If it's not love, then she definitely has some sort of obsession for him I'd say.

Nichijou Playbill - Night 17
"Yukko once met a girl with a wooden shoe named Smith." "What was the name of the other one?" Notice: For tonight's Shinonome Lab sketch, the role of Minoru Shiraishi has been replaced by Daisuke Ono. We are aware this isn't the first time this has happened, and consider it amusing. Fantasia for a House of Cards by the Nichijou Prefectural Orchestra "The Pitfalls of Love" starring Nakamura, Takasaki, Annaka, Nakanojo and Makoto Sakurai Yukko and Mai's Manzai Routine "Monster's Ballad" by Yukko, Mio and Mai A bit of an unorthodox episode, but I am glad that more and more anime are willing to experiment with unvoiced segments. It makes the animators work on their body language. All the plots intertwine. All the characters bounce off each other, in a way that never feels too forced. And crows have the voice of Lord Huey Disworth. If this is what they call "daily life", I am content. |

The house of cards scene was probably my favorite this episode. Unique twist with absolutely no dialogue and the scene told through the character actions and music. It's almost like something Disney would do.
It was funny seeing scarf-less Sakamoto again. The difference in pitch between his feline meows and actual human dialogue is quite amusing to compare. I also found it funny that a card with the 3 of spades has the voice of the master of the Santoryuu sword-style.

Though they should be hard at work on a movie, the K-On team Naoko Yamada and Yukiko Horiguchi still found the time to bring us an episode of Nichijou. It is too bad that they weren't given as much animation frames to work with since the animation quality is way down from the previous few weeks. They know this, and so decides to present a much more low-key episode.
Well, there is a very nice animation sequence at the end where Yukko reaches ecstasy after letting out her tsukkomi. Its pretty much a Mai episode today, so lots of trolling humor for those who gets off on it. I liked the silent segment, and how it really shows off Yuuji Nomi's whimsical orchestral flair. I do have to wonder, Nakamura sent a letter that's clearly addressed to Shinonome Nano, yet Nano did not turn up to that pit. Still upstairs freaking out over what looks like a love letter?

Episode 17 was weird. The feeling was completely off. By off I mean on how Nichijou usually feels. The thing is, it's one of the better ones yet. Nothing's gonna beat last episode's Mio wrestling but the card game came close. The no dialogue is so experimental and it was just heeps of fun.
Isn't it a bit weird that they're still in summer uniforms when it looks like it's getting colder? I think that's the off part. Or that the animation is a bit different.

I wonder if they are doing the animation too close to the manga, especially with the non-dialogue chapters. But i have to say it was well done, especially the background music.
And we finally get to see biscuit..., or biscuit No. 1 |

Holy fuck finally. Fuck yes finally. Its the return of Mai. She finally gets the screen time she hasn't been getting lately and boy was it awesome. Man, Yukko is lucky to have someone like Mai around ._.
Best part of the show for me apart from Yukko "calling out" Mai was when Mai put her glasses atop that house of cards without a shred of care. That was epic win lol. The crow was really awesome too. And so was the return of the battle of the "ehhhhhhhhhhhh???????". That igo soccer kid's a real player lol. And poor Mohawk boy ._. |
