I haven't read the manga but I am pretty sure it was almost all anime original stuff except maybe the cherry scene, and hike are two parts of it that I could see being possibly taken from the manga at all. The other stuff feels too different from normal lucky star flow to have been in the manga.

Actually.... none of the OVA comes from the manga (I have all the volumes). The only connection at all is that one single 4-koma strip establishes Cherry's dislike of our hentai-drawing girl. Nanako and Konata are the only ones ever shown playing some unnamed MMO. No one is ever shown playing volleyball. Kagami never has explicit dreams about Konata...

Not knocking the OVA... but yeah, all anime-only.

At one point Misao mentions that her club is put on hiatus. Which makes me wonder, has it ever been mentioned what clubs any of the students are members of?

Most of the students seem to belong to the "afterschool walking home" club - i.e. no club at all. Kind of expected for Konata but odd for Kagami, Tsukasa, and Miyuki considering the importance of club life at high school.
It may verify that none of the foursome are particularly mainstream and that's one reason they hang out whether or not they admit it.

What a coincidence, the info pages on the cast in vol 4 has the exact answer:

Track & Field club: Misao
Tea club: Ayano
Animation Research club: Hiyori, Kou (with Konata noting that maybe she should've joined)

None: Konata, Kagami, Tsukasa, Miyuki, Yutaka, Minami, Patricia.

We've probably gotten this one a lot, but do you think there'll be any more LS anime?

My guess is probably not, since they were near the end of high school and the OAV kinda tied up what loose ends there were. But even so, the manga apparently shows no signs of ending...

With there being more manga material it's is possible for a second season to happen, but that completely depends on Kyoani's plans for it I suppose.

So I can hope/pray foolishly at least the very least for it .

I suspect they sense a lot more money to mine out of K-On! (with the music CDs and extensive figurine possibilities) than with Lucky*Star. Interestingly they haven't forgotten L*S completely (e.g. the new Misao figure, the swimsuit Kagami/Konata due out this summer) so its not impossible we'd see at least another set of OVAs down the road.

The other thing to consider is that with K-On!!, they'd be out of stuff to mine. But with Lucky Star, they still have some stuff to work with from the 4komas.

Aye, there's 4ish volumes of L*S material, whereas K-On! is rapidly emptying the "available source". If it wasn't for the participation of the mangaka in the script writing, I'd start worrying more about K-On!!'s season length.

I like both franchises (and the Haruhi franchise as well) - its just unfortunate that they're both under a studio that rarely handles more than one or two series a season -- and people are still spinning in their chairs for Full Metal Panic as well.

Well, they do have a reputation for high quality and painstaking detail to uphold...of course, after Endless Eight, they almost have to rebuild it. :P

I hope L*S will get a highly anticipated second season.

I'd like to see Konata cry for the outlandish delay of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Yup. The manga is at Volume 7 and still going.

As for a second anime season, KyoAni will be focusing on Nichijou next year, so I don't think there'll be one in the near future. I still hope for a miracle, though. ^^
