What if Infinite Stratos wasn't its real name, and Tabane just called them such from the word "is" to I's to IS.

One day, an international expo on IS was being held in a neutral city. As the festivities are entering their highest point, an explosion occurs and a huge barrier is erected spanning miles in radius. All the IS cores begin to resonate and the personal pilots themselves are especially sensitive to this. The cores begin to evolve at a much faster rate than normal and their natural instinct awakens "become one". Some cores go crazy and assimilate everything nearby, turning them into material for their own evolution. Locked inside the sphere of energy, a war begins to gather every single IS core in existence. For the revival of the single entity.

No matter who wins, they all lose.

My breathing is erratic, and I could feel my lungs burning working beyond its usual limit. In a split second, my hand raised to intercept an attack, and deliver a counter hit in response. Full contact sparring lasting for another one and half minute. We’re exchanging blow, none filled with fierce intent, but neither are done half-heartedly. This is a battle of survival, especially, my own survival. The opponent has been changed again, this time, it wasn’t another kid, but more experienced adult. Even though our height is not much different, my body had yet to be matured, and overshadowed in experience. Each time I fought an opponent like this, I had to press myself to deliver extra effort. As my body had given up long ago, it’s running in pure adrenaline of now. I can’t even hear the sound, except for the occasional whisper and my own heartbeat. My vision looks like something out of a dream, everything is blurry, and moving slowly. After a series of attrition battle, my fist made a contact at the last. And my opponents straighten their kata, before delivering a gesture of honor. My vision has slowly returned to normal, so are my hearing, it was silent, but at the very least. Unusual for it, certain spiky haired Japanese boy didn’t take the chance to mess around with girls; instead, he busied himself with the desktop compact PC built within the table. “With this variable, Nghhh~” Not that anyone complaining either way. But a few of them is curious. Ever since the first day, he’s been a pervert, and has no shame about it. However, putting that aside, he’s really a social person that, if not doing his usual antics, is friendly and likable. As such, it’s hard for the girls to hate him outright. “Saruyama-kun, what are you doing?” He didn’t reply. Yet another side of him appeared. Eyes moving rapidly following the letters and numbers shown on the slim monitor, fingers remain busy with the keyboard. Sometimes, he stopped and taking a deep breath, or just cursing under an unintelligible murmur. Some of the girls poke at him on the back, he still didn’t respond.
