It wasn't a lack of intel for Ayato, it seems more like someone played him.
He was legitely surprised Arima was there, almost as if he didn't expect him there.
Ayato already got the keycard from someone, for all we know the same person fed him false information making him walk into a death trap.

That's possible, though his surprise could just as easily be--like I said--that he didn't expect somebody like Arima to be holding the fort in Cochlea while the CCG is attacking Rue. Somebody on the inside quite likely did help him (whether it was Kaneki or Furuta or somebody else) at least with getting in, though.

Kaneki still seems like the most likely suspect, given A) his complete lack of surprise when the attack started (Furuta wasn't either, but then, he's Furuta; and we didn't see Arima's reaction) and B) that his current plan is at least partially dependent upon using the confusion caused by what should be a complete surprise attack to make his move. He was waiting for this.

I wonder if Kaneki will end up fighting Furuta or Arima as he makes his escape, and if he does encounter Arima along the way, I wonder what exchange of words will they have.

Yeah that took me by surprise. Just how far back did Hide plan? A better question is who exactly is Hide? Also if I did something like that to my best friend I would do anything to forget...

ishida not always giving readers a straight answer as usual. i don't believe hide is dead for a second until more revelations are shown. what i do believe is kaneki ate a part of hide since there is a splash sfx for the last page of chapter 136 in tokyo ghoul and kaneki's hole in his chest was healed.

Ishida did give us a straight answer. Kaneki was too weak after Amon took a chunk out of him to give Arima a fight that would prove his worth, so Hide offered his life to give Kaneki the strength to do so. There aren't any holes in Kaneki's memory of that time, so he'd know whether or not he fully ate Hide. But his entire mindset is based upon Hide's actions there being complete self-sacrifice.

There are still more questions than answers surrounding Hide, to be sure, but whether or not he's alive isn't one of them.

better be careful now. ishida knows every reader wants to know what exactly happened to hide. he left parts missing out on purpose.

What exactly did he leave out? A few panels showing Kaneki physically eating Hide? I really don't think that's necessary at this point, but if you say so.

They didn't use much of his draft, so no, unless you have other info.
Also - no, manga and novels are the only canon. And in anime Hide died. Like for real, Kaneki returns his dead body.

some time ago Ishida posted the draft he prepared for the anime, and believe me, the studio did not use almost anything, so the influence of Ishida was minimal.

What Konart said (especially the, "How the hell do we know?" part). If I had to make a complete guess based upon what we've seen, I'd say his current relationship with the CCG is similar or the same as Kaneki's relationship with Anteiku was after he went rogue and started his group; they're on the same side of the fence and he looked out for them when he could, but he wasn't with them, either.

If nothing else, he still seems to be anti-Ghoul (or at least anti-Aogiri).
