Actually, I am happy that things are not in Sheryl's favor right now, because there's still hope that it will turn into SURPRISE! SherylXAlto at the last episode of Macross F - True Macross Love Triangle style. If it was more SherylXAlto right now, then I would be scared for sure that it will turn to RankaXAlto in the end. Have your fun right now, Ranka, our Queen will win in the end! *cackles* |

I may definitely need the subs for this, because I'm about to say that this episode suffers greatly from terrible and inconsistent storytelling, from the way they danced briefly with each scenario, starting from the part where Ranka bids Alto goodbye before completely breaking down in Brera's arms, only to recover five seconds later, to Ai-kun shedding his skin and revealing himself to be a Vajra, which Ranka didn't bat even an eye to??, to a completely different person who looks like Ranka compared to the Ranka of one episode ago.

Don't forget that when Alto is with one girl, he often forgets the other. When its Ranka time for him its mostly on Ranka. And when its Sheryl, well more focused on Sheryl.
Lets hope Ranka will dedicate herself to the Vajra while being with Onii-chan Brera :3

yo for a second I was like WTF?! She flew away. I was like let me find out this bastard has a habit of deceiving viewers by convincing them they are deliberately deceiving them...
Whoo I totally broke out in sweats...and I could imagine I heard your laughter...then I saw the next episode preview. That was close! |

It's similar to what Hikaru said to Minmay just before going off to save Misa in "Love Drifts Away". "Just so you know, I have always loved you. kthxbye." I bet she tries to take that back later as well. Also, it's surely better than Mylene's "You didn't reciprocate my affections, so I'll going to hound you to the ends of the Galaxy, while dragging the *other* guy along with my crazed stalker agenda because he's a pushover and I want my cake and get to eat it too." Er...she said Brera was like a big brother before? Hello? did you miss that part? Weren't reciprocated? What the hell are you guys watching. I swear this is like deja vu....Sheryl's feelings aren't reciprocated. You know guys just because a person is in the same room with someone does not mean they like them. Ranka called Alto came running (Like he always does) You don't see the connection? *Wow! OD is wading knee deep in user-denial*
That's it I am going to show you guys his relationship with the two. All the behavior every thing. The whole she-bang... Then you will undoubtedly be upset but you shouldn't. No matter how much I giggle my ass of. It's harmless and just ignore me. At least you will see the truth of the situation. Remember it's not shipping just telling it like it is. Can we rip each other's hearts reasonably and leave our beef in forum, not let it boil over to other forums. It's getting on my nerves... Let's have an intense but great but civil debate? This is the last time I warn you. I have to make you accept a lot of scenes you guys have deleted from memory... |

OD: A few of us are beginning to suspect Brera isn't actually Ranka's blood-related brother. He or she may be adopted, we're not sure, but the Brera=Brother hint was laid on us back in Episode 10, I won't be surprised if Kawamori trolled us with that one too.
The Alto-Ranka scene is basically a rejection/resignation scene. Look out for the subs to know more. Last edited by cheesie; 2008-08-28 at 15:41. Reason: Worded for clarity |

its a bleach fan watching macross frontier, ofc his analysis of sheryl the great one is off.
i kid i kid I think if kawamori had put a bit more thought into this ep, it wouldve shined. i doubt he'd rickroll us with brera, cause its been layed down so many times that he is rankas big brother figure. |

With Ranka's memories partly having come back, enough for her to remember some critical things it seems, events are now moving to the final stage. Given how Ai-kun was acting around Ranka, I suspect we're heading for a "Vajra are really a bunch of softies unless you annoy them" kind of end - and that Ranka's little journey will be key to that. Also looks like we're going to have some critical revelations next episode.
Meanwhile, Ranka sure seems to trust Brera. Has she remembered he's her brother? (Or kinda of feels it?) She obviously wanted to go with Alto, but he's far from ready to sing kumbaya with the Vajra. At least we got to hear a bit more about why Alto wants to fly. I'm not entirely sure why Ranka doesn't want to sing again - going so far as to tell everyone. She certainly doesn't like being used (as she said previously, she doesn't want to be a tool), but she seems to have major trouble singing when depressed. If it's because she realised she only wants to sing for Alto, that's a kind of odd reason. She certainly doesn't enjoy having all the pressure forced upon her. On the Sheryl side of things, she was surprised at Ranka saying she's not going to sing anymore. And she also felt Ranka singing, through her earring, earlier in the ep. If she can receive, surely she can transmit. I wonder if Grace will suddenly turn up (she was oddly quiet this ep) and explain things, or if Sheryl will figure things out with some help from Alto (who already noticed the crystal type) and Luca. Can't imagine Sheryl wanting any help from Grace of course, but she may not have much alternatives, depending on how fast the episode moves. |

Ah, magnuskn, not quite... it's a shame you left earlier as we're given translations of the scene as we speak and the meaning behind it. It's really not as "bad" as it looks. Or rather, it was definitely more than just a confession scene.
