Yep, this week was a lot better than the first episode. I'm still not a huge fan of the flashback style of telling the beginning part of the story, but they eased off of the throttle enough that the pacing felt much closer to what it should be for a decent adaptation. Hopefully this trend will continue. A few other things worth mentioning:

I quite liked the new scene featuring Shizuku training herself at night. It seems she has a habit of swinging her sword around to help clear her head. It's a nice parallel to the scene from the end of volume 8. Her interaction with Hiyama was interesting. She had her suspicions in the novel, but like the others didn't want to pursue it further due to the consequences uncovering the truth might have had. One minor disappointment is that we didn't get to see the evil Eri foreshadowing yet. Hopefully that will come later. Also a bit sad that they cut out Kouki and Ryuutarou busting in on Shizuku and Kaori hugging and the inevitable misunderstanding that followed.

Incidentally, I counted 35 students + Aiko at Ishtar's little exposition luncheon, so in most scenes we're only seeing a small slice of the main ones. I think it's safe to assume by now that we will never get a clear look at Endou's face.

Here's some addition cast from the episode that was never formerly announced:

Knight - Hiromichi Tezuka

This week's short episode was pretty funny. The title is something along the lines of "It was a Dangerous Fellow After All". Hajime gets a glimpse of Yue's yandere potential and decides to run for the hills.

I've yet to see the episode, but I've checked Ep03 title: "The Golden Vampire Princess".
Next episode may go up to Hajime saving Yue from the plant monster controlling her.
If it goes that way, only by Vol02 content one may try to guess the adaptation's pacing.

Definitely better episode than Ep01. Given how much time they spent this week on the primary premise, they could've put this on Ep01 in place of the OP&ED.

The screenplay has been the same people for both episodes so far. The other roles have been taken up by different people. It's a standard practice in television to put different people in charge of each individual episode while your key staff oversees the project as a whole to ensure consistency. Of course, that's also why you'll notice some differences in quality and style within the same series too depending on who's sitting behind the wheel on a given week.
