Yes Hirano is badass with a gun, yes he stood up to Shido on the bus, but take away his guns, and what has he done yet? Once his guns go 'click' he becomes helpless(as of episode 7 this will probably change as the story goes on).

That's the reason why Takashi has the plot armor. The 2ndary characters has limitations while the hero is overall versatile on all fields. Love interest, fighting, using long range weapons guns, first to have interaction with the girls and can go through hordes of zombies.
Which makes Hirano the underdog badass which with his limitations we cheer more for him to succeed and probably later on he'll probably teach the guys how to use guns as we see in the room before Shizuka almost had sex with them, he was talking about guns to Takashi.

Still Rei is older.

looks like they changed it from the manga. they changed so takashi and saeko got separated with the group early so they can have their moment at the shrine before they wind up at takagi's house instead of the mall.

And I am ever so grateful to Madhouse for doing so. That chapter is the absolute pinnacle of Saeko goodness, and considering Madhouse is going overboard with the fanservice, you know we'll be getting tons of delicious scenes

Very little development for 20 minutes...
The only thing good(?) in the episode was the hilarious scene where Takashi decides to shoot beside Rei's breasts and Busujima going matrix (or whatever you call that) on the bullets.

Next time is that chapter, it seems. It seems that the chapter has been moved around a bit? Not that I would remember...

really? i contest that on several grounds.

yes MC's get out of otherwise unavoidable situations seemingly certain death when they shouldn't but i have seen plenty of MC's that take a F***king BEATING while doing it,

for example, anything Jim Butcher does, poor harry Dresden has been, shot, burned, crushed, and cut almost to many times to count and been in the Verge of death several times in the 12 books of the "Dresden files"

his Codex Alera series is just as bad, maybe worse as we see the story from 5 different characters POV's and all of them get hurt pretty bad somewhere along the line,

there are others like Buso renkin. and ruronui kenshin... so sure they may Survive many situations most MC's don't come out unscathed, which coming out unscathed is the point of armor no?

So why the hell couldn't they have just jumped from the Humvee to get to the other side of the wire? Last episode was epic since it had a bit of everything in it.

Episode 8 got me OMG OMGOMG all throughout the episode!!!! Great move by Madhouse for episode 9.

Yet as Kina said, it got me worried that they are going to finish this series with an alternate ending at episode 12 rather than keep going with the manga.
