If you read this thread, you'd see there was general agreement the show improved after it moved on from its "monster-of-the-week" format in the early going. I'd still give it a C+ or at best a B- and that largely because of the witty, well-acted characterizations of the mains.

One more thing to clarify, I'm confused on Yukiko on whether her father was an ex-PM or an ex-Superintendent General in the TMPD since I saw the latter in the Japanese wiki? If someone can clarify, thanks a bunch.

The manga IMO does that.

The anime, however, does reference one of the novel titles in the first episode.

Someone was able to get the DVD specials on the net somewhere.

Saw it and I enjoyed Ryoko/Izumida making commentaries, having the infamous near kiss scene blamed on SFX.

The other special was Nabatame's thoughts on going to Osaka and Nagoya to promote the show in 08-09. She also did an interview with Tanaka-sensei.
