Oh yeah I forgot to mention that the music and the whole scene with the video recording and the group travelling to where the 7 kings fought the Chrome Disaster was awesome. This OST is up there with the best of them this season and has a ton of variety.

Might not be a bad thing. I mean, we might all actually HAVE played Brain Burst, and lost! I don't feel any worse off.

You just lost the game.
Where did you read this? Has it ever been mentioned in the anime because I haven't seen it mentioned yet in the anime plus this info won't show up until the end of the show which is vol 4.

Also while looking for clips from the OST (is that out yet btw?) I came across this strange oddity, not sure if this has been linked yet but:

I thought it was pretty amusing that the bickering girls ended up sleeping together on the couch, clinging to each other, with slight smiles.

I know it's probably been said before, but I kinda wish Haru had headed for the door just a little earlier. All prepared for shampoo bottles and other items to come flying, one thing never crosses his mind. He "stumbles" into the room, finding the fourteen- and eleven-year-old girls wearing nothing at all... except their linkers. Before he can apologize, he hears them shout "Burst Link!" I imagine he's not the only one who can break the pain dampers...

Also, when Taku said he and Chiyu wouldn't get all lovey-dovey at school, I couldn't help but wonder whether they're really all that "lovey-dovey" AFTER school. I mean, it's not all that easy for a girl to give up on her first love, even if she's going out with another guy, and I wouldn't be surprised if she still thinks of Haru a lot when she's with Taku. And I imagine if she saw Haru kiss Hime, no matter how much she's used to the idea of them as a couple, there'd be some conflicted feelings welling up.

In the anime, someone who's been forcibly uninstalled does not remember what happened. Think it was 5 episodes back when KYH was explaining the rules of the game.

I for one don't recall her saying anything about a person actually forgetting about the program itself. It's just uninstalled and since it works against your brain patterns or something, you can't fool it into letting you install again.

Also, if I understood right, was the original CD eight years old!? Precocious. Most serial killers at least wait until they've hit puberty before going all-out bloodbath. On the other hand, a boy of seven or eight going overboard on a game and then getting mad when he's defeated and putting a predator like that online does make sense; and perhaps it's because he was so young and immature that he didn't realize that the killer app he put in there as payback would become a literal killer.

BTW, what happens to the possessed on the outside? Do they just never log out and berserk until they starve? Do they show the same bloodlust on the outside?

@Seiryuu: From what I've read, it appears it effects the person in Real Life, not just in the game. Which implies that the Brain Burst program can rewrite someones mind. Which if true, implies it could replicate hormonal responses in the brain. Which could explain what SQA and Thundrakkon pointed out: whatever technology they are using is replicating the hormone process, so they Brain Burst players literally are older mentally then they are physically.

It certainly meshes well with Chrome Disaster's story....

Oh, and hi to everyone! Long time lurker here.

Chiyu has never truly loved Taku in a romantic way. Also, I can't really think of Haru being her first love, but more like her first crush. Hence, although it hurts to see your crush with someone else, it is still easier to get over it.

I don't recall that either. I agree with what you stated.

It certainly meshes well with Chrome Falcon's story....

That's a really interesting point and perspective you have on the whole situation. Btw, welcome to the forums! That does explain a lot about the maturity levels of the players, when you put it that way. The Brain Burst program keeps on getting more and more powerful in how it affects a person. It truly is a holy grail program.

That just an idea though, I don't think that's ever stated outright, but it's interesting to think about. It's also bug-fuck scary, as it implies whatever technology they are using, could be used to essentially brainwash and control anyone and everyone who uses it, and you would never even know.

Imagine if the Brain Burst program had a hidden bit of code that turned all the players into slaves, with the entire game designed as a training program for the creators very own army. Hell, the ones who had the program uninstalled could be sleeper agents.

Actually, what really happened to the CD is darker. Let's just say he did not do those massacres just because on a whim or some sick fantasy.

Yes but it may cause sociological problems in future if it goes on.

We are heading into spoiler country now. Let's stop here.

Yeah, we're coming close to spoiler territory here... If anyone wants to know about CD's first owner, go to the LN thread. I've posted something there about this already, just ask and I can find the post.

Chiyu, Taku and Haru are close childhood friends so a little crush on your friend isn't new. So your maybe right that Chiyu had a crush on Haru and see Taku only as a friend. But I won't see Chiyu for loving Haru. Like maybe but the feeling is more like caring that actual loving. Because if she really love that guy. She won't stay silent for all the bullying Haru receive and even if Haru did say that he is fine and don't talk to Taku and such. That's just plain...... stupid -_- (sorry lost for words) and then she also got jealous or angry at KYH for solving the problem in one day while she didn't do anything.

You just lost the game.
Since I just answer it accidentally, asking for confirmation and it's bother line spoiler but to be true to this account.
Spoiler:

Nico's way of talking doesn't look like someone from grade 5 elementary. Which is probably 9-10 years old? or 10-11?

The way brain burst works really tweaks the brain of the user. For pure speculation only. Shutting memory down.

KYH acts mature for a 14 years old and Nico has a 2 face personality. One a normal child while the other is a derange Beato face. By normal experience a youth shouldn't have that kind of mentality by that age. Though certain stimuli might invoke it or being exposed on the environment that allows such development. Though overall if your just at home or at school. The chances of Nico turning into that kind of character. Normally won't happen. AW in some ways still cling into partly realism in their characters. Heck they act sure real for me. Some of them. And even Taku's way of changing in perspectives. Like why he turn into 4 eyes. The reason behind that isn't because it looks cool and smart but because he starts reading and taking his way of life more into manual. He tried to not rely much on the neuro linker. His reading in manual books where you can just access it in neuro linker where your eye won't get damage. Haru's reaction is normal for me except for his easily trusting reaction on how Taku rephrase what will happen if Haru didn't find out who Nico really is. But knowing him gets bullied before will make sense of it.

The others act at least real to me but the king or nico isn't. They are just odd for their age. Like how KYH is so stubborn at hiding her name that she would hack the database and create a fake ID. KYH has mad hacking skills and Nico too. Or maybe all kings learn a thing or two with their long experience.

While the story behind CD is a spoiler and is not like that at all, I must ask, do you mean literal serial killer?

That's like saying a guy who gets his kicks PvP slaughtering is a serial killer no?

Now if you mean as side effect from the game screwing people's brains over, well....even that hasn't been fully deeply explored so any speculation is as good as any. The theory that BB is a military program could very well be true...After all at the end of the day, the Neurolinker is something that interfaces directly into your brain

I was exaggerating a little. However, the level of rampage is severe, and the immersion is many times deeper than any normal game. Still, if you read the second half of my statement you'd notice I also suggested that he was just a kid who was going overboard with the in-game carnage because he figures a character's death in the game doesn't mean anything.
