Rewriting rewriting rewriting T_T

Spoiler for opening to cannonball:

10:34 AM; Odaiba, Japan; Maruji Circuit.

The large building was packed. Thousands of people were cheering, tearing into their lungs and vocal chords with no intention of stopping. As if the possibility of losing their voices and the ability to breathe properly was of no consequence in respect to this moment.

Lights streamed up to the center of the crowded stadium. Not for the purpose of illumination, but for the purpose of presentation. In the middle of the large stadium was a spherical screen. It contained three dimensional imaging that allowed the people on all sides a perfect view of what was going on in the screen in accordance to wherever they may have been seated.

Down below, blurs shot across the track that extended far beyond the course cutting through the stadium. Mere visages or silhouettes couldn't even be traced with how fast they were going. Still, it was unmistakable that there were six participants to this evident race. Six participants suited in variations of a type of exo-armor. Hailed as the pinnacle of technological advancement at its time until now, the IS Infinite Stratos.

Once, and still is, recognized as a weapon of mass destruction, now relegated to recreation and entertainment for the masses. Divided into two types, personal units and non-personal units. Those who piloted personal units were treated as idols and practically revered by the people. Considering there were only 467 units in existence, that should be normal. Right?

Well, no. Only half of the stuff above is true. If the young man trying his best not to crash while maintaining transonic speed only a few meters off the ground would be asked. The feeling was more akin to being treated like a circus freak. People stared, pointed, “ooh”-ed and “ah”-ed. But maybe that was because he was the only male pilot in the short decade that had elapsed since the IS unveiling to the world.

That's right. In this entire planet with 467 IS units and ten times the number of pilots for all of those machines, he was the only man, or boy, that could suit up in one and make it take off. Not the most glamorous job. Especially when your childhood friend gets a free pass to shoot hyper compressed air balls at you. Air balls that cause flaming explosions upon impact with concrete mind you, as noted by the young man after a near miss.

“Hey! That was dangerous Rin!”, the male pilot yelled at the Chinese girl in front. She was sporting a heavy framed unit that had color of mixed maroon and violet, something that the young man couldn't quite put his finger on.

The girl called Rin looked back and stuck out her tongue in swagger, “Bleh! What's the matter? Can't catch up to me? Come on Ichika! You can do better than that! At least try to keep up with my Shenlong!”. The booster array on her back lit up, thrusting the unit forward at speeds belied by its size.

Exactly what I think, Ichika still inferior than her in experience, overall skill, and even menial stuff as cooking.

In cannonball? Yeah, apparently interference is legal in the race. So it's basically Mad Max with rules, or maybe even like Twisted Metal, if you're familiar with the series.

@ Senpai - Scenario in Synchronicity: Ichika barges into a room by accuser and sees Charlotte dressing up like a guy.

Option 1: Ichika gets suspicious and accuses her of being Charles. She denies it and states she just like dressing as guys for it's own sake.

Option 2: Charlotte is flustered and gets nervous that he might figure it out. He just thinks she's a crossdresser and promises to keep her secret.

Which is better? It's either showing more of Ichika's idiocy or Charlotte's.

Even the Yakuza's don't use guns much because of the way higher punishment for illegal possession. I know about Human trafficking and extortion, but that's it.

Well, if a full blown battle breaks out then no one would finish the race. I dunno about a limit, but someone's bound to sneak past the skirmish.

Interference=/=Attacking. Racers sometimes ram each other to get an advantage. They don't grind the opposing car against the wall or try to injure the driver (unless they're a dick).

Well, I don't know much about how organized crime works. I think come clan does involved in limited drug dealing activity in accordance with agreement with other clans. (Yakuza always work subtly, by theory)

Funny thing, nobody mentioned stray shot in spite of the race was done by circling the damn island.

Once again, Japan is a lot more subtle about it. Not only the crime, but the law enforcement itself.

An agent/spy like that is government's last resort rather than first solution like their western counterpart.

Oh I know, I was just wondering when the hell the criminal population got so smart. Christ, I'm surprised murder gets solved at all in this anime.

Side note - IS can't be used for law enforcement or self defense at all, right?

In the context of duel, it's far from cubstomp battle (more liability in fact), but in terms of high speed marathon battle race...

Kind of like that.
