I never expect Bleach will finally show us Yama-jii's bankai... I almost lose hope since Aizen's arc ended... ^^

From Bach's reaction he had never seen it before, I don't know if he'd know how to use it.

With the ones that were stolen, they had some sort of notebook or memo about the bankais that were taken.

His bankai is literally called "Longsword of the Remaining Flame."

My guess would be it condenses all of Ryujinjakka's power into one flame.

Actually, I'd expect quite the opposite. Like with Soifon.

Shikai being large scale AoE, and Bankai being something... different, to cover for Shikai's "weakness". (like in case of Yamamoto, when fighting someone as strong as Jucha he'll probably need to concentrate his power into one spot, not spreading it around)

From the flames vanishing, I'm guessing Yamaji's Bankai is the same as Ichigo's - i.e it compresses all the power in the sword and the bearer. If this turns out to be true and his Bankai doesn't get stolen then we have a pretty good explanation why they couldn't steal Ichigo's Bankai either. That would mean that for them to steal someone's bankai, the Bankai needs to manifest itself physically.

Btw, that symbol on his sword. Why does it so closely resembles their bankai stealing devices (496/14)?
It's practically a copy, with additional star in the middle and 5 smaller rays coming out of it.

I would like that very much! But this means Yamamoto either didn't use Bankai the last time he fought Bach, or this Bankai developed further hmmm, I want more flashbacks

I think that can be a eternal flame.
Despite Yama will lose (hey or what Ichigo will do ?), the flame he will use will continue to "devorate" this guy, on this body and in his spirit.

not sure if should be happy to see old guys bankai, cause him bringing it out at this point can only mean he gonna lose it? Oh well, we shall see, at the least there shall be a brief moment of epicness next week - unless we cut to Ichigo mindlessly beating on the cage for 18 pages

Sorry, I just wish that Kubo would actually use the characters that can fight these people off and not just waste them. I know that Ichigo is going to have to save the day, eventually, but come on. This will be a waste of a chapter if all he does is 'showcase' Yama's bankai then quickly cliffhang the story, with a shot at the bad guy (on the verge of death of course) says, "Oh wait, I can take your bankai!" Cue shock face of Yama. Next chapter no bankai and gets shit kicked out of him. Cue maniacal laughter, "Now I truly have the power to destroy Ichigo Kurosaki!" ...Well, so much for that moral!

To me, it seems as if Kubo feels pressured into showcasing more bankais now, ever since the butterflizen debacle. Perhaps when Aizen gets his 'Get Out of Jail Free' card, we might see his as well (if he is even released from prison). Though I'd like to see Urahara's more, and I have a feeling, thought, that that will never happen. Here's to hoping.

It was kinda surprising that, of all people, yama released his Bankai now. I really didn't expect this, though with it happening so soon, I don't exactly expect alot of ass-kicking either. :/

maybe he deduced from his fight with Driscoll that even if the Bankai is controlled by a Sternritter, it would not be as powerful as it was used by the original Shinigami.

so he is confident that even if his Bankai maybe stolen, it would be weak.

no bankai has had the right timing and mood to appear since ichigo's.....

am i the only one whose disappointed that there had to be another 3 sternritters get fried just like that especially since i had interest in AS NODT....

sternritter death count - 7
shinigami death count - 1 captain(tentative) 1 Vice captain, i assume rose is defeated too since nanana appeared to backstab yamajii..... + thousands of random shinigamis
