Nagisa...D:

Amusing episode.

Obviously, there's also something going on with the principal from the background. There were so many close calls for Nagisa this episode though lmao

It's fairly clear from the low number of threads on 2channel and the larger proportion of negative comments, that this show is not popular with Japanese otaku. Of course, I often disagree with otaku taste, but they are the ones buying, so if they don't buy (at least in the case of a show aimed at guys), the show doesn't sell. That saddens me, since I think this is a good show, and found the manga too ugly to enjoy. But everyone gets to have their own taste. I disagree with Izumo's opinion of the show, but not with his facts and logic about sales. We'll see if things change a bit as time goes on.

Ep4 was well-constructed, funny and a bit touching. For what was basically one joke, the episode flowed well and was over before I expected. And I enjoy the voices.

To be honest I'm really not surprised that this show is lacking in popularity. There just doesn't seem to be anything gripping about it. The characters are ok, but kind of uninteresting, visually it's average at best, and it's a pretty standard harem just with the MC having issues with hiding secrets. I'm not sure what people could get attached to with this show. It seems like the standard of a forgettable series.

The girls are adorable. Sure there're lots of adorable girls in anime, but so what? These are adorable too. And I'm not used to seeing a 4-inch-tall harem member: I don't know how often that comes up, but I think it adds some interest.

But hey, I've never been able to understand the taste of Japanese otaku anyway. Sometimes they like what I like, but a fair number of times the crowd seems to flow in a completely different direction from anything I'd consider proper taste.

Laughed a decent amount this episode.
Especially how aizawa as the figurine kept making reactions when she wasn't suppose to during the whole time.

Being honest, the majority of viewers(japan an manga reader from other countries) comes from the manga, and they(me included) wants those weird/expressions faces being animated at their best. Plus, the not so good(though in a way decent in this adaption) rearranging and skips doesnt help either.

Even with all of this I would like to see a proper second season just for some special chapters being animated.

Poor Nagisa, I really felt for her in this episode, which I found more hilarious than the manga chapter it was based on. Sometimes I find the anime adds things that the manga tends to omit (how Mikan's fatal weakness is Ahasi not resisting her, I don't think that was explained in the manga).

As for the episode, Nagisa really nailed it, especially her misconstruing what Ahasi and Youko were talking about, which led to her whole breaking down in the bathroom. And we got a sneek peak of the principal in this chapter, nice. Me likes.

Actually that kinda got forgotten after episode 1. He was supposed to be this complete failure at keeping secrets but now he seems to be faring pretty well. Even under pressure of someone like Mikan he still didn't let anything out. This last episode was him lying through his teeth beginning to end, AND managing to get away with it. That's some pretty good secret-keeping ability right there. Though it probably helps the truth is so unbelievable it would never occur to anyone without it smacking them right in their nose .

As for what people (including me) likes about this show... meh, wouldn't know really. It's like you say, pretty average. I guess it feels like a decent time waster. It mostly has that quintessential anime feature: funny faces. Quite a bit of those. I have no doubt once it's over I'll just forget entirely about it.

Btw, shouldn't Mikan's glasses be aware of the truth?

And this is the whole problem. The anime just isn't living up to the quality of the manga. It has so far almost completely failed to replicate either the manga's hilarious art style or brilliant comedic timing. That's why I'm so disappointed with it. And the sad thing is that many elements of this adaptation are pretty good, but it's all hamstrung by the poor direction.

The god of (mis)fortune isn't that helpful. If they nail that episode correctly, it should be great.

And I think they're going to get Akane right. Voice work seems to be in that right spot. For as much as she's only been slightly introduced in ep 4, Akane will make or break the series. Too much of the manga works because of her.

Plus, they better animate the "Cake is not a lie" chapter. I hurt myself laughing at that the first time I read it.

Mao Ichimichi is a great VA and I have full faith in her ability to do Akane justice. For all my complaints about the show, I think the VA work has been top-notch.

I've finally had a chance to marathon through this series and catch up. It's definitely a fun series, and I enjoy it a lot.

This show is actually entertaining, if not a lot of standard fare. However, it has me smiling and laughing so often that I feel that it is doing a great job. I don't follow hype nor know about a series before I watch it. I judge shows essentially from what is shown in the anime, and I think this show is executing a lot of things really well.

It's definitely much better in story and execution than the other harem animes this season that I've seen so far, Monster Musume and Kusen Madoshi. If people don't like it, then it is because they have preset standards that the anime is not accomplishing for them. This anime is definitely a keeper for me this season, and I've actually had to cut down on a lot of shows. The series is entertaining for sure.

Didn't know what you even expected from Kusen Madoshi, since it screams generic from its premise and characters.

There is no expectation when I come into a new series. As I said, I don't know anything about any series before I watch it, unless it is a sequel or a franchise. I judge shows based on what I see, which will often conflict with people who have certain expectations before a show airs.

There is always potential for shows like Kusen Madoshi to be entertaining, but that depends on execution and story. A show such as Overlord is not something new, but it is so entertaining and interesting, as well as GATE. So far, Jitsu wa Watashi wa has shown to be entertaining in its execution, even if it is not new in a lot of its themes.

TBH it reminds me a lot of My Bride is a Mermaid in flavour. Theirs certainly always going to time in my Anime time for silly romantic comedies based around outrages supernatural premises

Jitsu better than Monster Musume adaptation? seriously, your standards are really wrong.

First of all, Jitsu isn't following the main source rushing chapters of the manga and changing the order which is terrible for the adaptation. The VA's are right just for 50% of the characters, dumpire voice is terrible for example. The backgounds are poorly made and the character design is awful, don't forget about the QUALITY too. I don't know how you can like one of the worst adaptations of the season.

On the other hand as other user said before Kusen madoshi is just generic as hell and that means isn't something good. Monster Musume is a whole different thing because the studio follows a certain pattern in the animation and staying true to the original source without changing it at all (2 chapters per episode, panel by panel), the VA's work is a 10/10 from the MC to the girls and the animation is on the top this season. The special thing with Monster Musume is this isn't just a generic harem because the girls and the MC have their own personalities and problems which is something you can't find on other series.

People don't like this adaptation because is terrible, that's a fact noticed for most of the people specially from Japanese viewers.
