Well perhaps to this day, Chrona has never had to kill/interact with a girl before.

Safely assuming that Chrona's an unstable child to begin with, it's not unusual for Chrona to be that confused when dealing with something new.

I guess the only way to answer this question is to have a steryotypical hot springs chapter/episode.

^ That's what I said. Unfortunately, a realized problem is that there are no hot springs in the U.S. (where the school is)

But fear not. Since Maka is Japanese on her mother's side, you can be sure that when she goes to visit her mom (who can be inferred to be living in Japan) there will be hot springs.

Wait, is Chrona a guy? I sort of thought Chrona was a girl all this time.

Well technically, you can believe that and you wouldn't be wrong...

Chrona is officially 'unknown'.

ep 8 confirms it CHRONA IS A GUY

At 4.40 Chrona addressed himself as Boku . Also there are several instances in the episode where Chrona has gone to address himself as Boku again.

Boku is said by Guys and Watashi is said by girls . They both mean I (Hana Kimi LvA fans will remember Mizuki initial goof up where she adresses herself as Watashi )

Only other explanation is Chrona itself is confused about its gender

If I remember correctly, Ayu from Kanon also used Boku, but she was definately a girl. So Chrona's gender could still technically be either.

Girls can say "boku" too. It's a common thing for extreme tomboys.

You see "boku" in songs a lot more than "(w)atashi" as well.

Anyway, "boku" is definitely a masculine pronoun, but it's used by girls commonly enough in anime/manga that's it's not really solid proof either way. Well, I guess we know that Chrona doesn't consider him/herself particularly feminine...

OR

Chrona considers itself as a kid : ) Chrona has that innocent way of looking things i.e. child trapped in a teenager's body

Isn't Chrona wearing a dress though? And in one of the later chapters during vol. 5 or 6, it sort of gave the impression Chrona was a girl since Ragnarok was trying to pull it up and Chrona seemed embarrassed by it.. Meh, maybe we'll never know.

I also though about that...but it still doesn't prove anything as guys can also get embarrassed when you pull up their...

I still think that Chrona is a very feminine guy :3
