plushie. "I'll name it Etaf."

My mom smiled at me lovingly before sitting by my bed. As there was only one chair, my father stood at my side and both looked down at me. "Hello," My dad started, eyes downcast.

"I'm fine," I stated at once. "I just had an attack. I can leave tomorrow."

"Maybe you should come back home," My mother, Momoko, began her normal routine and I sighed.

"Mom, really, I'm okay. It was just a moment. I've had them since I was little."

"If you wern't brought here you could have-"

I cut my father off. "Could have laid in bed groaning for a day and then gone to school like I will as soon as I leave. My exams are coming up. I'm not-"

"Made of glass, we know." Momoko took my hand. "Honey, the doctor said that you need to increase your doseage...."

"Oh great," I rolled my eyes. "Six pills for breakfast, yummy." Looking away, I frowned and would have crossed my arms if not for the fact my left one was being held.

"Sweetheart, I know it's hard but you can't afford to keep taking the risk by living on your own...."

"Mom, really."

"She's right, you have been in bed far too much recently."

"Dad, I have not!" I shook my head. "I have gone on dates and even bungee jumped!"

"What!?" Their word was said at the same time, making me flintch and fall back in bed, tired from my small outbreak.

"I'm living a normal college life," I informed them, getting tired. Even talking made me sleepy now it seemed. " Please. Really. I'll be okay."

A long silence came over the room before my dad changed the topic for me. "Who was the blondie outside?"

"Her? Oh that's Fate-chan. She's...." I thought about what to say. "A really close friend. She brought me here. She also looks after me at home and helps me run the bakery so I can study."

Momoko smiled at me. "Such a nice girl. Are you paying her properly?"

"Um... no, she won't accept money. She's... kind of a millionaire. Maybe more, I dunno. She does it for fun, but I pay her nephew, he helps too." I laughed nervously at their looks. "She's.... really really nice. She dresses a little weird, but don't let it fool you."

"Does she go to church?"

I grinned. "She wears a cross everywhere she goes."

My dad nodded. "I did see that... maybe she is a nice girl aftera--"

A crash and explosion rang from outside my room and I sat up quickly in shock, then felt lightheaded and almost passed out. My mom jumped to my side as my dad ran out the door.

"Hayate, what happened!?"

I could barely make out a semi-familiar girl in the hallway through my hazed vision. "Ummm... " She scratched the back of her head and laughed nervously. "A trolly-bed-thing-a-ma-jigger just slid out of control and crashed through that window down there..."

"And the fire!?" My dad almost shouted as people ran to douse it.

"Um.... I don't know?" The girl started to sweatdrop.

I groaned in pain and felt my mom lean me back in bed. "I want to see Fate-chan..."

My dad came back in the room with the other girl, who I could swear I've seen before. "The blond? She wasn't out there anymore."

The short brown haired girl looked at me and our eyes locked.

For some reason I felt weird....

It's Etaf! Yay! What happened in the hallway? I love how Nanoha shocked everyone with the "I've been on dates and even gone bungee jumping". Sadly this chapter still didn't explain what's wrong with Nanoha. I vote B for Vampireness!

I could barely make out a semi-familiar girl in the hallway through my hazed vision. "Ummm... " She scratched the back of her head and laughed nervously. "A trolly-bed-thing-a-ma-jigger just slid out of control and crashed through that window down there..."

"And the fire!?" My dad almost shouted as people ran to douse it.

"Um.... I don't know?" The girl started to sweatdrop.

I groaned in pain and felt my mom lean me back in bed. "I want to see Fate-chan..."

My dad came back in the room with the other girl, who I could swear I've seen before. "The blond? She wasn't out there anymore."

The short brown haired girl looked at me and our eyes locked.

For some reason I felt weird....

A.) Nanoha
B.) Fate

Gah! And here I was thinking we'd finally get some real info about Nanoha's ilness. Great, now I'm left wondering what the hell happened.

Still, I want to see Hayate talking to Nanoha, maybe she'd explain a few things, such as why she came here in the first place.

I blinked and looked up from my hospital bed when the door opened. My parents shuffled in and closed the door behind them after having a small conversation with someone I couldn't see. My mom smiled at me lovingly before sitting by my bed. As there was only one chair, my father stood at my side and both looked down at me. "Hello," My dad started, eyes downcast.

"I'm fine," I stated at once. "I just had an attack. I can leave tomorrow."

"Maybe you should come back home," My mother, Momoko, began her normal routine and I sighed.

"Mom, really, I'm okay. It was just a moment. I've had them since I was little."

"If you wern't brought here you could have-"

I cut my father off. "Could have laid in bed groaning for a day and then gone to school like I will as soon as I leave. My exams are coming up. I'm not-"

"Made of glass, we know." Momoko took my hand. "Honey, the doctor said that you need to increase your doseage...."

"Oh great," I rolled my eyes. "Six pills for breakfast, yummy." Looking away, I frowned and would have crossed my arms if not for the fact my left one was being held.

"Sweetheart, I know it's hard but you can't afford to keep taking the risk by living on your own...."

"Mom, really."

"She's right, you have been in bed far too much recently."

"Dad, I have not!" I shook my head. "I have gone on dates and even bungee jumped!"

"What!?" Their word was said at the same time, making me flintch and fall back in bed, tired from my small outbreak.

"I'm living a normal college life," I informed them, getting tired. Even talking made me sleepy now it seemed. " Please. Really. I'll be okay."

A long silence came over the room before my dad changed the topic for me. "Who was the blondie outside?"

"Her? Oh that's Fate-chan. She's...." I thought about what to say. "A really close friend. She brought me here. She also looks after me at home and helps me run the bakery so I can study."

Momoko smiled at me. "Such a nice girl. Are you paying her properly?"

"Um... no, she won't accept money. She's... kind of a millionaire. Maybe more, I dunno. She does it for fun, but I pay her nephew, he helps too." I laughed nervously at their looks. "She's.... really really nice. She dresses a little weird, but don't let it fool you."

"Does she go to church?"

I grinned. "She wears a cross everywhere she goes."

My dad nodded. "I did see that... maybe she is a nice girl aftera--"

A crash and explosion rang from outside my room and I sat up quickly in shock, then felt lightheaded and almost passed out. My mom jumped to my side as my dad ran out the door.

"Hayate, what happened!?"
