Okay kids, it's time for another episode of Coming Back to Bite Them In The Ass:
-First up we've got Shun, the subtle rebel and the guy who uses the unorthodox to win primitive Defense of the Ancients. As long as he doesn't go "Let's go fuck the Establishment up, desu ne~?" as supported by his performance, he'll be fine. Potential: 2/5 Grimdarks (Borderline Heresy) -Next up we've got Little Miss Bleeding Heart Saki, who exposes her powers to the kobolds and the gang. They'll tell the other rats and shit will go down from there. Potential: 5/5 Grimdarks (Holy Shit Kid, You're Fucked) Next week, it's It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown. Except Snoopy has transformed from a beagle into some yellow dog-like thing and is going to feast on children. Last edited by Theo; 2012-10-07 at 03:14. |

Well the mystery deepens and with Saki's closing words at the end of this episode it makes me wonder what Maria had done to make her say that untold numbers of could have been spared if she hadn't been born?
Also I'm still on the fence about Shun and his possible future. I know some people are thinking he's the subtle rebel but will he be the good kind of rebel that wants positive change or the bad kind that wants to take over? As for the preview I don't know what to make of the next episode so we'll have to wait and see.

I just watched ep 2, and thanks to it now I appreciate ep 1 better... anyway, I really like this show so far. The setting is very nice, there's a lot of potential in it, and the writers/directors are doing a great job creating and maintaining tension. For now I'm not going to speculate (we know too little), but in any case I hope the Big Reveal is not going to be something banal.

The scene of the stamps are the names of the kids who have disappeared. I think one of the translation has the stamp as saying "disappeared", while what was being stamp was the names.

I have to say, the second episode was much better than the first one. I found myself entertained until the very end and the ending song is great as well. I was thinking about dropping the series because I found the first episode very boring, but this episode made up for it and I'll be following from now on.
Now, about the plot, I think the school get rid of children they consider to be problematic, like the boy who cheated in the game and Reiko, who was pretty weak.

Yes, it definitely seems that way, and the method they use seems to be with the cat. So the question becomes, "what is that cat?" Is it some sort of enforcer? Is it the emperor in disguise? Or is it something expels the kids?

Don't know what to think about this series.
Watched the 2 eps avaible. My opinion however drifts from one side to another. This anime is really good but at the same time really shitty. Mystery parts are all nice and you know that some heavy shit happened, to make the world go crazy as this. However at the same time some parts just make me really not want to watch this anymore. Halfway first ep I wanted to just delete it, but then it got better but still have some problems I can't point out. Frankly I don't know, will watch another 2-3 eps and choose if I will follow it or not. The whole MC talking about her past and the whole story is kinda hard to pinpoint about what is good and what is bad.

2nd ep got me even more interested in the story. That opening scene was crazy. Agree that Shun seems to be different. Those last lines about Maria are even more creepy.

This second episode kept being interesting, I'm liking the show even if it's still missing something to get me really hooked. Anyways I really like the setting and the mystery.
Talking about Shun if I have to guess I have the feelings that he will betray his friends. Just to crush the MC feelings, sort of. But it's too early to speculate. But when they went to save that jawa, the strange talking animal, I thought, oh god, so that it is the end people who disappear will get, poor Reiko

Was anyone else struck by how the "karma demon" story Shun was reading apparently took place just 180 years ago? With all the talk of Nineteen Eighty-Four and memory manipulation, I can't help but think (a) that 180 years sounds rather recent for a myth, and (b) that this is a nod to how quickly their society seems to "forget" things.
Also, Reiko = "zero child". No wonder she was the first to disappear. |

Gets named emperor of delight
Proceeds to kill people while laughing maniacally Dat doublespeak I think they're using the opening sequences to show us how the world evolved from modern day japan to what it is during Saki's time. 500 years is a big jump though. Present day Japan, telekinesis people going on murdering rampage. Maybe people were afraid and that's how insane people with telekinesis ended up being emperors? Clap or die, not much a choice The rat thingies were pretty strange. Definitively out of the scope of what I would expect telekinesis power to be able to do. Looks like genetic manipulation. The rats looked really afraid, like they were expecting punishment for making the mistake of falling into the river. One was like "Please don't punish me, I won't do it again!" and the other one was like "Please don't hurt my bro, he just made a mistake!" The rest of the episode was more mundane. Weird telekinesis competition. Kids disappearing. No new info there. |

This cracked me up.
You're onto something though. For some reason UTW chose a pretty unreadable font for the bakenezumi's lines, but they actually said a few things: Quote:
So basically they think the humans that can use telekinesis are Gods. And yeah, they seem to be very afraid of them.
