They'll probably keep enough eyeballs based on the moe-moe Mikasa shot, though. Right! but even me from episode 3 when I look Mikasa with Eren or speaking of Eren I feel a sense of romance from Mikasa ... and honestly anyone can see that Mikasa "Love" Eren and not as a member of his family but more than that ... or worse is that Mikasa did not even realize in itself!

They met when they were 10 or so. It's too late for the Westermarck effect.

Mikasa blushing was cute. Too bad it's shaping up to be an Eren x Armin ending...

Come on, what are these guys thinking with these last few episodes? We should really be done this bit by now.
I think it's pretty clear for those that read the manga why we are getting more Jean screentime.

So... The Battle of Trost will last like 12-13 episodes? I've never seen a single battle last so long in an anime.

The thing is Mikasa is right in the middle of a huge epic battle for the survival of humanity. Not much time to sort out her feelings for Eren.

The Trost arc will end by 13, if that's what you misread. Then 14 will be a recap and then we'll head into deeper waters with the next arc.

I actually just got into this show with this episode. It's really difficult to watch anime in my current situation, but I'll do the best I can. no way I can sacrifice my anime habit while in the peace corps. Anyway I enjoyed this episode. and I am interested in what happens in the next arc. Will we learn more of the motives of the titans? Is there a world outside the walls? All of it is a mystery to me.

I regret reading the manga. It makes it seem like the show is moving at a snail's pace. Whether it is or not I really can't say.

Is the slow pacing issue only a problem for manga readers?

I didn't know that part was filler, but I saw no problem with it especially since he's been growing on me quite a bit. If anything that's how I like filler to be done. It was very believable situation that didn't break Jean's current characterization and I'm looking forward to how he escapes and impact on his development (if any). I don't really care if was stretching the content here or not. I guess that's the perk of being a non-manga reader. lol

You forgetting that battle is happening in real-time, no more than half a day has probably pass since it began.

I kind of agree, but she might have had those feelings before the military and Trost. That said, I feel her reaction is more ambiguous and can be interpreted anyway one likes.

Looking at some forums and here it's seems that it is more of a individualized issue rather than one ascribing to any particular group. It's pretty much: some are fine with it and some aren't in both camps. Regardless as I said, I think the pacing is done on purpose here, most likely because the studio wants end at ep 13. I think we will return to a more consistent pacing of earlier weeks after the break.

The last bits of this arc aren't really bad and I suspect other viewers would enjoy it more if those episodes were marathoned due to the pacing.

Iron, why do you keep calling it “filter”? It’s called filler because it is made to fill the void of the plot. “filter” and “filler” are two words with huge difference in meaning. You keep misusing the term like a person who’s confused when to use the word “rider” and “raider” even though there’s a clear difference in meaning between the two.

I can't speak for others but I know for me it feels very slow because I have read the manga. I mean when I think about all that is left to come and how long it has taken them to get where they are......yikes, how many seasons is this thing confirmed for again??

I've read the manga. I think it's kinda slow at times but far from unbearable. I don't even mind the Jean filler.

Pretty much how I feel, the only episode that dragged to me was episode.. 9 I think but that was just because to me that part had little rewatch value, and that's one episode out of 12.

I think it's an anxiousness to get past even where the manga is. I'm petty much dying to know what is going on and get the real details of the Titans and everything.
