Well episode two introduced a Responsible Adult in the form of Hinata's dad which makes me wonder if we'll see more of him teaching the girls how to climb safely and sensibly like he showed them how to put up the tent.
I notice two of the sponsors are a tent company and a camping stove company so I reckon they're hoping to pick up some equipment sales! Second episode was great, and if it stays this good I think it'll be the best of the shorts that I've seen, but I can't help wondering if it would have worked better as an OVA, where it could flow. |

Partway through this episode, I opened up another tab and looked for real life photos of Mt. Tenran. The animators did a great job reproducing the scenery from the mountaintop. It made me think of some of the scenes in Tamayura. (Between this and Tamako Market, I'm getting a lot of Tamayura vibes lately. Feels good, man.) Nice to see Aoi starting to overcome her fears, too.

Damnit, why did this have to be so short? Everytime I'm starting to get into the episode, the ED credits pop up...
Anyway, this was sweet once again. Pretty easy mountain climbing for starters.

Frustrating ... wish this series had been given a full 22 minute treatment. -_-

I wasn't aware there are two more characters waiting to be introduced. Aoi and Hinata alone could have provided enough material for the whole season, in fact I felt having the story focus on such a small cast was the key to making it work given the format. I hope the inclusion of two other characters won't hinder their development.

You know, I like this series for what it is. What I really want to know is: will there be a full version to Staccato Days (the ED) and when the heck can I pick that up?

Yessiree bob ... this is another short series I enjoy quite a bit.
Really though ... I wonder why they did not give it a full 12 ep treatment? Weird. Ah well.

And there's our first new member of the cast. Kaede. It's a real step forward for Aoi that she was able to make friends with her without Hinata helping her along. And I learned a few things about sleeping bags, too. This series is actually making me kind of interested in climbing. But I live in a state that has no mountains at all, so that's out of the question.

hmm new member, so i guess this not just a pair show, but they're building a mountain climbing team? ( or is Aoi building a harem )
Kaede, tall, slim, cool megane girl, she does look cool posing at the mountain top there..

Another small step forward for Aoi, and she had Kaede's help in getting there. Though I'm not usually one for image macros, that shot of Aoi saying "Save me, internet!" has the potential to be used by a friend of mine. Mt. Takao it is!

Which leaves me wondering why they didn't wait with animating this till there was more available... And yes, this is one of two shorts (the other is 'Osaka Okan') I enjoy watching, despite my initial skepticism.

Basically one big ad for backpacks, but it was charming, and showed that Aoi and Hinata may be more alike than Aoi is starting to realize. Educational, too. I wonder if next week is the week they do their second climb. And when Kokona is going to show.
