1) Kira Yamato (19,276 votes) - SEED DESTINY
4) Athrun Zala (7,281 votes) - SEED DESTINY
7) Yzak Joule (821 votes) - SEED DESTINY
9) Shinn Asuka (233 votes) - SEED DESTINY
11) Mu La Flaga - SEED DESTINY
26) Andy - SEED DESTINY
30) Rey Za Barrel - SEED DESTINY
Wow, Kira sure is popular. No wonder why ppl are crazy over him.
Man, Athrun is only fourth. He deserves second but SEED-D ruined him. Hope he will lead SEED3.
Yzak is seventh. Horay despite his cameos he is still top 10.
Shinn was knuckle head in SEED-D. No wonder, Hope SEED3 will boost him as good main side kick.
Suprisingly Rey is only 30th. I liked hin alot though. Mu and Andy I hope they fall from list so they will retire in SEED3.

20) Talia - SEED DESTINY
21) Meer Campbell - SEED DESTINY
24) Flay Aster - SEED
27) Shiho (who is this?) - SEED DESTINY
Yay Lacus-chan is da numba one.
Hewh despite her slutness, according to some members and ppl, Lunamaria managed to be numba 3. I am glad because I thought she will be on the bottom like Shinn. Darn thanks to SEED-D, Cagalli-chan is olny number 4, she deserves #2 spot.
Hahaha man poor Steller-chan she has only 272 votes.
I cant believe Meyrin is not on top 10, she deserves number 6.
Murrue and Taila is on the bottom, drop from the list so younger generation can overtake.
Meer. k this is what duplicates get withou any development.
Wow, despite her long death she is still on the list.
Shiho Henenfuss, what a wonderful thing for her to be on the chart despite her cameos.

Top 30 MS from April 2006 Gundam Ace:
1) Strike Freedom Gundam (12,123 votes) - SEED DESTINY
3) Akatsuki (9,182 votes) - SEED DESTINY

Hehe, Kira is more popular than the machine, well SF is bit bulky.
Akatsuki, no this Gundam is too Shiny and ugly.
Freedom still going strong.
No way IJ is only 9th, bumer it deserves top 5.
Destiny and Legend was bit ugly to I guess this is still da bomb.

Both Animedia and Animaga only have one ranking for all anime characters.

Kira is No. 1 in every class he is applicable, followed by Lacus in most of them....this alone shows how ridiculous these rankings are...but even if they're ridiculous, it's infuriating to see crap like this publicized and sold as "official"...Kira and Lacus are just so incredibly one-dimensional in GSD...literally boring to watch..."I'm unbeatable," I'm never wrong"...that is all you need to know to know what those two are all about...Shana, Train, Toushiro, Rukia, Saber, Ed, Spike, Sakura, Eve, Riza, Ichigo...all these characters all far, far, far, better than the "dynamic duo" that holds its tyrannical fist above these polls...and those are just the characters who are better than Kira and Lacus, out of the shows I've seen...I am horrified by the one-dimensionality of these polls...it's really hard to enjoy this crap...the only reason I keep reading it is out of hope that they'll actually become good, and that's not lookign like it'll happen anytime soon...

And out of all anime?! Oh, COME ON!!!

It's not sweet at all. It shows that the fans are morons who enjoy style over substance.

Sure, some style is nice together with substance, but I just can't fathom as to how anyone can like Kira and Lacus in GSD when one likes their characters in GS.

There's no need to call people morons just because they like somethings that you don't like, srb. You're being irrational over a popularity contest of some fictional characters. This has little to do with substance, rather it has a lot to do with presentation, which includes style. And really, it's not like Kira and Lacus has no substance at all.

As for why someone who likes Kira in GS should like him in GSD, it's because he doesn't contradict his GS self. Sure, he doesn't develop as much in GSD, but he's basically the same person as he was in GS. So if some people like him in GS, why shouldn't they like him still?

To make myself clear, I wasn't referring to the forum members, merely the ones who partake in the magazine polls.

In GS he was interesting, dynamic and developing. In GSD he's uninteresting and static.

I agree with srb. And Kira and Lacus are just such....ugh...they're just not good characters in GSD. (over-simplification) >.> And nowhere near as good as many of the character ranked "lower" than them. >.>

Yes, I know.

It doesn't mean people can't still like him. He's static but the story is not about him like it was in GS.

Well let me point out that a lot of people liked Kira and Lacus in GS. The fact that they sucked in GSD is not going to make all of their fans, of which they have many, suddenly start saying "O hay, I hate Kira now." I would say most of their popularity stems from GS, the fact that they sucked in Destiny really plays no role in this. Gundam has a huge fanbase, probably bigger than any other show ranked in a poll like that save for maybe Naruto. It's not surprising that GSD is dominating.

Let me note that those polls are not "Who's the most dynamic/interesting/deep/etc character?" It's a poll on favorite character. Kira's and Lacus's static personalities are a nonfactor, it's simply how much the fans like them.

yes we all have our different tastes but i admit kira in GSD wasnt that great but i would still vote for him for the simple reason that i'm a fan of kira

if you play onimusha 4 something very similar happen there even thought the main character of the previous one is there they hardly talk anything about him cause in the end his not the main character anymore yet people would pick samanosuke over the new main character "soki"

its like kira and shinn people will end up voting for kira over shinn

Actually, the Newtype and Animage polls posted above by Boredandsleepy pretty much are about the most dynamic/deep/interesting character. It's not "Favorite" character, it's "best" character, in other words who is actually better not just who is your favorite. And I'm sorry, but Spike or Ed alone are each far better than Kira, and then you get to all the other characters who overwhelm Kira and Lacus. >.> Plus, people voted for Kira and Lacus from GSD. Unless the polls automatically assumed they meant GSD, then the fans were voting for the more horrible versions of Kira and Lacus. >.> Please God, let the horror end...

And actually, GSD pretty much did make Kira the focus of the series towards the end. >.>

And I certainly changed my view from "Kira rox!" in GSEED to "Kira sux!" after seeing him in GSD. >.>

So when voting for best anime character, I wish the fans in Japan would execute beter judgement. GO ahead and vote for the shallow horrible character you love for "favorite" characters, but not for "best", please...
