It was a sad episode.
The first half focused on chiyo using her ninjutsu on gaara and gaara awakening. the second half was even more sad, as naruto had initially thought chiyo was just sleeping after using her incredible ninjutsu. but then it was revealed that she was dead. sad episode, animation seemed pretty good, and the music was great imo, very fitting. yay for new opening and closing themes. |

- The new opening and ending themes were rather pleasant and enjoyeable and had a lot more "oomph" put into them. I think this is the first time we have seen Orochimaru eat dirt in an opening by some mysterious black-fanged figure (as if I don't know who or what that is ). Sadly that's about all that can be praised about this episode since it drags on and on like a f@*#!%& broken record. Yeesh, talk about a mood-killer that was set up by the opening.

I think everyone will go gangbusters for this ep just because of Sasuke in the OP that sets the tone for the following arc.
Episode was pretty good in my opinion. The fighting does get old, and substance is nice. However, they seemed to have spent less time on Gaara's "whiteout" part than they have in the manga if I recall correctly... then again, maybe it was word for word. Seemed shorter to me somehow... I seem to remember a fairly meaningful monologue. |

OMG I would rank this episode as the best or the second best for Shippuden. SO emotional. I was bursting in tears , It was the best.
I really dont undrestand why people vote for such an epic episode 1 . P.S. This episode convinced me now that i will not and should not read the Manga. If people rate this episode 1, Reading Manga will completly ruin the anime for me.

Hehe, the first insult in the ED is slightly censored. I guess the actual line is too vulgar for a kid's show? Didn't think it would be though

I really liked how they handled that whole sequence, but I HATED the transition afterwards. |

All in all this wasn't a bad episode. It dragged quite a bit, and there was too much filler, but the animation was far better than it had been in previous episodes, and the new opening and ending were cool. Not shabby, not great. Hopefully this'll be the beginning of a new animation style that drags less and looks cooler.

This episode was rather emotional but how can they spend a whole episode on a character who was only in it for around 25 episodes? I wish the story developed alot faster than this cause it's still horribly slow.
The new opening was pretty cool, few new glances of future characters (the guy from the first episode, well both of them using jutsu's where these stone coming out of the ground and the other guy drew these lions a paper and they came to life) Ending didn't do much for me but it is much better than the last one. |
